Saw this last night.
What an awesome film. Possibly the best in a while in terms of embracing that it's a comic book film.
Some great little moments, very glad they went back and added more Loki. Some surprises, a great cameo, one missed opportunity and then a tip top stinger.
One thing I will say is that this film embraces that Kat Dennings is in 2 Broke Girls and makes Darcy over in to Max. Which was hilarious because I love 2 Broke Girls for being totally shit but not caring.

posted this in the other THOR 2 thread about the credits scene and I will put it in spoilers here but THOR 2 director Alan Taylor HATES the scene, alot: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Director Alan Taylor hates the mid-credits scene in Thor 2
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been insanely successful beyond anyone’s expectations, with actors and actresses vying to land a role in the next big franchise from the entertainment juggernaut. Directors, too, have jumped on board, and though they’ve by and large had fun directing their individual films, they never forget that is ultimately Marvel, and not them, that is in charge.
Marvel has a unified vision, and the success of that vision has been a certain franchise aspect to their movies. It’s become standard operating procedure to add a post-credits scene at the end of each movie to tease the next upcoming film. We recently heard the news that Thor: The Dark World would include not one, but two stingers in the credits…but director Alan Taylor is not happy about it, particularly not the mid-credits scene that was directed not by him, but by Guardians of the Galaxy helmer James Gunn and features a cameo by Benicio del Toro as The Collector. Really, really not happy about it, as it turns out. He was more than willing to distance himself from it in a recent interview with Bleeding Cool: I absolutely did not. I am very happy to not take responsibility. I wouldn’t blame it on James Gunn…Er…I wouldn’t attribute it to James Gunn…it’s clearly his sets and his characters…
I am very happy not to take responsibility for that…It’s a different tone. I would have shot it differently. But I think it’s cool that it reaches out and touches that other universe. That universe is coming. The Guardians universe is really cool and wacky…but that sequence in the credits, I would say, is the only part of the movie where I’m happy to give the credit away…
Talk about not holding back. That’s about as critical a condemnation of Marvel’s choices as you’ll hear from anyone, and surprising to hear coming from a director who is still in the thick of his contract with Marvel.
I can understand where he is coming from. It has to be frustrating to work for two years on a project that is completely your vision, your blood, sweat, and tears, only to have the studio decide last minute they’re going to slap another director’s scene into your film, a scene with a completely different feel than the movie you created. I get that. Still, if Thor: The Dark World is as good as it can be, a mid-credits scene that’s clearly just there to point to the next movie shouldn’t detract from what Taylor has accomplished.

Eh, I don't see a problem with it myself. It's a staple of the Marvel films and doesn't impact the rest of the movie at all.

It's a bit camp, and yeah, isn't really in the same tone as the rest of the movie, but it works and I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Saw it yesterday. Enjoyed it. Question regarding the ending: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Did Loki kill Odin? {Spoiler}Depends if Anthony Hopkins can be convinced to return again. By his own admission he doesn't care for the films, and only accepted the role in the first place because Kenneth Brannagh was directing the first one. If he doesn't return then I imagine Odin will be given an off-screen death at Loki's hands.

Had the day off yesterday, so I took in the entire Thor Marathon. Overall, I very much enjoyed The Dark World. It took a little while to get going, but once Jane got to Asgard, it really took off. Love how they really seem to be embracing the sci-fi/fantasy aspect for the Thor films. Hiddleston and Hemsworth have such great chemistry, the next film could be "Thor & Loki's Trip to the Zoo" and I'd still see it opening day.
As for the hoopla around the mid-credits scene, the first few seconds were pretty jarring from the complete shift in look and feel, but overall, I really liked it. I think they even touched upon the shift in the scene, with Volstagg and Sif clearly being a little uncomfortable with where they were and who they were with. I actually found it appropriate that it was the stinger for the Thor film of Phase 2, since Thor was the biggest leap from "normal", "realistic" comic book films in Phase 1 and GotG is clearly going to be another huge jump past what we've been shown so far through Phase 2.
