I just it's sad he has to pander to the crowd like every other generic face when he could just do his own thing.

I do. WWE's plans for him aren't his fault

I do. WWE's plans for him aren't his fault I still blame him a little. Like why isn't Reigns stepping up to get better? Why isn't he expanding his moveset. I don't think I've even seen him do so much as pad his matches out with basic moves like a bodyslam or a suplex. Look at John Cena and how he rose to the occasion. Cena adds more things to his repertoire even when he doesn't have to because he's already "made". Reigns needs to make more of a concentrated effort to "silence the haters" the way that Cena does.

I think he's attempting to step it up but failing at it. I don't know but some guys just don't "click" until later on. Mark Henry's the perfect example. Just because many other guys rose to the occasion during a particular time period doesn't mean everyone can. They're screwing up by assuming Reigns can get ready when they want him to rather than letting him get ready on his own terms. Reigns really needs to figure out exactly what isn't working for him and what is working and just try to study it until he gets it. Unfortunately that isn't going to work in 4 months. That's too little time. Personally I think Reigns is going to have to get another year under his belt doing what he's doing until he's comfortable enough to find himself. Rather than just having him in main angles to potentially set up a rise to the occasion, just have the guy wrestling to build himself up naturally. He'll be more creative, figure things out, I don't know but give him another year. He has to improve waaaaaaayyyyyy too much in 4 months IMO.

Yeah, I was thinking he could maybe be ready by SummerSlam but... That match on Raw has me doubting it. Him losing three months worth of time to improve hurts him anyway to be sure and probably has him having to work to catch up to where he was but still, he seemed so lost even against someone he should have great chemistry with who's absolutely able to carry people, and was blowing some really basic stuff. Like that spot where he somehow managed to completely screw up pulling Seth's hair.

Yes. He should have been the one to win the belt at MITB and drop it to Lesnar rather than Cena. Now its too late.

I feel bad for the guy because while he is being pushed, he is being forced on to the crowd, which really doesnt need to happen considering how massively over he was as part of the Shield. As over as the group was, he was pretty universally loved.

Hey, I hear a lot about how nobody likes Reigns being driven down our throats.
Can somebody please tell me the difference between WWE driving Reigns down our throats and WWE driving Seth Rollins down our throats?
By my count in 2014, WWE drove Rollins down our throats about 100 times more than anyone else on the entire roster. Funny how nobody is complaining about that.

As a heel, the commentators aren't being excessive in hyping his abilities, nor is he being blatantly made to look physically superior to almost everyone else. He even has competitive matches with guys way down the card like Swagger and Big E.

I'm still a fan of Roman Reigns and I'd like to imagine that he isn't bothered too much by what people on the Internet say about him. He probably doesn't pay too much attention to the comments. He just goes online for the short films.

The way I see it, they won't lose anything by giving Reigns another year to improve and having him win the 2016 Rumble. They could actually have plenty to lose by having him win it this year

Rollins is way better in the ring and on the mic than Reigns is, and they haven't really had a choice because for most of the year Rollins has been the only credible heel on the roster. Not been particularly fond of that either way, and I don't think Rollins has been all that over since the Ambrose feud ended, but it's more understandable because he has much less competition than Reigns does and is more qualified for the role.

Reigns is not a face.
I mean he should be a face, but the guy himself, Joe. He is not good at being a face.

I feel sorry for all the detractors who are going to be very upset when he gets cheered at the rumble and mania.
Yes he needs to improve but in ring he's not too far away from Rock circa 1998, Nash circa 1995 or Warrior back in the day....mic skills are a problem but Bret, Brock, Jeff Hardy and others have overcome this through either practice, a manager, charisma and more....

I have an ABC attitude (Anybody But Cena), so I have no problem with him being pushed to the top now.

I do. It's not his fault that the WWE want to control the main event roster and fill it with guys they've hand picked for stardom from day one rather than with people who've developed a genuine connection with the paying audience. They would rather have another Orton/Sheamus that main events constantly without ever being a genuine draw than another Austin, Rock or even a CM Punk, guys who actually do make money but will walk out if they feel they're being mistreated.
Sheamus is charismatic and gifted enough to be far more popular than he is, Del Rio too, they pushed both of them too far too soon so they never built a real connection with the audience and it's hard to really recover from that and I fear Reigns may be heading down the same path. It's a lot harder for the audience to get into a young guy's struggle to win the title if they're already a multiple time former WWE champion, especially if they weren't really behind them on the way to those reigns.

I feel bad for Reigns because he's over and popular, yet people are trying their hardest to delegitimize the guy and what he's accomplished because they don't want him "stealing" the spot of one of their golden boys He's over and popular because WWE want him to be over and popular. Why can't the machine put all that hype behind guys who already have everything put together or have actually worked to improve?Bryan, Ziggler, Ryback, and Ambrose say hi. The problem is that once it became quite obvious that WWE was going to give him a serious push and news of him possibly winning the world title at Wrestlemania leaked onto the Internets, the mood of the Net changed about him. People are assuming that Roman is winning the Rumble and/or winning the WWE world title at Wrestlemania from Brock. Nothing is written in stone. And even if he wins the big one, nothing says he remains there. The Miz went from being in the main event as world champion the previous year to not even on the card. Sheamus is upper midcarder especially with them only having one world title. But I'm quite sure the moment he does the eventual slide down the card while improving, folks will come back to his side.

I think what hurt Sheamus wasn't so much that he was "pushed down our throats" as it was giving him a goofy character that seemed like a bad John Cena impression. We already have a John Cena, we don't need the less funny Irish model.
Back to topic, I don't know Reigns personally, but hopefully he doesn't spend too much time worrying about what is said about him on the internet. The smart fans are always going to criticize the guy in the spotlight, and right now it's him. I'd be more worried about selling him to the casuals. He's over, but he's not "Wrestlemania Main Eventer" over.
It will be interesting to see what the internet reaction would be if he ends up losing the Rumble. Is the "hate" more directed at him or is he only getting hate because he's getting a spot we'd rather see someone else get?

This just made me think of Ezekiel's "Bodyslam Rampage" spot and how it absolutely failed to get over (which I thought was a shame). Even so, I'd keep that move far away from Roman. I do think he needs to add about 3 more moves at bare minimum into every basic match that isn't a 2 minute squash, and those would be a vertical suplex (which is the one move that should be in every single wrestler's moveset, no matter what kind of wrestler they are), Nash/Kane-style Side Buster, and then some sort of ground hold. I'm sure he'd be capable of that, but WWE already has him locked onto the "WWE Main Eventer 4 Moves of Doom" track and will tell him not to change a thing.
