Anyone know what the plan is with the series? Like is it just one season about the outbreak or is the plan for it to keep going like the original series?

Just basically a spinoff of TWD with another cast, starting around the time of the origin point of the zombie outbreak. If it lasts after 2 seasons it might be possible to merge the two shows as they'd be able to catchup to the continuity of the original show.

That new Sean O'haire character looks very interesting. Still can't stand Nick but was glad to see him get his ass kicked in the last episode.

I'm watching this show out of habit more than anything. Here is why I am hating it more than loving it:
Everyone is so freaking keen on what's going on. There is no confusion. There is no severe panic of the unknown. This is a show about social justice more than anything else so far. No way this is the same universe as Walking Dead. Incongruent as all get out.
But yeah, back to that number one thing. They've figured out there they are "dead" after seeing just a couple of walkers. There are people in the REAL Walking Dead universe that are months upon months into the apocalypse that still don't know that fact.
The more I rant about it, the madder I get. So I'm sorry for being a complainer. There are little things that are engaging enough for short attention span, but it's only out of repetition that I'm watching.
I'm an episode behind so forgive me if I'm out of line. I'll catch up with the thread and read opinions when I get there. But after this many episodes so far, I just had to get that off my chest. More later I'm sure. EDIT: Also how freaking casual can you be about killing people (walkers) and seeing dead bodies?! Geez. These people!
There is no sense of genuine "wtf'ness" in any of these a-holes.

Ruben Blades acts like he knows EXACTLY what's going on. I wonder if he's going to tell some story about how a similar outbreak happened in El Salvador or something. Between him and the knife kid from the high school, its strange how some characters act like they've already seen every zombie movie and others act like zombie movies don't exist. I just now saw this after my recent post. I'm glad I'm not alone. This. This. This. It's p***** me off how "accidentally smart" everyone is.

I'm so hyped up for next week. I'm going to be out of town, so I hope whatever motel I stay at has AMC.
The way Ophelia screamed, I thought her dad had actually killed the soldier.

I loved the episode. I can't wait for season 2 already. I don't think everyone already knows what's going on, I think they're confused, and some don't trust the government, so they don't believe what they say. Its getting better by the week.

Decent episode.
Still a bit disappointed they're going the clichéd evil army route though. In the early parts of this episode I thought they were moving away from that, by showing that there actually is a hospital where the army are taking the ill and injured and that their past actions was more due to panicking, inept leadership and inexperience. Then they spring Cobalt on everyone and reset it back to evil army.
Still, there was a lot of positives. I like how everything is slowly falling apart and that the army doesn't have the control over the area that they first appeared to have. Quality series. I hope Chris dies soon though. He does my head in. He's such a loathsome little prick.

The show is good, but I feel like they've missed out on a TON of story they could have explored before moving to the season finale. I know it's only 6 episodes so that's bound to happen, but it really feels like they totally skipped over the fall of L.A. and civilization as a whole. I wish AMC would have given them the budget and leeway needed to really tell the story.
With that said, I think they're setting up the series finale to be a really great episode of the show. I just hope they learn from the mistakes of The Walking Dead - it feels like the last two or three episodes before a TWD series finale are really weak, then all of a sudden the season finale just does enough to keep you entertained.

Did they ever specify exactly where in LA this all takes place?
And just nitpicking, but I wish we would've had a small intro to the conman before suddenly meeting him behind the cage. Just have the camera focus on him for five seconds while the patients are being rounded up, and make sure he has a suspicious smirk

Well, we knew someone had to die, and she was the most expendable. Still, a sad death. That soldier running into the helicopter blade was brutal.
Not a bad episode, and not a bad first season. Time to see where we go from here.
