I hate him because he's boring, his gimmick has drifted, and for some reason the WWE keeps putting world titles on him.

I don't believe that he never gets any crowd reaction, every time I have seen him live he gets the loudest boos of the night.

WWE stripped everything away that made him just a little interesting. Being rich, the car entrance and Ricardo. Now he's just an aggressive Mexican guy in a scarf.

it's not just the nebulous hivemind "IWC". it's the entire live audience. he's a good wrestler but he lacks that certain something that makes the audience care about people. he's basically Rob Conway with a superman push.

I like him. Liked him since the first vignette and haven't stopped liking him.
This is one of those times where I don't get the hivemind at all. I think Alberto Del Rio is the biggest most glaring example of the utter sucktitude of WWE Creative.
More than Sheamus, more than anybody, WWE Creative has botched Alberto Del Rio. But, whatever. He's boring because he is.

I loved him right up until he lost to Edge at WrestleMania. It has been a steady downhill decline ever since.

Because he got the push they wanted for Daniel Bryan. Yes, I would rather have Daniel Bryan shoved down my throat than Del Rio but that doesn't mean I hate the guy.

He's had the same gimmick, face or heel. There's nothing remotely likeable or redeeming about a Mexican aristocrat. Struggling to think of any matches I enjoyed (out of against Mysterio).
Great look, solid moveset, I know he has great mannerisms and facial expressions but English not being his first language, I can see how he does not translate (no pun intended) on screen.
He's a product of terrible and insipid booking when they suddenly decided they needed to embrace the Hispanic market.

I was gonna bring it up in the boring Orton thread but Del Rio has absolutely no following. The other thread was about the live crowd chanting boring during Orton's match but at least they are paying attention to the match. In Del Rio's matches, the crowd cheers for random things like other wrestlers or the announcers. I used to be one of the people to criticize that as the crowd trying to get themselves over, but it always happens during Del Rio's matches.
I can't 100% it still happens because I literally change the channel anytime Del Rio comes on screen. He has been in the top spot for far too long with the same, albeit more aggressive, character for years and it's incredibly dull and annoying.

Absolutely dull as ditch water, not over in the slightest and yet he keeps being pushed into a prominent spot.

I'm a fan, but I get why people aren't into him. Take away the most interesting aspects and you're just left with the dude and his moveset/matches.

I honestly don't know why.
Maybe its the whole "Big deal fairly quickly thing" that gave people a bad taste in their mouth.
I can see why people wouldn't like him, but I generally enjoy his promos and matches. His character and motivation is very murky, but that's nearly EVERY wwe superstar so...
That "Ultimate Gringo" promo he cut on Cena was very entertaining. I like when he plays the sleazy telenovela villain to be honest.

Because he's not very interesting. In fact, the most interesting things about him were his theme song and Ricardo and since they got rid of them both...

"Gringo Gringo Gringo Gringo Perro Gringo Gringo Gringo Gringo Gringo Destiny Gringo Gringo Gringo Gringo" - Alberto Del Rio on commentary
At least I could fast-forward him when he was separate from everything else but now he's ruining perfectly good matches.
The main issue is that he hasn't justified the pushes he's received, ask most people to name any memorable moments he's given us and it's a bit of a struggle, although nearly everybody (including me) seems to think he played his part perfectly in that Christmas episode.

Del Rio has all the tools. He's a handsome man, good body, good ring attire, the Mexican heritage, the experience in the ring, the entrance music (his old one), ability to cut a promo...I can see what they see in him. He SHOULD be a big star. The problem is a few things. For starters, he's awful at improvising, which is a big thing that helps an audience connect with someone. They keep putting him on commentary, and that exposes it. The other problem is that he's supposed to to be this wealthy Mexican aristocrat, but do we ever see him express this in a meaningful way? He used to drive cars to the ring, but that made his entrance a bit too long. So what else? Do we ever see him at his home, does he ever flaunt his wealth, or is he ever shown wasting his riches on purpose in a downed economy? No. He goes on the mic, calls people peasants, and waves around a Mexican flag. Why am I supposed to hate him when his character has become so damn boring? He started out with a bang, and you can probably look around on these boards around October, 2010 to see people loving the guy. I used to be a huge fan of him. But he got stale, and then they turned him face, and they put on this shtick that nobody believed, and they even had Punk go out there when he turned heel again to express just why the face turn didn't work. And now they gave him a few Mexican flags and had him ditch Ricardo.
They can do better for Del Rio because he's such a gifted performer. But as it stands, the guy's boring. They got him and Cesaro mixed up.

He's been overpushed for so long now and so much of what made him interesting or at least potentially interesting stripped away from him. He's got obvious ring skills but he's not being doing as well as some of the other lads who put on great matches every week and I think he does have charisma but is hampered by the fact that he's not speaking his native language.
