It's probably safe to assume not many people here have seen Project X.

Generally, I stand for the rights of filmmakers to make their movies, and don't believe that movies influence people to do bad things.
But this is one time where I hope they throw the book at them by using the movie as an example. Because f*** that movie.

This has been the case for literally the last two thousand years. Consider this quote from Plato, on the children of his day: What is happening to our young people? They disrespect their elders, they disobey their parents. They ignore the law. They riot in the streets inflamed with wild notions. Their morals are decaying. What is to become of them?" These kids are idiots, absolutely, but teenagers have been problematic for thousands of years. This is nothing new; they simply now have the technology to promote it.
Exactly. The only reason this is news is because the kids outright referenced the movie they were trying to replicate. Aside from that, it's nothing particularly stunning. I mean, teenagers...doing stupid things?!?!

I feel like an old guy for saying this, but teenagers are f***ing stupid these days. It's not just this story that makes me think that. I literally haven't met one in the past 5 years or so that wasn't completely insufferable. This has been the case for literally the last two thousand years. Consider this quote from Plato, on the children of his day: What is happening to our young people? They disrespect their elders, they disobey their parents. They ignore the law. They riot in the streets inflamed with wild notions. Their morals are decaying. What is to become of them?" That was two millennia ago. The truth is that children are impressionable, naive and often enjoy getting themselves into trouble. I'm sure that most of us did it; I know I did. I used to get thrown into Police Cars for skateboarding and drinking under the legal age. Just today I was accepted to a Master's program at my university. Most grow out of it; some don't. For as many teenagers there are that disrespect their parents or get into trouble, there are just as many who do not but we obviously aren't hearing stories about Joseph who sits at home on a Friday night studying for the exam on Monday. These kids are idiots, absolutely, but teenagers have been problematic for thousands of years. This is nothing new; they simply now have the technology to promote it.
Yeah, doing dumb stuff that elders don't like is a part of growing up for a lot of kids. Just because we have internet to publicize it doesn't mean it's worse now. It's not like the Christopher McCandlesses of the world had could upload their exploits to Youtube. And just as doing dumb stuff and mimicking other's is a part of growing up, complaining about those blasted kids today is a part of being an adult.

You mean there are actually consequences for when teens throw an illegal house party?
So the movie lied. I mean, hell the guy that technically inspired the movie (Corey Worthington) is viewed as an insufferable brat throughout Australia and got bashed at school.

Movies are like cake. You love em, you can't get enough of them, they're comfort, but they're full of lies.

Not supprised, but I am disappointed.
I'm sure these teens had that "bigger in texas" mentality in their heads...

...Hilarity does not ensue... So, they accurately recreated that part of the movie at least

So, they accurately recreated that part of the movie at least Pretty sure that's ironic, but, it makes me laugh, so I'll take it. (Plus, it's like 3 am here, so that seems like a good note to go out on)

I f***ing hate my generation. You hate your generation because a couple of kids in Canada did something stupid?
