It's CM Punk. He probably just looks like he's retired.

Punk strikes me as the sort of guy who wants all the perks of being a famous, successful pro wrestler, like being over and having the respect and admiration of your peers, but at the same time wants his private life to be completely private, which is just not gonna' happen when you're one of the most recognizable wrestlers from the biggest wrestling company on the planet. For a guy who revitalized his career essentially by bitching about his position on the card, you'd think Punk would be a bit more prepared for the "drawbacks" of a main event spot, like being recognized in public. Really, Punk makes more money in a year than most of his fans will see in their lives. The least he could do is maybe be a bit more gracious to the people who got him to that point. I know fans can be overbearing sometimes (the incidents in the OP being good examples) but Punk's the only guy I've basically never heard a positive thing about from people encountering him outside of shows and signings. This is all a bit off-topic, of course - if he's retired than good for him - but this whole "pity the poor celebrity, they have it hard too!" sentiment is bullshit regardless of who it's coming from. I think you're allowed to think parts of your life suck regardless of how blessed you are, and are allowed to express it. I could have the cutest little dog, and pet it, and enjoy its company, but if it jumps into my lap and lands paws-first on my crotch, it still hurts, despite how many people can't have a dog, or are allergic to them, etc.

He's mentioned her on air before, and I believe she was on his DVD. She's a credible source, I'd imagine. Guess it shows how he views his fans if he does not have the courtesy to tell them himself that he is done. I don't think he's allowed to say much of anything until his contract is up.

I find it very hard to sympathise with Punk bitching about fans wanting to see him and meet him and get his autograph.
First of all, I just don't see Punk been that famous. This seems like a huge exaggeration. I mean, he's a wrestler which is a pretty niche form of entertainment in the first place. Secondly, he's not even the biggest name in this era of wrestling. I'd say Cena, 'Taker and Brock are all much more well known to people who don't like wrestling than Punk is. Thirdly. He's bitching about been famous, rich and popular. There are plenty of people across the world who would love to be in Punk's position. He should be grateful, not bitching about how hard his life is whilst his bank account is full to bursting and he's achieved pretty everything he can in his career.
Maybe I'm wrong, but this seems like Punk exaggerating and making a mountain out of a molehill. Besides, he WANTED to be the #1 guy in the company. Having fans want your autograph is part and parcel of been the #1 guy.
Plus, whining about a cute little kid putting chocolate in his letterbox is pretty stupid. Personally, I'd have found that adorable and given the kid a free t-shirt or autographed photo or something.

Maybe if he wanted peace and quiet, he could've chosen not to live in a city with millions of people.

It's tough.
He's got all the money, fame, and the life everyone would want. But Punk, from everything I've read on him, seems to be pretty introverted, at least when he's not wrestling. It's quite the double edge sword though. He gets all these nice seats at UFC fights, Hockey games, but there's the other side of constant harassment. I wonder if he would have been happier if he just stuck around in Ring of Honor and stayed the big fish in a small pond. I know for awhile he was doing a lot inside of the company, from the wrestling school, to commentary, and all that fun stuff.
I'd actually think if he had the choice, doing that for ROH on the side would be good for him. If he still has a passion for wrestling, he can still get that out of the way, while still keeping himself out of the public.

I don't care if you are a cute little kid or not, showing up at someone's home uninvited is crossing the line no matter how famous the person is. The fans shouldn't be "rewarded" for stalking.

I can see people wanting dudes to be cordial and stuff when they're in public. Sure, that's absolutely par for the course.
But being a little put out when someone shows up to your house? That's totally normal, and in no way makes someone a dickwad or whatever else. People not respecting ANY boundaries just cuz you're famous, that's f***ed up.

"I want to be the face of a massive entertainment company...but I don't want a lot of hassle." That's not fair. He didn't do it to be famous, he did it to get to the top of an industry he loved and that inspired him. I'm glad he did instead of going "well I don't want to work my ass off and be the best, because I might get famous and that would suck!" We would've missed out on a lot of CM Punk greatness if he took that defeatist route. I don't get how people don't get when celebrities get sick of the fame, of never having a moment to yourself if you're not confined in your own house.

Yeah, if you've ever had someone knock at your door asking for someone else and refusing to leave, or unrelenting people stuffing things for an old resident through your letterbox after then you know it's infuriating and/or concerning if those at the door don't let up. Seriously, I find it odd how people think anyone with an inch of fame or more are paid to tolerate their personal space/privacy being rucked over as they happen to entertain an audience when they portray a role on TV/on stage/in music etc. If they entertain fans then they owe them nothing else, their lives are separate from their performances. They're paid to perform, not to have people bothering them elsewhere.

Yeah, if you've ever had someone knock at your door asking for someone else and refusing to leaver, or unrelenting people stuffing things for an old resident through your letterbox after then you know it's infuriating and/or concerning if those at the door don't let up. Pretty much. If you're a wrestler, singer, or actor, and then I watch you wrestle, sing or act, that's the end of the transaction and what's 'owed' there. Certainly you'd hope that guys/ladies would go above and beyond and be cool to fans, giving autographs and having a sense of gratitude about the whole thing. Celebs who don't do that do deserve scorn. But fans who have this bizarre sense of entitlement (not saying anyone here, just generally) deserve scorn too.

Showing them some basic human respect? f*** that noise...
