I hate when stuff deviates that far from source material.
Just make a new franchise, but Bond's race and identiy is kinda locked. Yes the hair can change, but he is Swiss/Scotch.

He's a good actor, but the code name theory is stupid, and Bond is white.

I can't even tell how you blown my mind was when I found out Stringer Bell was British. McNulty too. My head was this close to exploding. It seems like they've been talking about a "black Bond" for years. I remember when P Diddy (or whatever that idiot calls himself) was all, "yeah, I'd totally be an awesome James Bond, I'm so suave", or whatever. And everyone else was basically "we all hate you and you are terrible, please stop saying things." All in all, I'm cool with Daniel Craig. That guy is awesome. Puffy could only work as Bond if they find a bigger, black dude with more swag than him to help carry him through the movie, just like one carried him through his first career.

Meh, Spider-Man is white, too, didn't stop the internet from getting behind mediocre comedian Donald Glover to play him, for reasons that still haven't been adequately explained to me.

I think the next Bond should be a woman.

You're all talking nonsense. The next Bond needs to be played by an English speaking Wookie. You think people are going to mouth off to a Bond that without any weapons can rip their arms out of their sockets? Don't think so.

There's no racial component in Spider-Man lore whatsoever. I'm not too familiar with the Bond franchise, so has it been implied it's been the same guy this entire time?

If we're gonna have a black James Bond, might as well have Michael Cera play Shaft.

Donald Glover is "mediocre?" Yeah... no. I know, everyone's entitled to their opinion and all that, but yours is clearly wrong. Also, for what it's worth, Stan Lee didn't exactly oppose it (although he didn't endorse it either, as he stated he wasn't going to tell the scriptwriters who they could and couldn't cast) and he even praised Donald Glover as an actor; and considering he's the reason there is a Spider Man in the first place, I think he has a little, just a little more of a say as to who should and shouldn't play one of his creations. Either way, you're essentially talking about apples and oranges. Peter Parker is an established comic book character, with a specific look, background, and personality; hell, I wouldn't be behind changing his race either, since Parker was never black in the comics. 007 isn't the same thing. He's a spy; and anyone who knows anything about the Secret Service, be it British, American, Russian, or whatever knows that only an idiot would use their real name while in the field. In short: Parker is a character, Bond is a MI6 creation. Not in the same ballpark; hell, not even the same sport.

Credit where it's due, and I LOVE Stan, but Spidey is by no means just 'his' creation. Steve Ditko had a TON to do with with bringing the wall-crawler to life.
Besides, since Stan originally had a hand in the Silver Surfer possibly being a blaxploitation flick in the seventies, and first choice for a Spider-man movie way back when was Henry Winkler, I'm not trusting his casting acumen one iota.

Some not-as-iconic characters can make a race change work, like Marvel's embrace of Ultimate Nick Fury. I think Bond is like Superman in the sense that his skin color is too tied into the image of him in the general public, and I'm saying that as a black guy.

Putting a "black nerd" comedian in the suit is a huge deviation from that.

It doesn't matter who was under that mask as Spidey, all the merch would be Pete in his costume anyway

As in, the past 8 months recent. And not mainstream continuity. Personally, I stopped counting EVERYTHING Ultimate after Loeb shit the bed with Ultimatum.

He's no more defined by that than he is having brown hair.

Hell, his being a nerd is probably more pivotal than his race has ever been: Spidey's allure was specifically that he was essentially the anti-Superman; no barrel chest, no dimpled chin, no 24-inch pythons, yet he was a superhero and the guy you could count on to save the day. That's not a race thing, that's a character thing, and could be Donald Glover, Michael Cera, or even Danny Pudi, to be frank.
