I live in the city of St. Louis and I hope it does not spread to where I live. There's not much going on here where I am (I live closer to Downtown STL), but yeah, speaking as someone who grew up in the county, this is quite unsettling.

I love that twitter is filled with people posting pics of cop cars on fire and vehicles smashed...but from sports related riots just to illustrate how the media can spin some things like Ferguson to make for a better story. Also no one tear gasses a Superbowl riot, but protestors? f*** em.

This is all just impossibly sad.
The injustice is staggering, but what's really sad is that this is the expected result. This isn't a surprise. Not for a second did I think Wilson would be tried.

As someone said, any sniff of violence sells ad dollars and draws viewers, once you get an occupying military force the police involved with crowds of mostly black people, it's hardly ever going to turn out well just because the police are actually known to escalate shit.
With black people at the other end it works even better because...violence acted upon us can always be justified.
All the unglamorous groundwork of community organizing will never get play, especially when you can portray poor black people as violent and easily distracted.
Watching media coverage, you'd think there were many thousands of people setting fires everywhere. It doesn't take many people to set a fire, you know?

I wouldn't say F protesters. People have every right to protest. Its the rioters who are the problem. Sadly the rioters make it virtually impossible for those people who are only trying to exercise their right to free speech. Rioters are scum, and have no interest other than to profit off of other peoples grief.

Had to nip over to BBC News to read up on this.
Um well....yeah. Mob rule is never good. I can't say anything else as we don't have guns over here, this is completely foreign to me.

I live in St. Louis, and grew up in Florissant, a sister city of Ferguson. So, this hits close to home.
My parents and grandmother still live in Florissant, but it's quiet there.

But why? Until the evidence comes out, how do you know that any injustice has been committed? Hold on for a few weeks. We'll know for sure whether the grand jury was right, or if they were wrong and this really is an injustice.

This was the absolute correct decision. I agree 100% and it boggles my mind that people are in denial over the scientific evidence that was presented. This 'kid' Michael Brown was nothing more than a thug who assaulted a convenience store clerk, tried to commit a robbery and ultimately got what came to him by trying to assault a cop. Way to go Ferguson...I"m sure the correct way to seek justice is by looting everything in sight. The guy is more than his transgressions. He tried to steal some cigaretes, he assaulted someone. He should be arrested for that. But he shouldn't get shot if he doesn't thave a weapon. If guys want to be cops or neighborhood watch or anything else where the greater good is in their hands, they should learn how to FIGHT, so they can defend themselves without fatal force. "Oh shit this dude punched me BETTER SHOOT HIM" isn't okay for an officer of the law. And as for "everyone" looting. No. Some people are looting. People close to the situation are publicly speaking out against rioting and looting, and there are people who are merely protesting.

Sounds like a miscarriage of justice, but the rioting and looting is such a disgusting human trait. I really don't see how somebodies response to this would be "I'm outraged by the outcome, now lets go smash up a shop and steal a 42' High Definition TV"

You have people outraged by the verdict and then different people who just see opportunity to loot. They're IRL trolls.

BTW, I just had to move a massive chunk of posts. You can talk about the facts and the evidence, but let's avoid comments that:
- encourage violence, either legitimately or jokingly - go after either Brown, Wilson or their families, which is not the same thing as discussing hard information (not opinions, not hearsay- THE KNOWN FACTS) of the case.
Carry on folks.

f***ed up situation all around. I respect the hell out of cops because their job is so damn hard, but man I can't sympathize with shooting an unarmed man.
Shit is bout to go down and it's a goddamn failure of whomever decided to break the news at night. During the day would have made more sense as most people would be working.
Let's just hope nobody else loses their life over this tonight.

The only time looting is ok is if you're in a disaster area and you're trying to survive. People using cases like this or natural disasters to loot and profit from it are filth. That and who the hell thinks, "This is bullshit! f*** you Little Caesars!" I mean, what the hell? IA that the PD's favorite lunch spot?

Quick question: Did anything come from the Brown Family's testimony on Policing reform in Geneva?
Was there any recommendations that came from that UN committee? I ask because I'm not seeing it anywhere.

I'd bet that the word came out earlier and it was decided to release the statement after adequate precautions were made.

You also break news late when you know it isn't good. Some people, like the family, alledgedly knew the result since noon, but no. You don't report "good" news in the middle of the night.
But okay, so now this has gone down. How long until we go through this whole song and dance again? Excluding all the people who were killed in eerily similar circumstances while this decision was going on, I mean.

I understand the anger but It's sad that some people hijack a guys death as an opportunity to upgrade their personal possessions.
