See, things like this piss me off. I still remember when this kind of thing was said after Hogan returned. The difference between WWE and TNA is, in TNA they were all over the show. And most the time they were winning feuds against younger stars or taking up WAY too much TV time (Hogan). Whereas WWE treats these guys like they are, old and retired. You not going to see any of them winning any titles, the only one who will have a match is Sting out of the 4 of them. Hogan's used sporadically for promos', Flair been there four times in the last two years, Foley's hardly there at all. WWE uses these guys for important moments and promotion, whereas TNA used them to get ratings and attendance because none of their own guys can draw. HUGE difference. "WWE treats these guys like they are, old and retired." Sting interfered in the main event of a Pay-Per-View and had a direct affect on the outcome. That's not treating him as old and retired. Again, I'm a Sting fan, but the guy will be 56. Except for special exhibition matches here and there, his career by all rights should be over. He shouldn't have anything to do physically with the main story of the company and definitely not the outcome of PPV main events. I don't necessarily agree with the image, but WWE absolutely went with Sting over a different roster member. Someone active could have easily gotten that spot. Hell, the newz are reporting that Orton was actually there dressed and was stood down so it could be Sting. Color it however you will, this is WWE using a guy in his mid 50s during the main event while Cesaro lost on the pre-show. I'm all for Sting hype, but this isn't feelgood nostalgia, they're relying on him over another roster member to draw. The guy who was Ryback's age when Paige was born. The guy who's a decade older than Triple H. The same people who complain about Cena and Orton being on top forever and about WWE having to rely on part-timers and returning older stars like Lesnar, Batista and Rock because they're not making enough new stars seem to be perfectly fine with them going back even further for Sting. This was his WWE debut after 3 decades. His career isn't going to be over yet because (unlike Flair, Foley and Hogan) Sting can still go somewhat (he has no significant injuries) and he's never had a match in WWE. In that case, it makes all the sense in the world for Sting to finally have a match in WWE after 3 decades. When you have such a history and mystic around you like Sting, age doesn't play a factor. Especially the fact that his first match in WWE will probably be again a guy who can still go in Triple H. Do you really think anybody at the show was mad that Sting came out instead of Orton? Do you really think anyone of the WWE Newtork was angry that Cesaro lost earlier, that they were mad at Sting's debut? Sure, someone active easily could have got that spot, but using someone like Sting makes it all most special and memorable. If it was Orton, yeah cool it plays into the storyline. Or: "Motherf***in' Sting debuted at Survivor Series! Holy shit!" Their not relying on him for anything, their allowing him to be relevant again. WWE aren't bringing him back to draw a big crowd, especially when they still have guys like Cena, Lesnar, Orton, maybe Bryan, Triple H, and many more. He's not going to be in a title match, he's not going to be in the main event. WWE are going to treat him like a special attraction, a legend, but aren't going to go all out to make him their main draw (like The Rock or Lesnar).

It absolutely DOES make sense for Sting to have a match in WWE. I'm not disputing that. I'm just adverse to him getting physically involved in the main storyline, nostalgia moment or not. Of course people would rather have seen Sting involved in the main event than anyone on the active roster, but my point is that it isn't "Best for Business". At least not long term. I've been thinking about it and I would have been just as ecstatic to see Sting appear and have his showdown with Triple H, even get physical with him, but the line for me was crossed as soon as they made it Sting who put Dolph on top of Seth. That's taking it from "Sting vs HHH in an exhibition match at WM!" into "A 55 year old man who the WWE hasn't acknowledged as being an active wrestler for the past 14 years has just physically interjected himself into the main storyline!". I know it's probably just me being pedantic, but that's how I feel. I'm all for him having one or two semi-main exhibition matches (and seeing what happens from there), but when he's presented as being the most important piece of the main event of a big 4 pay-per-view I think there's a problem with the booking.

My only issue with Sting's debut is that (I thought) it overshadowed Ziggler's amazing showing. Seems that just about everyone and their mother is still pumped about how awesome Ziggler looked, so... Woo! Sting! I think Cena coming out at the end is what really overshadowed Ziggler's performance. Nope. It was the top star congratualating Ziggler for doing so well and keepping all their jobs

I sincerely don't understand how Cena congratulating Ziggler for saving their collective asses is somehow "overshadowing" Ziggler's moment. People aren't just going to forget Ziggler ending The Authority by eliminating three guys in a row from 3-1 down to win at Survivor Series because John Cena's standing there. Just like they didn't forget about Sting and popped massively for him despite being in comparative anonymity since WCW closed nearly 14 years ago ("Nobody's going to know who he is", my ass). You know, I always kind of understood why people disliked Cena. It's almost always been for reasonable things like his booking or his character quirks. Lately though, some are just turning it into a damn witch hunt and looking to blame him for anything and everything. The man can't even exist without offending someone.

I partly saw it as Dolph was still barely able to stand at that point. He was selling all the damage that he'd taken in that match (which was probably about as much as everyone else took combined). Cena was coming out to congratulate him and help him to the back.
