Reigns better be ready before they send him up to bat, because if he's going against Brock at Mania, he better hit a home run. The fans do not want another Cena and they're very focal about that. They're already messing with his momentum by going out of their way to not cover up his weaknesses, so come Mania, if he hasn't improved enough, they'll rip him apart.

I understand getting dead-set on a guy when he's got all the skills to be the top guy right now, but Reigns doesn't. He still can't carry his own in a singles match for god's sake. Let me repeat - he still can't properly work a singles match. I'm not saying he doesn't have potential, but holy shit is there no way he'll be good enough to be champion by WrestleMania. Don't get me wrong, I like Reigns. I think he's got all the potential to be good eventually, but damn it, they refuse to have any patience. They're just going to keep passing over guys who are ready now because they're determined to replace Cena with this guy ASAP.

Ultimately, all that matters is who's the most over.
If that's Roman, great. If it's Bryan, Ambrose, whoever, great; call an audible and give them that spot.
Literally everything else is subjective on whether you like someone or not. If a dude is the most over when the time comes, they're ready.

I for one thought he and Orton had a good match at SummerSlam. Hell even Meltzer gave their match a higher rating than he did the Ambrose/Rollins match and only 1/4 of a star behind the main event. Seriously everyone's just overexaggerating everything about Reigns still and it's getting aggravating. I await a couple months from now when we get threads like "Roman Reigns shouldn't main event because he wears pants"

Damn, I’ve never seen so many people turn on a guy so quick like has happened with Roman Reigns in the past couple of months.
Personally, I’m indifferent to him. He’s certainly fairly limited as a performer but he’s over and he’s as good a choice as anyone right now to be built up strongly over the next year or so.

They're doing one thing with Roman that they never did with Cena, and that's building him up. They're showing that he can hang with main eventers now, instead of trying to show he could after he won it and overcompensating with it.
Also, Orton/Reigns was by far my favorite match on SummerSlam, so if he keeps working as hard as he did there, he will have a bright future.

That all make sense to me. It would have been stupid for Cena to have jobbed to Jibble at like No Mercy 2004 as a way to set up the mania match. They tried the reverse with Orton in 2004 by giving him the title earlier and still set up Orton/Haitch at WM 21.

Yeah, he's limited. So much, in fact, that I think he's gonna fall flat on his ass sooner than later and not have this Wrestlemania spot. You know what would really get him over? Instead of ascending and crushing established acts, being boring and repetetive, give him a lengthy feud with someone who is equally as hungry and could bring the best out of him so he's forced to bring his A game. Re-elevate Ryback and let them have a bloodfeud, this fall. It just dawned on me how much that feud could kick so much ass. Stop strapping the rocket to untested guys, put them together and they'll both become better, for it.

Really hoping Reigns fails a few drug tests between now and 'Mania. That's seemingly the only way to avoid the inevitable crowning of the chosen one. Nice talk.

Superface of the WWE Roman Reigns yelling at people for looking at him outdoors and insulting people on twitter should work out great.
Unrelated to the above, I can see the crowds starting to turn on Reigns by years end, long before mania. It won't help his cause that this will likely be around when Bryan comes back too.

I think a Reigns/Lesnar match would suck badly. Can't see their styles having chemistry. Lesnar beats the crap out of him for 15 minutes, superman punch, spear, 1-2-3, meh.

As long as he feuds with Kane after WM, I am fine with this.

The lesson that WWE needs to learn is it is so much more productive to just show Reigns being cool and bad-ass, as opposed to the announcers and narrative constantly screaming to and brainwashing people that he is. (normal) People inherently hate being told what to do, what to like, or being manipulated. If something is awesome, it's awesome. They decide. They choose to identify. They don't need hard-sell convincing. If you have to openly fellate something and compensate, then there is flaws in it. People know when something is real, and when it is forced.
That's why people prefer underdogs. They connect with them on a human, unconscious level, and relate to a plight of having a tougher road to travel. Only children or the severely emotionally stunted find complete alpha-male archetypes appealing. A quiet hero who just kicks ass CAN get over. But you add too much more to that soup and people stop liking the flavor.

If things continue as they are currently, Roman's "Wrestlemania Moment" will consist of him posing on each turnbuckle amidst a flurry of confetti .... as the fans boo the shit out of him and chant for Ambrose.

I think I am mainly annoyed with the feeling of inevitability. I want wrestling to surprise me. I want to not know what is coming next. I feel like this is so easy to telegraph. We all feel it coming. It seems automatic. I just want to feel like there are multiple guys who could dethrone Lesnar and that just does not feel the case. Of course things could change, but I just want this to not already be set in stone by WWE.

My goodness, the negativity is getting stronger.
To be the optimist here, I still think Reigns is a work in progress. He'll improve, it's not like his talent level currently is what will be set in stone.
