I think I just saw The Match of the Year. Wow. What an awesome match that was.... so much from beginning to end.... told a great story in the ring without any outside theatrics, such as run-ins, broken tables and chairs. This was just two guys wrestling their asses off for nearly 40 minutes with counters throughout the match, a piledriver and a Cenacanrana. I think it was their best match against each other ever.... to me, it surpasses their Money In The Bank match from Chicago in 2011. I'm proud of both guys, as well as the WWE for not making the match melodramatic with unnecessary theatrics. That was the best televised match I've seen since the Cena and Michaels broadway classic in England from 2007. There's no way this tops MITB '11. The story, the atmosphere, the levels of insanity brought forward. Nothing tops that match. But this comes in a close f***ing second.

Yea, we all knew Cena would win, but didn't you get sucked in by the match and forget about everything for just a few seconds? When the ref had counted nine and Cena was still outside or after Punk's piledriver?
Fair enough if you didn't but for me there's only a few matches a year when I feel like that and last night's was one of them. Matches which are so good that you suspend disbelief.

I liked that one of them finally got a clean win.
Think about it, we've had:
The dawn of Nexus a pipewrench a failed screwjob Triple H's bad refereeing a Kevin Nash distraction a double pin some pissed off jazz musicians
but not a single clean pin or submission since the match at the 2009 Slammies.

Easily the match of the year. I'd go as far as to say that might have been Cena's best match ever (at the very least, his top 3)

I love how people go on about how predicable the match was after the fact, when before the match happened we had about half this board talking about how they thought that this might lead to a triple threat match at Mania.

I was expecting some double pin/countout nonsense so I was pretty much on the edge of my seat the whole way. Awesome match.

Match of the Year thus far....with Ziggler/Cena on the first Raw of 2013 right behind it in my opinion...

I'm as big a Punk fanboy as you'll find, and I loved the main event. Even the way thy did the finish (Cena-canrana, AA, pin) was great.

I'm going to go as far as to say this was John Cena and CM Punk's best match yet.
I would honestly be happy if WWE announced that every PPV for the next 12 months will be main evented by John Cena vs CM Punk. They work as well together as any pairing I can ever remember.

Match of the decade perhaps. I never get tired of these guys and when they put on clinics like this I don't even get pissed about cena winning. These guys are the best in the business and this proves it.

It's already been a good year for great Raw matches.
Cena/Ziggler Punk/Jericho Bryan/Jericho Cena/Punk
As overdone as their matches are at this point I still think Cena and Punk deserve a proper blowoff match on PPV sometime this year. Maybe at Extreme Rules. Bring back the three stages of hell match and give them 40 minutes. First fall regular match. Second fall submission match. Final fall last man standing.

It's so cool because of how different their styles/backgrounds are, yet they are the perfect match. You'd just never expect that. I was marking for last night's main like I did watching Austin/Bret as a kid.

That match was definitely a very close second to MITB '11. MITB, I literally did not know who was going to win and had butterflies in my stomach and goosebumps on my skin the whole time. Plus, the build and atmosphere were amazing. Last night, I thought Cena would win going in, but it hooked me a few times. There were some genuine "Holy Shit!" moments from me like Punk's piledriver and Cena's hurricanranna.

It was amazing... a quality, quality, quality match.
WWE matches work so much better imo when they leave off the predictable 5 moves of doom style comeback routine. They just have much better flow to them... like Punk countering the spin-out powerbomb and Cena hitting the spin-out powerbomb later in the match without the usual predictable build up to it.

Best match I have ever seen on RAW. Hands down.
I really think Punk brings out the best from Cena, and maybe....just maybe the other way as well.

It's pretty amazing how two guys who are that different, in terms of styles, have such amazing chemistry in the ring. Even though the outcome was pretty predictable, they still managed to keep me on the edge of my seat.

Brilliant match. Id just put it ahead of Del Rio vs. Big Show LSM on Smackdown! and the elimination Chamber match

Best match I have ever seen on RAW. Hands down. I really think Punk brings out the best from Cena, and maybe....just maybe the other way as well. There's no doubt about that last part. IMO, All of Punk's truly great matches in the WWE involve Cena.
