So the women get this kind of crap, yet most of us have seen the male WWE champion's penis and he gets no chants. That seems fair. No chants but lots of "hehehe, he has a small dick".

WWE have contributed to this sort of sexism by consistently booking the Bellas to be portrayed as slags.
During the guest host days, barely a week went by where the Bellas weren't offering themselves to them.

I've seen posts sexualizing Cena etc, we just had a who's the hottest of the Shield topic, I've actually never seen sexualizing the male talent get criticized on here. I can see what you're saying, it could seem lighthearted or not respectful if we're having a serious discussion about mat work. But when is the Nikki Bella character not kind of cheesy and sexy? She seems like a villain in a Cinemax original. I mean, I'm just guessing, but I think if there was a random post about Primo's ass in every Raw topic it would actually fly by unnoticed, or at least unprotested. I think sexualizing the guys and girls is fine but when sexualizing is all that happens, it becomes an issue. You can compliment Nikki while still saying she's one of the most improved, confident, heels on the roster. And I don't like Nikki but she's doing great right now. Basically this. Pro wrestling is a sport where attractive men and women get in their underwear and pretend to fight other people in their underwear for money until one of them gets on top of the other or makes them submit to them. There is ALWAYS going to be a sexual aspect to the sport- so a little of it will come to play. Just...for the love of god, don't pull shit like openly shaming people for who they're sleeping with, okay?

BikerTaker needs to show up like Ron Simmons or failing that the "Toasty!" guy from Mortal Kombat and say "Keep chanting if you sleep with your sister" when a moronic chant happens.

I think it's a dangerous precedent when you start moralising about what people should and shouldn't find funny. It would be hypocritical of me to criticise these sort of chants because I'm guilty of laughing at dubious things in the past and will continue to do so. I think humour is fundamentally a very subjective thing and we all have our own personal limits and no-go areas. Probably best to keep it like that rather than dictate what we are and aren't allowed to joke about. ***Wow, I think that is the most serious I've ever been on this forum. I apologise profusely, it wont happen again! Yes, but it's also important to foster discussions on humor, critique the roots of its source, and shed light on all its societal implications. I'm not so sure anyone here is trying to dictate as you say, but more revealing what a chant says about the current state of the wrestling fan nebulous and how those chants reflect harmful societal attitudes still prevalent in a 2015 world. Also, to piggyback on the recent talks of sexualization, I think it's fine to acknowledge the attractiveness of a performer, but it's not cool when that acknowledgement is used as a way to marginalize the talents of a performer into nothingness, which is why I take issue with a thread about, say, Nikki Bella's improvement as a performer suddenly marred by comments about her breasts. Not only is it annoying, but it also doesn't further the main discussion at all.

I don't, they're rich as hell off their own work, and are in a relationship with two other guys who are also rich as hell
I wouldn't feel horrible if I had Nikki Bella's booty

Not only is it annoying, but it also doesn't further the main discussion at all. You're choosing one very specific example to make your point though. It's not like every time somebody mentions Nikki's boobs it was in the midst of a discussion on how she's improved in the ring. And what topic doesn't have random jokes and non-sequiturs. And talk about editorializing. "Marred" by comments about breasts. It seems you're bringing some inherent negativity to it? Not to mention the specific person we're discussing is good humored about it and actually brings up their own boobs constantly. If it's not serious to them, why is it so serious to you in regards to them? Random example, Ziggler has mentioned his abs before. Should we treat his abs with the solemn seriousness that Nikki's boobs require?

The crowd stated fact though. That's what doesn't make sense to me. They DO the acts chanted - by choice. Is it meant to be an insult to a man/woman if you randomly say "I bet you pleasure your partner on a regular basis, doncha?"
I'd be like "Yeah, say it louder please, I'm a f***ing stud".

but my God, some of the hyperbole in here. Anyone would think the crowd had started chanting for Hitler. Agreed, there are a lot of white knights in this thread.

For me its because the "sma" wrestling fans were supposedly the ones supporting the #givedivasachance and complaining about how WWE doesn't respect divas ans only sees them as objects and how the WWE should book the women more like Shimmer. Last night's crowd was supposed to be a crowd entirely made up of "smart" fans and those fans went against everything that "smart" fans were supposedly fighting for. The Divas had a very good match that was given pretty good time. The Bellas have obviously worked their butts off to improve and instead of supporting what was a good divas match between a group of women who all work quite hard the crowd rewarded their efforts with some very offensive and demeaning chants. You're right, and that's exactly why I question sincerity when it comes to topics like this. I bet a lot of people in attendance last night were tweeting about gender inequality in the WWE, yet still chanted along. Fake outrage does exist. I know some probably hate that term, but until words turn into action, it's hard to look at stuff like this without rolling your eyes, especially with wrestling fans. If Rock gave Stephanie a Rock Bottom at WM, the place would have erupted, yet those same people will go on message boards or Twitter and say how wrong it is to simulate male on female violence. There is no consistency. I agree with said post above. I am a long time wrestling fan, and this is my first post. I have long enjoyed reading the threads and comments here, but this thread is what made me decide to join. I too question sincerity with threads like this, because if you look further down the page, there is a thread dedicated to the divas with the new rules in the first post, and then later see tons of comments objectifying them. If I should recall, on a recent Natalya picture, someone said that their "bunk" was calling them. Ew. Seriously, no one cares if your bunk is calling you, its gross. And the fact that there had to be new rules TELLING people to stop objectifying them and being gross about it is sad. Now don't get me wrong, I like the picture threads, because I LOVE beautiful women, and I admire the hard work they put into their bodies, and I love that even if they aren't the best at their craft, they at least try. BUT there is a huge difference between admiration and objectification. You can't have it both ways. You can't pretend to be upset about vile comments shouted at the divas, and worry that it makes wrestling fans look bad, then make gross comments in the picture threads. If you want them to get respect, then give it to them. It goes for the men too. Respect should be given to them all. Disagree if you like, that's just my opinion as a long time wrestling fan.

It's one of those things, like gushing about Nikki's boobs in a thread discussing her ring work, that I wish wasn't done. How many topics can we cram into here? Her entrance and style is often intentionally sexual, she actually points at her boobs and even mentions them in promos. Her arrogant sexy badgirl character is more than half of her schtick, even though I do think she's doing pretty good in the ring lately too. But it's never really off topic to mention Nikki's boobs. Hell, her finisher involves a torture rack setup (just so people Can say "nice rack") and is called the Rack Attack.

Always calling it "objectifying" is a cute way of putting a negative spin on one of the most healthy and natural parts of existence. How dare people make lighthearted comments about sexuality, your views on it seem a bit judgmental. For the record I've never made a "bunk" comment, but have you even seen FireFly? It's a reference to a funny line said by Adam Baldwin and clearly his charm is lost on you. Your first post is made just to express your displeasure on what other people find fun to talk about, and in particular a topic aimed specifically at pics of divas. Why is it that negativity is generally what gets people to post online?

Said it in another thread but I'll say it again here, dislike it all you want (I do) but don't be offended on behalf of someone who might not actually be offended themselves over it.
There's a line here between disliking the chant for being derogatory as opposed to being offended *for* the ladies in the match who for all we know didn't even mind it.
The ladder makes all arguments against the chanting just look silly.

I am not trying to sound judgmental, I'm the first to own that I like Nikki Bella's behind, but I'm also not telling people that I'm gonna go masterbate to it, then pretend to be upset that someone made a chant that might be offensive to her. I laugh a lot at the things you guys say, but I also know how to control my behavior online. You know what I mean? If you want to go to your bunk, fine, but we don't need to know it lol. If people are sincere about thier concern of how wrestling fans are perceived, then maybe try to change that a little. Besides, I as a female was not offended at what was said to them.... If i was any one of the girls I would of responded back to the crowd saying "So what? Don't be jealous!" But that's just me. Lol
