Hey, I'd be cool with them taking a random girl as well. Just not a "I wrestle good" SHIMMER girl. TNA needs someone who stands out in the Knockouts division. Most of them are pretty decent wrestlers so why not find a 10/10 model instead of someone just like the rest? Because a 10/10 model would need to be trained from scratch, both from an in ring and acting standpoint, something TNA aren't set up to do? Plus 10/10 model girls just want to be on TV and don't really want to take bumps, just look at the churn rate from Diva searches and Johnny Ace's underwear catalogue fixation which isn't good by any stretch of the imagination. With Shine and Shimmer girls, you know they have a passion for the business, they're trained, know how to actually work a crowd and are ready, willing and able to do what it takes in order to make money for themselves and for the company they work for, that is more important than having someone who is essentially a prop. Honestly, during the period they were pairing the former models up with wrestlers in the WWE, most of them could have gotten more over had they carried a cardboard cutout of Angelina Jolie to the ring and acted like it was a real person. I cannot fathom why anyone who likes wrestling would want an untrained girl added to the roster because she's slightly hotter than they perceive trained female wrestlers to be. It'd be like a fan of a TV comedy demanding a girl who can't act and has no sense of comic timing be cast in a recurring role on a popular show because she's hotter than Kristen Schaal. If not wrestling how will I ever see hot babes!?

Outside talent? Why not Serena? I would say concussions and personal issues, but this is TNA, I'd be surprised if they haven't reached out to her as she's shown she's willing to work with them.

Leva Bates? She lives in Florida and once worked a dark match for the company and she was associated with the Aces and Eights in one backstage segment.

I know she took a year off for the concussion, but I figured she was in the clear when she started back wrestling earlier this year. Don't know anything about any personal issue, though.

TNA has multiple contacts for this type of thing, hell send some hot model chicks to learn the basics at the Team 3.D Academy or something. 2. You're definitely entitled to your opinion in regards to the SHIMMER and SHINE girls but in my opinion most of them are horrible actress' and only get over because they're all attractive and share a mutual interest with the men in the crowd. I've brought this up before but the SHIMMER girls all wrestle the same and all their gimmicks are incredibly basic and quite frankly, not that entertaining. Hey, look! Here's Jessie McKay she's a school girl. Woo! Hey! Here comes Shazza McKenzie! She's just a hot chick who wears skimpy attire! Here comes Portia Perez! Her gimmick is that she's really mean! That's really how basic those girls are. Now if TNA had someone like Vince Russo still in office who had original ideas for these girls to make them stand out and be different then sure, bring them in but TNA doesn't have that. TNA has the exact same issue with their wrestlers that SHIMMER does. What's the difference between Austin Aries and Bobby Roode gimmick wise? Kurt Angle and Christopher Daniels? TNA has very basic gimmicks as well and it hurts them. The last thing TNA needs is to add a bunch of boring unoriginal gimmicks to a division that is already boring and unoriginal. 3. It's simple. The fans get their fix of good wrestling from your male wrestlers guys like Angle, Aries, Roode, Sabin etc are all capable of very very good matches. A Chris Sabin Vs Jeff Hardy 10 minute match is always going to be more entertaining then a Jessie McKay Vs Portia Perez match. Most women in the United States do not know how to emphasize their strengths and hide their weakness' in ring. In Japan, the women can have great matches and I am entertained by them. The girls in SHIMMER try very hard to wrestle like men and it just doesn't get over with anyone except a very small niche audience. You can't bring something like that to National Television, it's boring. I know I'm coming off as a bit of an asshole in this post reading it back but honestly, I'm not calling you out or anything. If you like the SHIMMER girls and what they bring to the table that's great. I just feel TNA could do a lot better then a couple of generic characters that wrestle "okay" compared to the men.

This is completely irrelevant but I really find CM Punk to be a punchable wanker but I don't go into every CM Punk post saying that fact. In the thick of things though what is the real difference between Angle and Daniels? To give you an example of what I mean back in the early 2000's in WWE (I use this example because I don't follow current WWE) you had Stone Cold Steve Austin who was a beer drinking tough guy who liked to fight and hated everybody. The Rock, another top baby face was a cocky face who did a lot of funny segments and catch phrases but could also be serious. He was also a champion to the people and a good role model. Those are both very different gimmicks. You then throw in guys like Taker, Kane, Triple H who are all completely different from Rock and Austin as well. With Angle and Daniels who are basically two top guys you have one who's entire gimmick is that he's a great wrestler. Christopher Daniels has that exact same gimmick except he does it whilst sipping a martini. Take that prop away and they have the exact same gimmcik. I like TNA itself because I'm a fan of a lot of guys there but a lot of their characters are stale and not a lot have evolved with the time. Kurt Angle does the exact same gimmick he was doing in 2006. Samoa Joe has the same gimmick since he debuted. They aren't characters who capture you and draw you in. As for the women's wrestling thing. I do like women's wrestling just not the same as you. The really small Japanese girls who go out and do spot fests that you can't see men do are really amazing and I actually seek that stuff out occasionally. I'm not particularly a huge fan of sex sells type matches but at least they'd keep my attention, the knockouts division doesn't currently do that for me. As for why I posted, The OP asked who they should bring in and I said someone with name value. I feel the Knockouts division lacks a big star so TNA should look to fill that void.

The problem with "just get a big star" is that there ARE no big stars in women's wrestling. The biggest star in women's wrestling history was Chyna (TNA had her for one match, it failed, she chose porno over being a TNA Knockout- which should SAY something). The biggest star of the last "era" of women's wrestling was Mickie James- TNA just had her, she didn't change the game that much for TNA. TNA's gotten plenty of "big stars" by women's wrestling standards, and they are the absolute worst possible move for TNA: They demand too much money, and they'll NEVER live up to the money they DO get paid. And if it's "well, sign some models"...even THAT doesn't work well. TNA doesn't have the developmental territory to make a model into a top-tier wrestler, and even if they did- any model who'd entertain working for TNA isn't at a level where they're a BIG enough star to matter. And even if, by some miracle, TNA managed to get Kate Upton to agree to become the next TNA Knockout- then you have the same "too much money and will NEVER live up to the price tag" problem that Chyna and Mickie James had, only worse because she'd be MORE expensive.
The fact is- you're RIGHT that women's wrestling is a niche market. It always WILL be. That's why you HAVE to go with SHIMMER/SHINE wrestlers, simply because they'll exploit that simple fact: women's wrestling is a niche market, it always WILL be a niche market, so it's better to sign low-cost women's wrestlers who have the potential to be valuable.
Would the Jessie McKay vs. Portia Perez 10 minute match be equal to Chris Sabin/Jeff Hardy? Not on your life. It doesn't HAVE to be- it has to be equal to a Miss Tessmacher vs. Velvet Sky match- and it CAN be equal to that.

Here's my advice.
Hire talented female workers, book them in strong compelling storylines and give them characters that connect with an audience, thus all contributing to creating a stable, long term, solid women's division that people want to watch.
TNA should try that

It doesn't HAVE to be- it has to be equal to a Miss Tessmacher vs. Velvet Sky match- and it CAN be equal to that. You just proved my point though. Women's wrestling is always described as "It was good, for a women's match" but they should be compared to the men if they're in the same company. If McKay/Portia can't outdo Sabin/Hardy then why would I watch? Wouldn't I just wait for the good wrestlers and not the filler? That's why you need to make them different. In ring they can't compete with the men talent wise so they need to do something that the men can't. Whether that is sex sells or something completely new and original is irrelevant. They just need to be doing something different.

TNA should try that For the life of me, I will never accept why TNA didn't just stick to it. They're already a niche product. The people who like WWE aren't going to ever watch their show in the numbers that watch Raw. Hardly anyone pays for the PPVs as is. What the hell do they have to lose by putting the machine behind women's wrestling? The people who watch Impact now are going to watch it no matter what, the people who buy their PPVs now are going to buy them no matter what. The only chance they have with growing their audience is going after an audience WWE doesn't care enough to court. And with Gail's challenge, it looks like their best bet really is to mine SHIMMER and SHINE because it's not like OVW did them much good.

Fans have been conditioned to view women's wrestling as inferior because it's been booked as being inferior. Ideally, a company should be booked with all major divisions (main event, mid card, tag, womens and lesser weight) as equally high quality. If women were allowed to put on classics, they would. Sex is a non-starter. You can never depict sex in wrestling, and male viewers have much more explicit options to indulge those particular tastes. They don't need to do anything different, they just need to be booked strongly as wrestlers. Wrestling isn't rocket science. It only struggles when idiotic bookers think they are writing something other than wrestling.

Hire a model with no wrestling background? hahahahahah! Ok, let's just hop in a time machine back to 1998 while we're at it! oh man...hah!
The internet exists and EVERYONE uses it to lust after hot chicks.
For a wrestling show, even more than looks and wrestling ability, a performer's got to have personality and a strong story behind them.
Just look at TNA's main "competition" (term used very loosely here) - WWE. They hired a model in Eva Marie and she can't wrestle and no real personality - f***ing debacle there isn't it?
If TNA's going to do an outside hire/storyline they should definitely pull someone from the independent and/or foreign market. Maybe European or something because TNA supposedly does very well in England.
But just hiring some hot chick cause she's hot? Haha, ok - yeah, well, let's revive the nWo while we're at it and turn Hogan heel. REVOLUTIONARY!!!!

If you like the SHIMMER girls and what they bring to the table that's great. I just feel TNA could do a lot better then a couple of generic characters that wrestle "okay" compared to the men. Sex alone doesn't really sell in wrestling though does it? The WWE has had all kinds of hot former models in the past 10 years and most of them have done nothing, heck, over the years the former models they've wanted to push have had to be sent to Smackdown where the reactions can be edited because live crowds don't react to them because they're wooden as hell on the mic and in the ring. See Michelle McCool and so many other interchangable former models. 1. That has been tried numerous times, it didn't work, see the Diva search girls and TNA's attempt to make something out of Lacey von Erich? Remember when they stuck her with the Beautiful People? Face facts, people don't like watching green wrestlers no matter what the gender and it takes a hell of a push to overcome that, a lot of green gals the WWE have tried that with have left wrestling the moment their contract is up, remember Maryse? Michelle McCool? Kelly Kelly? All money and TV time well spent, I'm sure you'll agree... And as for letting Team 3d's school train them, remember the stellar job they did with Betsy Ruth? I'm sure Daffney does. 2. Shimmer and Shine are indy feds, they tend to draw small audiences, I know, it comes as a bit of a shock, but it's true, however they sell enough DVD's and merchadise to keep going so obviously someone likes their product. The booking in these companies isn't great, and if this were a thread on whether or not TNA should hire Dave Prazak your complaints may actually mean something, but they're no more to blame for how they're booked than John Cena is for his stale booking in the WWE. Russo had no part in the knockout's division if I remember correctly, it was Scott D'Amore and the Prichard/Lagana led team managed to get people to care about Tarryn Terrel which is a feat in itself. I shudder to imagine how the knockouts would have been booked had Vince Russo been more hands on, he was the creative mind that brought us Bertha Faye and wanted Leilani Kai to wrestle in mud. 3. It is the booking team's job to make people care about everyone on the roster, if you put those two names in a good, meaningful feud people will respond to it, I'm not sure why that idea is so hard for to grasp. If you treat any type of wrestling as an afterthought or joke, the audience won't respond to it. I have no idea what 'trying to wrestle like men' means, if you mean actually wrestling, then there have been lots of feuds featuring actual good women's matches that people respond to, it's things like 'bra and panties' matches, or awkward catfights between two poorly trained gals that are generally used as a p*ssbreak by the audience. I don't think you sound like an a-hole, I just think you flat out don't like women's wrestling, which is fine, but you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who'll agree that a poorly trained model will somehow be a good use of TV time when that's never been the case in the past.

While I don't agree with Sor main points, sex appeal of course will play a part in what ever diva they bring in. Just like sex appeal plays a part in male wrestlers too. Just look at the wwe and it's easily argue that 90% of their main eventers are conventionally good looking guys (Cena/Orton/Cody/Punk/Bryan/Rock).
So while sex appeal should play a part, wrestling talent still matters or else no one will give a sh** about those girls.

There's a lot of difference between Daniels and Angle, Daniels is f***ing hilarious as are Roode and Kaz, not to be an asshole to you either but I read your posts and I don't know what the hell you want from TNA? For the record if you don't like women's wrestling that's cool but you don't have to post the fact that you hate it on every single women's wrestling post. I feel like you're contradicting yourself. You want names, but anyone who's put in the work to establish themselves as a name has gone beyond T'n'A wrestling. The only way your merger of names + sex will really move the needle at all is if TNA convinces Scarlett Johansson to take her top off on Impact. Sex sells but only enough to get you in the door, if there's nothing else to stick around for then these people will just stick to the internet like everyone else. TNA has and had women who can wrestle just as well as the men (Cheerleader Melissa, Gail Kim, ODB, Kong, Hamada) and that's a far more eclectic and compelling cast of characters than the typical Johnny Ace casting couch. I just don't think there are legions of TNA holdouts just waiting for them to show more cleavage before they give them any attention. You reference the Attitude era but the thing is with the Attitude era is no one stayed with WWE soley for the smut, it was titillating, for sure, but booked around the smut was an organization that knew what it was and how to sell itself. If I'm a casual fan and hot chicks entice me to watch TNA, once that thrill wears out I'm not gonna see much worth sticking around for. I have to disagree with your assessment that womens wrestling should just give up and shake their boobs around because they can't live up to Japanese wrestling because A) it's not fair to quality North American womens wrestlers to write them off just because we have a different style than they do in Japan. And B) It's a complete double standard. We cry foul when we get guys like Rob Terry and Pacman Jones who are brought around either because of their looks or name and it's frustrating, and to me it shouldn't be any different with the women. As a wrestling fan who respects anyone in the business who genuinely loves it and wants to contribute I find it just awful to push them aside for models who just need a gig.
