Let me interrupt into this justice bruhaha and just say the lack of focus on the bouncy castle over the ball pit upsets me.
Bouncy Castle >>> Ball Pit.

The problem there is that that isn't third wave feminism at all. The term's been misused by the fedora crowd into being " those feminists who hate us nice guys!" when it's a very general term for feminist theory from the 90's on. The only real difference between third-wave and second-wave theory is that third wave is more aware of queer and non-white women. That's it. My mistake... I had misread some things and all that. TERFs are the transphobe feminists. rationalwiki.org/wiki/Trans-exclusionary_radical_feminismThat still doesn't explain the whole "misandry doesn't exist" myth. TERFs are TRAAASH and they exist on tumblr but so do neo nazis its not representative of the community at all. TERFs are pretty relentlessly mocked by all arms of the community except their own in my 1st hand experience. Regarding misandry I don't want to write another essay so I just googled "why misandry doesn't exist" and this is the first thing that popped up: factcheckme.wordpress.com/2009/08/30/no-such-thing-as-misandry/ From my skim it seemed to explain it very well. *shrug* As a man I really am not concerned with misandry. I assume if a woman has any sort of prejudice against men its based on some pretty legitimate experiences and I can't be oppressed on a systematic level by it.

Yeah, I once had to explain something similar to a student of mine who was convinced that Jay-Z was part of an anti-white people cult or something; anybody can have racist/sexist/whatever-ist thoughts, beliefs, or tendencies, but there's a clear difference between internal -isms and the external versions that can be acted upon and made to shape laws and societal/cultural practices. It's a dicey issue, and it doesn't excuse ignorant behavior or beliefs by anybody, but there's a marked difference when discussing -isms that can be turned into wider cultural practices.

I remember talking to my friend about this like three months before it happened. His girlfriend is really into Tumblr, so she tried to get him to go with her. I kept telling him it was gonna be awesome in a train wreck sort of way, and it would be fun to laugh at the chaos. He didn't think it was worth 45 dollars, so he didnt go. Talked to him the other day. He knew a lot of people who went (there were so little people there that he actually knew the majority of them, including his (now ex) girlfriend.), and all of them have had their Tumblr faith shaken. I was chiding him for not going. I'd totally pay 45 dollars to experience this first hand and screw with everyone there.
