I think they're mad because The Asylum's version looks better. Source TMZ.com

It's about god damn time this happened. Studios spend millions of dollars on advertising these films, and what those shitty Asylum movies do is exactly what the article says - piggyback off of advertising they had nothing to do with. I mean jesus, they've done Transmorphers, Snakes on a Train, The Zodiac, Almighty Thor, Journey to the Center of the Earth, The War of the Worlds, The Terminators, etc. It's absolutely ridiculous, and should be illegal. Hopefully this shuts them down for good.

So Universal believe that a alien invasion movie based on a board game is going to tank, because of a low budget straight to DVD movie. Yeah. Because 'Transmorphers' did it to the Transformers movies Seriously Battlesh** has been out in Australia for a couple of weeks now and the reviews and word of mouth has not been great (50% on Rotten Tomatoes), looks like they are trying to find somebody to blame but themselves if the movie fails at the U.S box office.

Personally, I found "The Battle of Los Angeles" better than the big screen "Battle: LA." Much less shaky cam...oh, and Kel Mitchell in a non-Orange-Soda-loving starring role.

Personally I look at The Asylum films as parodies.

This can't possibly have any grounds can it?
Asylum is pretty much a parody company that just parodies big budget blockbusters.
But then again I am next to unfamiliar with such legalities so I am probably wrong.

I know they've been sued before but I'm unsure if anything ever came of it.

These aren't parodies, but I don't think there's merit to sue.

Does that mean any studio can sue porn companies for their porn parodies?
Are the makers of 'The Assengers' currently nervous at the moment?

Does that mean any studio can sue porn companies for their porn parodies? Are the makers of 'The Assengers' currently nervous at the moment? No. They are considered parodies and are safe from lawsuits. Asylum has never claimed their films to be parodies. I bet they will now to get out of trouble.
