Makes you respect the sport a lot more knowing that a simple move can end someones life. Makes me wonder sometimes if the "sport" is worth it....

Just saw a video and Mysterio totally rotates when head scissoring him out the ring. You never see people rotate that much in a headscissosrs. I fear that is what caused the major damage and the routine stuff after it added to that.
RIP. Horrible situation for all involved.

He looks okay until the dropkick, if I had to guess he hit his head/neck on the apron on the huracanrana(which looked to me like he was supposed to land in the 619 position off of that hence why he got back in the ring so quickly) and then landed awkwardly on the ropes after the dropkick. He was clearly out once on the ropes.
As has already been said it may not have mattered but the ringside doctors needed to be on him as soon as Manik noticed that he was out. Time is critical in those situations.

I won't lie This shit makes me nervous as hell to get In the ring again Yep. It can happen on the most basic of bumps. Take a back bump, don't tuck your head, land just wrong and bam, done.

There's a fan-cam out there of what happened and I think Aguayo was in trouble from the missle dropkick on. I can understand the match continuing since it looks like a really good sell. When Manik/Suicide lands on the ropes next to him he looks to Aguayo, then Rey goes clear over Aguayo's head and he didn't move. I think that's when the other wrestlers realized something was up.
Scary as hell, regardless. RIP. No one to blame here.

It seems like the wrestling mentality of "I have to finish the match" may be the cause.
In no other sport are you expected to finish the game with such sever injuries.
Yes, Triple H is tough for finishing match with a torn ACL, but he took a minor tear, to a complete tear by finishing it.
Greater standards have to be made. Head and spine injuries have to be reason to stop a match immediately. The business is not worth losing your life over

man, that is truly one of the most shocking things i have ever seen in the ring. totally on the side that no one is to blame here and that it was just a terrible accident - I know there have been reports that the doctors were attending to people backstage which is why it took so long for someone to get down to ringside, but holy hell - you can tell instantly that the dude was in big, big trouble. Not saying that quicker attention would have saved him but man it is so horrible to see the match continue when he was so clearly in big difficulties. terrible, terrible incident all round.

Supposedly the local prosecutor's office has opened a manslaughter investigation, but honestly, what are they going to find?

RIP 35 is way too young to die. This is just awful, but what I hate is how I found out. Coworker told me to look on the Internet because Rey Mysterio killed a guy in the ring last night. NOT what happened, this was a total freak accident and I'm sure Rey will be having a hard time dealing as it is. He needs support, not condemnation. Which makes me angry because you know some assholes are going to call him a murderer for this. I already saw at last one dirt sheet with the headline "Rey Mysterio kills a wrestler with the 619" which is incorrect on every f***ing level.

I heard about this just before I went to bed last night. Stayed up for a little while longer, but didn't get the full story. It's terrible, I feel bad for all involved. What a tragic accident. RIP.

Seriously- why are some of you watching the footage and then speculating about the point at which he died or the fatal injury occurred? Grow up and have a bit of respect......

Maybe because not everyone responds to death/tragedy the same way that you do. Grief is a complex thing. This isn't an issue of "growing up"

Damn. That's awful. As everyone else has said, that's a spot Rey has done lord knows how many times over the course of his career since he debuted in WWE and it ends like that this time around? I can't even imagine what Perro's family, Rey, Manik, and Tigre Uno are going through right now.
I'm not sure how any of these guys can ever step into the ring again after watching a friend die like that.
