Just saw it. Some thoughts: 1. Did not like this film as much as the first one-did not have the same level of character development. 2. Found it sooooo satisfying to see London get the mass destruction treatment instead of NYC for a change. 3. While that cameo by Chris Evans was cool, I can't help but wonder why Thor didn't at least pay a phone call to Tony Stark or any of the other Avengers before he went off into that final battle. 4. Not sure why they ended it in that manner, since Tom Hilddeston has declared he will not be involved in anymore Avengers films. 5. Lets just call it confirmed-phase 3 will be the Infinity War. and 6. Why did they make The Collector look like Boy George?

I thought that the first Thor film wasn't very good but this one was a massive improvement and they found a way to make Kat Dennings actually funny.
So it gets props from me.

Just because he won't be in anymore Avengers films doesn't mean he won't be in anymore Thor films. That is what I meant. No more Avengers or their tie ins. He has said straight out he won't be involved in the next Thor or Avengers films. I get the impression it is questionable how long Chris Hemsworth will be as well-apparently he is getting worn out on Thor and the insane workout regime he has to do for it.

This seems.....random....I mean I can't see Loki returning for a while....but in general? I mean they can re-cast the role but Idk if they can get anyone to play the part as well as Hiddleston did.

According to an interview as recent as last weekend, Hiddleston has said he'd love to keep playing Loki for as long as Marvel have an interest in making more movies with him in it. While it has been confirmed Loki will not feature in Age of Ultron, Marvel do have plans for more Thor movies and a possible Loki spin-off, so I don't think we've seen the last of him. As for Hemsworth... they could always cast his brother, I suppose.

Unless I'm wrong, Hemsworth is contractually obliged for a whole bunch more films, so he'll be back.
I think Hiddlestone was only signed for 3, which they've used up. So he can now wrangle for more cash.
The only actor whose actively stated he doesnt want to come back is Hopkins.

I've seen news reports where he's shot down being in Avengers 2, but I've never seen anything that even hints that he won't be returning to the role at all.

Some things I think they could have cut: The subplot hinting at a Thor/Sif/Jane triangle. I'm aware that this does play into the overall comic lore, but for this film it felt rushed and unnecessary. Maybe they care building for the next movie, but it just felt to me like they added one more element into a movie that was already crammed to the hilt. Second, the scenes of Eric Selvig going crazy where great for laughs, but they also felt distracting and out if place. I think they could just as easily have had Selvig still working with Jane rather than have to re-introduce him partway through. I think cutting these things would have streamlined it a but and helps the pace of the entire movie.
And as cool as the dark elves where, I still would have preferred they go with a more traditional Thor villain like the Executioner or Enchantress.

It was dumb fun, but ultimately forgettable.

I agree on the Selvig stuff; it was funny, but seemed a bit unnecessary.

Getting controlled by Loki is bound to muck your head up a bit.
We have no idea what he saw or was told, bound to do something to a person, esp. an untrained civilian scientist

So he can now wrangle for more cash. The only actor whose actively stated he doesnt want to come back is Hopkins. Three more for Hemsworth. Avengers 2 and 3 will count for two, so safe bet he is good for Thor 3. Hopkins has said he is not really interested in coming back, but didn't they also have to virtually sue Portman to get her back? She was under contract for two, but after her first choice for director on TDW backed out, she tried to as well and Marvel had to either crack the whip or back up the money dump truck. Part of the reason I had money on Jane dying, just to save Marvel future headaches.

I'm guessing it was part a whip crack, part money truck.
