{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Anyone else with an odd feeling that Emma Stone does a duel role thing as Mary Jane? {Spoiler}{Spoiler}No. That would make Peter look petty and creepy to fall in love with a lookalike
You'll probably see Emma again when they remount her cut scenes from II with whoever is selected to play MJ, but let's allow Peter to properly move on from her

Finally saw it, thanks to work scheduling a whole lot of days in a row. And I really enjoyed it. It's not as good as the first one, or Spider-Man 2, but I'd put it with Spider-Man. Andrew Garfield, and Emma Stone are of course fantastic. They hit the jackpot with Garfield, the guy makes the perfect Spidey. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}- I hated that they killed Gwen. I know it's comic canon, but at least give us one more movie with her.
- Harry's transformation to Goblin was very similar to David's first transformation in An American Werewolf in London. So that was awesome.
- Yes it was cheesy with Gwen's speech about hope, and Peter wrestling with going back to being Spidey, but I loved it. Spidey is a symbol of hope, he like Superman and Captain America don't fit with dark and gritty, he's a symbol of hope and has fun. If Superman and Captain America are the same, then Spider-Man and Nightwing are the same. Both love to have fun, crack jokes, and started their superhero careers early.
- I like that the movie lets it be known that Aunt May knows Peter is Spider-Man, she knew it in the first one, and they kept it in this one. She hasn't come out and said it, but they've dropped enough hints.

Saw the movie today, and bloody loved it. Great acting from all involved, with Garfield and Stone's chemistry being consistently amazing, and both of the lead villains did a fantastic job with their origins and descents into madness. Some excellent visuals, and just an unrelenting pace throughout. They squashed a lot in there, and maybe some breathing room would have been a good idea, but y'know, I think we got our money's worth from this. {Spoiler}And then there's the one big downside. With the death of Gwen, while they played it well (good foreshadowing with them atop the bridge, I was genuinely surprised when nothing happened there) I feel like there's no need to follow the comics any more, and subverting expectations would be more interesting than fridging a wonderful character. Spidey's got enough angst to be going on with, it's not like it's really necessary to throw her death on the pile, and we will be missing out on their chemistry in future. And hey, if we're going to treat the comics as the be-all and end-all, Peter never married Mary Jane because it was retconned by the devil (and you can decide for yourself whether I'm referring to Mephisto or Quesada) so what's the point in switching over to her?

I saw the movie today. I'd say at least a tie with Raimi Part II for the best Spidey movie ever. (FYI, my rankings go: 1) SM2 + ASM2, 2) SM1, 3) ASM1. 4) SM3.)
The "civilian" scenes are still iffy, and the looks of the characters and etc. are still a bit to get used to. But the Spidey scenes were spot on. Also, THIS is how you do multiple villains.

That's a real shame, as it's a quality, fun flick. Word of mouth (in this case mostly erroneous in my view) has really hurt it.

I was a bit annoyed that they felt the need to rip of not one but two things from the Iron Man movies . . . {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}First Peter Parker's ring tone is the Spider-man theme. How original.
Second, there is a scene where a kid dressed as the hero tries to stand up to the villain only for the real hero to show up. Three... {Spoiler}{Spoiler} the OsCorp computer is pretty much Stark's computer, only tabletop not 3D. Or is that stretching it? The ringtone I gave a pass cause it reminded me of Spectacular's "Itsy Bitsy Spider" tone. And someone gets to say "He does whatever a spider can". Also, {Spoiler}{Spoiler} Gwen's death:Marvel::the Doomsday saga:WB/DC. A lifelong hardon to put it to film.

IMO they should have picked Electro OR Goblin, not both. It just made things too cluttered. I will say that some of the visuals were amazing, specifically the opening chase scene, and some of the Electro stuff. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Also it would have helped to delve into Peter and Harry's friendship a little more. We hear about what great friends they used to be, but have no context to base it on outside of some throwaway dialogue. They could have built up to the Goblin in the next movie in a more natural way instead of rushing him in at the end.
Also I felt Electro was too over the top almost akin to Arnies Mr. Freeze. I like the idea of a guy obsessed with Spiderman eventually becoming a villain, but feel that there were much better ways they could have gone about it.
Gwen's death was pretty well done, but with how already cluttered this movie was. I wish they'd maybe held off on it for another movie. All in all, I like it more than the first one (which I didn't really like at all). But it still has problems. Actually, I thought Electro was surprisingly well done. The multiple villains were done better than Spider-Man 3, that's for sure. Goblin was a teaser and Rhino a bigger teaser for the next film and for the Sinister Six.

Goblin was a teaser and Rhino a bigger teaser for the next film and for the Sinister Six. {Spoiler}I don't think they needed the ridiculous combover, or the psychological issues. Essentially all they needed was a lonely guy who craved attention, but they pushed the boundaries of the character to the point where he became a caricature instead of a real character.
But that was really a problem with every "villain" (not the obvious ones, mind you) in the movie. Between the Doctor Strangelove clone at the asylum, Alistair Smythe smirking about making Electro work late on his Birthday, to even the Oscorp board of directors. Every deplorable character almost had to be some sort of moustache twirling fiend, instead of something a little closer to earth, which IMO seems to contradict where they originally wanted to take this series.
My problem with Goblin was that we didn't get enough of their friendship for his turn at the end to really mean anything. He could have been anyone else and it probably would have been the same result. Gwen dies, which was done well, but because of that Goblin becomes an afterthought when he should be the focus right now. I just don't like how they played it out.

I will say the Kafka going from an American woman to a bad German stereotype dude was an odd, odd choice. Like I guess I get they wanted a guy to be the asshole doctor; that's all well and good, but the terrible accent and cheesiness was an odd choice.

Saw it today...
Wow. Talk about cluttered. Not only that, but there were some serious issues with the editing. I hate the shit with his parents and Aunt May was given a plot point that went nowhere. I didn't like Electro at all, Osborne would have been okay if it was fleshed out and Rhino was downright laughably over the top. It seems like the only reason they did 3 was to just get to the Sinister Six movie as quickly as possible.
It wasn't absolutely terrible, but man was it a step down from the first one.

One thing that really, really bothered me: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}So Peter says that Harry is his best pal. They haven't spoken for over a decade at this point. No contact at all. You mean to tell me, he still thinks of Harry as his best pal. Just seemed very forced to me. I didn't really get the vibe that they were best friends. At least compared to the Rami trilogy.

They hugged...and talked about a unibrow and braces. This is like the relationship between Anakin and Obi Wan. We don't see them grow, we're told about it instead, which is very lazy. Keep in mind, 10 years would have meant they were around 8. If I didn't see my best friend for that long without keeping in contact, by that point they're essentially a completely different person.

They could salvage the complaints about Harry if they maybe do some kind of flashback(s) in the next movie. I admit a lot of things were stuck in there at once, but I still say it didn't feel as clusterf***y as Raimi Part 3, not that that's saying much. Then again I might change my mind after letting it sink in. One more thing you gotta give the sequel credit for: {Spoiler}{Spoiler} At least this time, Spider-Man's mask didn't come off every other minute. Also, I NEED the lyrics to that Electro song :-)

I saw this last week and enjoyed it. I loved Electro's song. It was actually a very clever way of building him up to his heel turn, hearing the weird paranoid ramblings in his head steadily growing steadily louder and more coherrant the further and further off the rails he falls. Plus it was a cool song.
Overall I enjoyed it. I do think the movie should have ended differently. Have Goblin drop the hints for the Sinister Six first, then have the movie end with him killing Gwen. I always think trilogies work best with the middle movie ending on the ultimate low point for the heroes. In this case, it should have ended with Gwen's funeral and maybe an end of credit show of Goblin plotting the Sinister Six. As it stands, Spidey has fought and beat Goblin too soon.
Other than that though, Ihave no flaws. Very fun movie.
