Thought this might be kind of an interesting thread; basically, what are some non-political/religious conspiracy theories that you believe in?
The main one that I believe in is that Super Bowl XL was rigged to get Jerome Bettis his ring. The NFL loves a good feel-good story, so I absolutely think that the... cards were in the Steelers' favor to get that win.
On the same foot, it wouldn't surprise me if the Ravens Super Bowl win was set up to get Ray his ring. The NFL loves Ray Lewis for whatever reason, and the story line of him getting his ring is way too sweet to pass up. Can I prove it was rigged? No, but if there was a conspiracy, I certainly don't think it was against the Ravens like Ray Lewis thinks there was.
We all want to believe, so what conspiracy theories do you subscribe to?

-Varg Vikernes of Mayhem/Burzum infamy wasn't ever actually a nazi and it was all a ploy to avoid getting killed in prison.

For a while I used to believe the rumors that someone else/Courtney Love killed Kurt Cobain. Not sure if I still do or not...

For a while I used to believe the rumors that someone else/Courtney Love killed Kurt Cobain. Not sure if I still do or not... I had a friend who was insistent that Dave Grohl was behind it because he was tired of living in Kurt's shadow and wanted to use Kurt's death to drum up some hype for the Foo Fighters. not that I believed her, but she had a pretty long list of reasons for why she thought this way.

I believe that David Stern (NBA Commissioner) rigged the 20032 Western Conference Finals between the Lakers and Kings in favor of the Lakers. The Lakers were a big money market and the "Sexy" team, so to speak, the Kings were the lovable underdogs...but not nearly as marketable. Regardless, the officiating in Game Six of that series rivals that of the 2006 Finals in terms of most blatantly unfair.
Edited for correctness.

OK that is literally the only person I haven't heard someone claim it was... Well him and Noveselic... but I'm sure we can come up with some reasons for him too... maybe it's part of the long term effects of taking a bass to the skull?

After reading the case over a few times, I believe George Reeves was actually murdered.
I think the NFL is secretly a lot like the WWE...it's mostly rigged/fake. Teams like the Browns and Jaguars are the jobbers and will always be the jobbers, while teams like Pittsburgh and the Packers are the big hero teams that are guaranteed at least one Super Bowl every 10 years or so. Some of the owners of certain teams have paid off those in charge of the NFL to get a Super Bowl run. I guess in that way it's kind of a half WWE/half Mafia thing.

Some of the owners of certain teams have paid off those in charge of the NFL to get a Super Bowl run. I guess in that way it's kind of a half WWE/half Mafia thing. I've thought that before, but there are a couple flaws present that stop me from believing it. A) The 1st flaw in the theory is that it'd be INCREDIBLY hard to rig one game, let alone entire seasons to get a team to the Super Bowl. You'd need players who are very believable actors who take convincing dives, if you will, and it wouldn't take long before people started noticing wonky officiating that always goes in the favor of Team A or Team B. I'm not talking about a bad call every once in a while, it'd have to be every single game and it wouldn't be worth the league's time anyway because... B) Football is so popular in America that people would watch the Playoffs and/or Super Bowl no matter who was in it. So it really wouldn't hurt business that much if the Jags were in the Super Bowl instead of the Broncos, and the Vikings instead of the Packers. People will watch regardless, and it's still billions of dollars for the league.

Ray already had a Super Bowl ring before last year. But the NFL absolutely wanted him to win another, so he could ride off into the sunset (and by sunset, I mean ESPN studios).

-Michael Jordan suspended from the NBA for gambling.
-Draft lottery rigged so that the Knicks could get Patrick Ewing.
-The aforementioned Sacramento/Lakers playoff debacle.
-Boxing is faker than the WWE.
I'll come up with some more in a little bit.

I honestly think the reason weatherman get their forecasts wrong, is because they hold betting pools with each other to see who's forecast come true.
