No more do they go young vulture, old jewel thief, old Fagin style and despiser of the weak. Vulture has never been a big threat, he's just a robber but the films like to make the villains be city/country level threats. So how do you make vulture a bigger threat than he is? Go the Spider-Man Noir route and make him a cannibal.

Finally saw this the other day. Visually, it's probably one of the best comic book films I've ever seen. Spider-Man looked amazing, I loved the 360 camera for the Spider Sense scenes, and the final battle with Electro was fantastic. Andrew and Emma had great chemistry, and Dane DeHaan (Harry Osborn) owned every scene he was in.
All that said, story-wise, it was a bit of a mess. Basically, it had Iron Man 2's flaw of putting exposition before plot, as well as Spider-Man 3's issue of essentially taking two potentially great, but completely separate films and sort of mashing them together. The end result was a film that, by the end, felt like it wanted so badly to be over with itself and move on the sequel, that it actually began the sequel early. Especially as it pertains to the Goblin, who I felt was wasted.
I think some of the hate is unfounded, but a lot of the criticism is valid (particularly as it pertains to pacing and structure). Overall, it's a great popcorn flick, but that's about it.

Anyone got the final box office total? I'm thinking if the home release is being rushed that it didn't do as well as hoped.

3 months and then it's released on dvd? I remember when shit took forever for a home release. Yeah, I love that DVD/Blu-Rays are faster and cheaper to make. Anyone got the final box office total? I'm thinking if the home release is being rushed that it didn't do as well as hoped. Over $700 million worldwide, it did pretty f***ing well. With DVD/Blu, studios can churn them out and make even more money. A fast turnaround for a movie means more money for them.

I'll pick it up for my son, but I don't know how much I'll watch it. I liked it, but the pacing and the plot really drove it down. After my second viewing of the film, I wasn't a big fan of it.

Also, isn't Captain America 2 out on home media around the same time too?

Yep, Cap is coming out September 9. The Lego Movie just came out after 4 months, Desolation of Smaug only took 4 months to reach home video. Hell, they're already taking pre-orders for Days of Future Past. Studios are being smart, they know they'll make money with a quick turnaround.

There's so many comic book movies coming out now, too, they're likely trying to get them out before the next wave hits and everyone forgets about the previous installments.

I'm not really a comic book guy but I liked it. The last 20 minutes or so seemed kinda rushed to me but that's my only major complaint.

{Spoiler}I thought in the original script Harry laughs hysterically while Peter grieves over Gwen, thus sending Peter over the edge, and in the process he almost beats Harry to the point of death?
