I kind of believe the whole Michael Jordan played minor league baseball for a year as a secret suspension from the NBA for his gigantic gambling addiction.

This is a little different: I believe that Julius Caesar truly believed he was Brutus' father. It's also somewhat likely that he was Brutus' father, considering he had a lifelong affair with Servillia, Brutus' mother. They were both very young at the time, but it was quite possible. Proof is that, according to several sources, he had an especial fondness for Brutus. He also made him the secondary beneficiary in his will, in the event of Octavian's death. The argument against him being Brutus' father revolves around the fact that it could have just been a rumor to make his killing of Julius Caesar patricide on top of the simple murder of a close friend and that Caesar would have only been roughly 15, I think, at the time. The former argument is reasonable, but the latter one really isn't. 15 year olds father children all the time today and they were just as capable of it in antiquity. We can never know for certain, of course...but I'd say it's more likely than not that Julius Caesar at the very least believed he was Brutus' father and that it's also relatively likely that he was. --- I also firmly believe that Marshal Ney's execution was faked and that he escaped France, moved to America, and became a school teacher. It's too detailed a theory for me to explain here. So here's a link I just found on google that tells it a little bit better: www.napoleonicsociety.com/english/neya.htm

I think the NFL is secretly a lot like the WWE...it's mostly rigged/fake. Teams like the Browns and Jaguars are the jobbers and will always be the jobbers, while teams like Pittsburgh and the Packers are the big hero teams that are guaranteed at least one Super Bowl every 10 years or so. Some of the owners of certain teams have paid off those in charge of the NFL to get a Super Bowl run. I guess in that way it's kind of a half WWE/half Mafia thing. I've thought that before, but there are a couple flaws present that stop me from believing it. A) The 1st flaw in the theory is that it'd be INCREDIBLY hard to rig one game, let alone entire seasons to get a team to the Super Bowl. You'd need players who are very believable actors who take convincing dives, if you will, and it wouldn't take long before people started noticing wonky officiating that always goes in the favor of Team A or Team B. I'm not talking about a bad call every once in a while, it'd have to be every single game and it wouldn't be worth the league's time anyway because... B) Football is so popular in America that people would watch the Playoffs and/or Super Bowl no matter who was in it. So it really wouldn't hurt business that much if the Jags were in the Super Bowl instead of the Broncos, and the Vikings instead of the Packers. People will watch regardless, and it's still billions of dollars for the league. Take the ending of this year's Patriots-Saints game. I understand how that would be a well "booked" finish. Tight game, edge of your seat action, and the team that was about to lose pulling victory from the jaws of defeat at literally the last second with a difficult to pull off touchdown pass. However, something easily could have gone wrong with that pass even with The Saints' defense being complicit in letting Brady get the pass off that could've caused it to be incomplete. I guess they could've called one b.s. defensive penalty call after another until they get it right. That's why I refuse to believe NFL games are rigged seeing as how so many things can go wrong with passing plays and field goal attempts even if the refs are on the take and all 22 players on the field being in on it that could ruin whatever finish the powers that be desire to happen. I can see how NBA games could be fixed. refs can call bullshit fouls on the team they want to lose since that would give the chosen team a chance to score points with penalty shots. Now obviously penalty free throws aren't a "given" either, but it's much easier than a last minute "Hail Mary" touchdown pass.

I believe that David Stern (NBA Commissioner) rigged the 2003 Western Conference Finals between the Lakers and Kings in favor of the Lakers. The Lakers were a big money market and the "Sexy" team, so to speak, the Kings were the lovable underdogs...but not nearly as marketable. Regardless, the officiating in Game Six of that series rivals that of the 2006 Finals in terms of most blatantly unfair. It was 2002. I think that Game Six was rigged so that there would be a 7th game, but I don't think the series was rigged. There were horrible calls against both teams that entire series, but the 6th game is where it all favored the Lakers. The NBA knew that Lakers vs Kings was pretty much the NBA Finals, because neither the Nets or Celtics were going to beat them in a 7 game series, so they wanted Lakers vs Kings to go 7 games. Patrick Ewing going to the Knicks. The NBA made sure New York got the number 1 pick.

The LA streetcar conspiracy (by car, petrol and tyre companies)
Supression of the electric car (by car and petrol companies)
Supression of cures for certain medicial conditions (more money made from treatments).

As a huge Lakers fan, I liked that Kings squad and was pulling for them that year. And again, even though I wasn't upset the Lakers won, yeah...that game was awful. The only time where I bought into the idea that the refs were bought or something.
My grandma always said that J. Edgar Hoover had Kennedy killed or had some involvement/knowledge of it because Hoover couldn't control or bully Kennedy like he did with the other presidents. After seeing J. Edgar and other movies, I could see that.

This probably fits better in one of the wrestling boards, but I firmly believe in the whole "Vince Russo was sent by Vince McMahon to WCW to destroy it from the inside" theory. {Spoiler}On another note, relating on the Raven's Superbowl win, some of you guys are just mad that your teams lost.

Vince and friends are intentionally sabotaging their product so shares will low enough for them to take WWE of the market and make it private again.

I don't believe for one second that Michael Jordan "retired" to play baseball in 1993. He was absolutely suspended for gambling, but the last thing the NBA and corrupt-ass David Stern would ever want would be the face of the league suspended for some nefarious off-court dealings, so Stern and Jordan struck an accord that he'd "leave the game" for a few months, but found a way to cover it up with the whole baseball schtick.
I also don't believe that Tim Donaghy was a lone "rogue referee" as Stern so eloquently put it.

After reading the case over a few times, I believe George Reeves was actually murdered. I think the NFL is secretly a lot like the WWE...it's mostly rigged/fake. Or those teams have competent management group and the other teams management group is incompetent, owners aren't as rich as the other owners so they aren't willing to pay more for franchise players, can't attract free agents because they are bad. - Anyways I believe the NHL 2005 and 2007 draft lottery was rigged - I believe the NHL always tries to get many game sevens as possible in the playoffs. - The Ukraine and France game was rigged beyond belief yesterday because no way in hell would they allow France to miss the world Cup and isn't FIFA's president French? Also why is it always Ukraine vs. France every qualifying year or being in the same division as always? Is it because it's a incredible one sided rivalry for France?

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Bret Hart, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall as well as various other former WWE talent were in on it as well. Vince could have told each of them how to rub Hulk Hogan the right way to get in good with him and do more damage...or how to rub him the wrong way and cause a fit and do more damage.

I hate sounding like a dumbass, and maybe I just am, but I do find it hard to believe that for the last 60 years the Browns have never been wealthy enough nor their staff competent enough to even get to the Super Bowl. No, the Ravens don't count.

No, the Ravens don't count. It's about the size of the TV market that gets sports teams the most revenue. Notice in baseball the biggest spending teams are the cities with the biggest television markets not necessary the size of the city? It's what makes the team value sky rocket high and how the most expensive team requires the richest owner. But how rich a owner doesn't mean Jack shit if the day to day operations are shit. If your GM is a moron who makes moronic trades and signings, who hired bigger moron scouts and a bigger moron of a coach, the team will never good. Especially in a league that has a salary cap. Not unlike in baseball where money buys championships

For a while I used to believe the rumors that someone else/Courtney Love killed Kurt Cobain. Not sure if I still do or not... After seeing the documentary Kurt & Courtney, I'm almost positive Courtney had something to do with Kurt's demise. This is the urban legend I actually want to be true, only cause it will give me a real reason to despise her. To add one, I still kind of wonder if the Kanye/Taylor thing at the VMAs was a work to get everyone behind her.

Supression of cures for certain medicial conditions (more money made from treatments). I doubt this one. Someone finds a cure for a major illness and can then dole it out at an incredible price (before bootleg versions come into existence), and retire rich or use the money in a huge number of investment schemes. That seems way too good to pass up.
