A black Bond...it'd be a hell of a step for Hollywood. And since there's always the prevailing theory that "James Bond" is just a codename for multiple characters, he could fit into the storyline without an issue.

I'd like Daniel Craig to do at least another one but sure, why not? I'd love to see it.

Eh ever since the Office that actor has managed to piss me off. He was okay in Thor.

If this was to happen, suddenly my mom would be into James Bond movies.

If they actually want to do it, he seems to be the guy everyone expects to be tagged for the role.

They'd pretty well have to acknowledge that Bond is a code name there to make the race change make sense, but I've got no issue with it, he's a good actor.

The code name idea is idiotic since it would mean that a few of them have a wife with the same name, love the same drink. It also ruins the mystique. He's not "one of the James Bonds", he James Motherf***ing Bond. Why would M use it like a personal name? George Lazenby reminisces over artifacts from the Connery movies in one scene. Timothy Dalton LEAVES M16 and is still James Bond. The flashbacks in Goldeneye take place before the Dalton movies chronologically, so if we are trying to piece them together as one continuity (which makes as much sense as putting Batman and Robin and The Dark Knight in the same continuity) that is a problem. He's described in the book as looking like this guy, Hoagy Carmichael, but with something more cold and ruthless, and a bit more dashing/handsome. Honestly aside from Roger Moore they have done a pretty good job of hitting in the ballpark in terms of character type. Craig's only downside is that he is blonde, but he has more than captured the cold intensity that none of the other Bond's quite conjured up. Casting him as a black guy would just be stupid stunt-casting. If you want to make a movie with a James Bond-esqe cool spy with a black guy, go right ahead.

I’d like to see that as he's a great actor, plus he's undeniably cool, can do world weary cynicism and could cope with the physicality required.

If there was a black Bond, Elba's the guy to go with, in my opinion.
Surprised they never offered Liam Neeson, though. Guy's got 007 written all over him.

He was offered it in 1994, but didn't want to do action movies at the time. Colin Ferrel and Hugh Jackman were also both offered in 04-05 but didn't like the plot direction. (Presumably because it was post Die Another Day) I also recall a fear of typecasting on Jackman's part, plus not wanting to take on two big series at one time (X-Men/Bond) Sam Neil and James Brolin both did screen tests for From Russia With Love. Dalton was offered it at age 21 in 1967, accepting it 20 years later. Moore and Dalton also both (perhaps wisely) turned down the role in OHMSS, because they didn't want to be the poor sap who had to live up to Sean Connery. Brosnan was set for The Living Daylights, but Remington Steele was renewed. I suppose I could have just linked the Wiki en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_actors_considered_for_the_James_Bond_character#Declined_the_role

I get the idea of "Let's show how far we've come by casting a minority in an iconic role", but if previous movies have established that it's supposed to be the same character (despite having to replace the actor) in every movie, it just wouldn't work.
Though if it's that important, I guess it would have to do a continuity reboot, starting over from a new beginning/origin story.

I like Elba but I wouldn't want this. I prefer when he uses an American accent. I think Craig does one more Bond after Skyfall bringing his total to 4. By then, he'll be bored with the role and want out. It's Michael Fassbender's role then if he wants it. Maybe Tom Hardy. Henry Cavill was a final contender for Casino Royale but they chose Craig because of his age. He probably won't do Bond now unless Man of Steel ends up like Superman Returns and they reboot the film franchise again.

I can't even tell how you blown my mind was when I found out Stringer Bell was British. McNulty too. My head was this close to exploding.
It seems like they've been talking about a "black Bond" for years. I remember when P Diddy (or whatever that idiot calls himself) was all, "yeah, I'd totally be an awesome James Bond, I'm so suave", or whatever. And everyone else was basically "we all hate you and you are terrible, please stop saying things."
All in all, I'm cool with Daniel Craig. That guy is awesome.

No, the code name theory is dumb. Make him the new Bourne Identity if needed, but no, Bond is pale.

Puffy could only work as Bond if they find a bigger, black dude with more swag than him to help carry him through the movie, just like one carried him through his first career.
