The writers hurt themselves in their confusion.
Here's a few reasons.
1. She's untalented. Daniel Bryan is talented. Now, being a talented wrestler doesn't automatically mean people will take to you, but good lord, does it ever help. She also has little personality, and she's a diva so most of her matches are viewed as piss break matches.
2. No charisma. She doesn't grab people's attention. She's way too generic. AJ grabs people's attention, even with the WWE handicap of being a woman. In WWE if you're a women and want attention for more then just being a walking vagina, you have to have more charisma and personality then a good chunk of the roster would need to have. It's like how Daniel Bryan is small, so he has a handicap to overcome by being more talented then everybody in every way. And while AJ isn't Shawn Michaels in ring, she's at least competent and makes a great heel or babyface while wrestling.
3. She's Princess Peach. This was brought up in the thread about Orton going into the locker room. No, she won't be able to take Orton one on one. But Beth Phoenix stood up to CM Punk. Trish Stratus stood up to many guys, and actually got the crap beaten out of her too many times (some of the crazy bumps she took, no wonder she had back problems). Lita stood up to guys. Natalya body slammed Jimmy Yang one time, though it was on Superstars. Brie Bella cowered in fear yelling "Mario, MARIO!" while Bowser laughed at her. What a great babyface. Hell, Stephanie McMahon slapped the shit out of Big Show. Stephanie McMahon is 10 times the babyface Brie Bella is. AJ manipulated most of the main event roster, and danced around Kane, who has committed more crimes then anyone else in WWE. These women don't take shit from people.
4. She was a heel for so long. Kelly Kelly is just as untalented as Brie, but she got some sympathy based on being a babyface for so long. So now, they're trying to put over Brie as this fiery babyface, and it just doesn't work.

It's like they don't understand basic psychology. People don't just magically go from being bad to good without any good reason. In fact it seems like every turn this year has happened seemingly because of no good reason, the only real exceptions being Triple H and Randy Orton. Everybody else seems to turn solely because they've been designated as the villain or hero for that particular week.
It's especially bad with people like Alicia Fox or Aksana who seem to switch sides every single match. Which makes it very difficult to sympathize or despise them since you have no idea what side they are on, if any. Which is a good reason why tweeners rarely ever work.
Imagine any other medium where a character suddenly became good without any good reason or provocation. I guarantee you it would be received just as badly if not worse.
And yeah, it also doesn't help that we've been given no reason in storyline to be drawn towards Brie since the only thing that we know about her is she's engaged to Daniel Bryan now. And that's absolutely not enough to justify considering her a babyface. Maybe if they tried to develop her character a little beyond a faceless twin who just happened to start smiling and stop cheating for a completely inexplicable reason.

WWE seem to assume that everyone watches Total Divas. Most viewers don't even watch Smackdown or Main Event, let alone reality spinoffs. Either way, AJ's more relatable than either Bella.

well, they'll have to totally forget the Attitude Era then, because the number of people who were likeable back then was pretty small. Being cool, fun, or interesting are likable traits. Attitude Era wrestlers had those traits in spades. Brie Bella? None of these things. It's not all about moral high ground...but she doesn't even have THAT, as spelled out time and time again in this thread. What does she have, other than being hot? most of them were assholes

The biggest problem is that there was really no moment where Brie turned. Seen this a lot in this thread and there was a moment that was meant to be her turn but it failed horribly. AJ's promo on the Total Divas was meant to turn them all face but seeing as most of the audience didn't watch Total Divas, care about the Divas AJ was talking about or just straight up agreed with her it fell flat on it's face. When the WWE expected AJ's promo to cement her as a heel and everyone as a face it's no wonder that they are confused as to why nobody really gives a shit about Brie.

When the WWE expected AJ's promo to cement her as a heel and everyone as a face it's no wonder that they are confused as to why nobody really gives a shit about Brie. The problem with that is even after AJ cut that promo, I can still recall the Bellas continuing to act like the same bitchy women they've always been weeks later on WWE television, even still refusing to get along with the Funkadactyls/Natalya in tag matches. It wasn't until recently they suddenly stopped being heels for whatever reason. Not to mention the Bellas were completely blowing her off while she cut the promo, as if they didn't care. Really the only person who they showed to have any problem with it was Natalya, and that was an online exclusive promo. If they had let Brie and the others cut some sort of promo the week after where she was pissed and called AJ out on her hypocrisy, sold the effects that promo had on her, then maybe we could've sympathized with her a little. Instead they just kept doing the same thing they were doing before. In fact the only real retaliation I can think of on their part was the Total Divas all ganging up on and attacking AJ at once. And that's hardly a move that a babyface would utilize. That and a short backstage segment where the Total Divas acted all bitchy and Cameron said a bunch of her catchphrases.

How is AJ relatable? Her gimmick is that she's completely insane and kind of a groupy.

In other news... WWE officials are confused as to why Andre the Giant isn't returning their phone calls.
But seriously, does anyone else hate her even more now that she is going out with Daniel Bryan? Like when your best mate starts going out with a terrible person just because he has suddenly got popular and she is hot. I think he could do better.
(Have never watched Total Divas though)

(Have never watched Total Divas though) Actually from what little I've seen of Total Divas, I think her and Bryan go well together. I often feel that the WWE is constantly trying to give Brie the same personality as her bitchy sister, because of the whole being a twin thing, but sometimes you see her real personality come through, and I can see why someone like Bryan would like her.

Fair enough. As I said it was pure speculation on my part. I just don't want her to steal little DB away from us

The Bellas do have personalities, but it's being bitches
If they were heels who embraced this and played up to it, it would be fine
If it's heroes to the masses, it won't work, because it's incompatible with their well-established personas, and there's been no moment of clarity where they changed into faces.

^BADA BOOM! SANEST GUY IN THE ROOM! Z-A-Y-N, ZAYN!!! fixed On a more serious note, I also think the way the match was worked might've had something to do with this as well. Brie controlled most of the match with Tamina only getting a few power moves here and there. It's not really the best way to establish Tamina as a monster heel and Brie as a plucky underdog babyface.

That would make the WWE look even worse if they were to continue a failing angle just for such superficial reasons. He's not anybody future wife , but it wouldn't be the first time WWE never stopped with a forced push that no one cared about.
