I've found another really good beer, only available to us East coasters: Smuttynose Durty Mud Seasion Hoppy Brown Ale is pretty much a hoppy brown ale on steroids, and surprisingly well balanced to boot. Well balanced if you like hops, that is. Doesn't drink like 8.4% at all, either. Words cannot describe how much I want to sample HT. My brother in law went to Vermont to get this for me for Christmas, got stranded in a snowstorm and had to spend almost 2 days in a hotel. Worth it, its the holy trinity of IPAs with the Pliny Boys Hey Mac, have you ever tried anything from Jack's Abby? They seem to be one of the 'it' breweries in the Northeast these days, and brew nothing but lagers.

JUST the thread I was hoping to find!
I've been looking for an everyday beer that I could simply go to a restaurant and order with lunch or dinner. I've tried Bud, Redd's, Miller, but they're all too bitter for my taste. I love a sweeter taste, could drink Smirnoff or Mike's Hard for days. But I really want to find the right beer for me. Help me FAN, you're my only hope!

I'm a pretty big fan. Surprisingly this is the first Jack's Abbey I've ever had after hearing so much about it.

Help me FAN, you're my only hope! Cider is becoming really popular, I recommend you trying an Angry Orchard hard cider with a Fireball float. It's commonly called an Angry Balls. As far as beer goes I'm on a huge Stout and Porter kick and since I live near a lot of bars and breweries I tend to try a new beer every week. I have different beers for different situations. Party beer for drinking games I go with PBR or Rolling Rock. If I want to actually enjoy my beer I go with anything from Lost Coast Brewery out of Eureka, especially their Tangerine Wheat.

Currently my favored beers are the good old coopers pale ale and macs great white.
While I do enjoy a lot of the local craft beer I can't help but feel that they picked up some bad habits from the Americans by trying to make them hoppy as humanly possible.

Southern Tier Blackwater Series has some friggin' INCREDIBLE brews.
Tops on my list are the Warlock (a pumpkin stout that tastes more like pumpkin pie) and Creme Brulee.

Don't drink a lot of beer personally the beers so I don't really have a favorite... Some of the ones I've enjoyed enough to remember what they are... Sam Adams, Boston Lager, Oktoberfest, Summer Ale. Monty Python's Holy Ale Guinness and an IPA called Hoptimus Prime... which was ok... and I think I may only buy because of the name

No offense, but it was like drinking goat spit.

I like the different varieties of the Leinenkeugel beers.
As for Texas beers, I've become a big fan of St. Arnold.

Heady Topper.
I chug it from the can too!
And the brewery's only a half hour away. Ditto for many other great breweries in my state!

Duff, anyone?
But seriously, some of my favorites are Old Rasputin, Newcastle Brown Ale, Arrogant Bastard, and Guinness on tap.

One of the bars near my place has Old Rasputin on tap, it's delightful.
I'm very spoiled in Jersey City: we have a place called HopScotch, Barcade (the craft beer bar with an 80's arcade!), the Iron Monkey, Zeppelin Hall, and various other bars that carry dozens of taps and usually stock them with craft options. It sounds silly to say, but while I enjoyed growing up in the suburbs I feel like I'd have a hard time walking away from all the obscure beer options I get on an average night out.

I had seen that one right next to the regular Smoked Porter, but wasn't sure how it would be. I'll give it a try next time I go looking for a beer.

I'm not usually a big beer fan but Yuengling is great.
I also grew to be a fan of Leinenkugel's original when I lived in Wisconsin for 2 years.
