I loved it.
See, now I'm fully justified in cheering for the Rock, because that excuse was garbage.
It's like the kid in school, you play a game and you beat him, he wants best two out of three, says the sun got in his eyes, he finally scores and acts like that one point is definitive proof of his superiority, ignoring the past completely.

You know, I will be honest...
I don't think he'll turn heel. They pulled this stuff last year and nothing came from it so I will be surprised if they go through with it with no top guy to replace him with.

They didn't come anywhere close last year to what we just saw from John Cena as far as a possible heel turn.

I guess it depends on if you think Sheamus is ready to ascend to the throne

I'll believe it when I see it, but I'll be damned if this isn't the best set up for it they've done.

I liked Cena tonight, he was serious but didn't go into the "super serious" speech pattern that he goes into to every so often. If that makes any sense...I really don't know how else to describe it but it comes off as completely fake.

The "no guy to replace him with" just makes me think that it'd be the perfect way TO get someone to replace him with. With Heel Cena as the champ, you can make a storyline about the guys trying to take the spot he used to hold, to be the big hero and dethrone him, with one standing out and becoming the guy who could do what nobody else could, even the Rock... It'd be like ending the streak, but with something less enshrined.

We denied Dean Ambrose's existence for months, and we were proven wrong.
We have denied Cena's heel turn for years now, time after time. We will be proven wrong.

^ This. Cena sold a possible turn perfectly. Seriously, there's no turning back from the "I didn't really lose" speech. That's a heel speech incarnate, and goes against everything Face!Cena stands for. Even more so when you consider he emphasized that it's the first time he's said it out loud. Which means he's thought it to himself for a great deal of time. Which means the whole "handling his loss with class" has been a charade.

JBL ran rampant on SD until Cena finally toppled him.

Really the whole previous Wrestlemania backstory would fuel Cena's motivation. Rock cost him the WWE championship two years ago, and then beat him again when John promised a victory. Cena cannot afford to have Rock get the better of him and hand him a loss for the third year in a row.

See, that's the thing right there, right now, Rock's up 2-0, but in Cena's mind, beating Rocky in thirteen days is worth three points.

Fun to dream though; and even if it doesn't happen, kudos to Cena and the company for at least presenting a somewhat convincing possibility.

Really the whole previous Wrestlemania backstory would fuel Cena's motivation. Rock cost him the WWE championship two years ago, and then beat him again when John promised a victory. Cena cannot afford to have Rock get the better of him and hand him a loss for the third year in a row. And this why Cena attempts to win at all costs and eventually cheats to beat the Rock. He's slightly conflicted, but he still does it. The next night on RAW, Cena comes out as WWE Champ and admits to going against his best judgment and letting his desire to win get the better of him. He says he's embarrassed and grants Rock a rematch on RAW. The match happens and the same events play out as the night before: Cena can't seem to get the better of the Rock, so he cheats to win again. This time, he embraces it and destroys the Rock after the match, cementing the turn. We're left with a paranoid heel Cena, who's obsessed with asserting his legacy as the best ever at all costs.

Idk. I feel that if he turns heel on the Rock, he'll be left floundering with nothing to do once The Rock leaves. Ummm...he's the biggest name in the company and would be the biggest heel, you better believe he'd have something to do. Better yet, what would he not do if he stays face? Fight another dastardly heel? Oh no...what ever is going to happen?! Exactly, it would open alot more possibilities. It pretty much needs to happen because Cena has faced everyone as a face. Before tonight I thought it shouldn't happen because it wouldn't work, now we know it will.
