Late 2002 - Wrestlemania 21
That era of HHH was a chore

Was a huge fan of him early on. The moment I saw him in the WWF the first time as blue blood Hunter Hearst Hemsley, you could see he had "it" as far as working heel and being excellent in the ring.
I especially loved when he reached the Top in 1999 when he became Champ and a Top guy. Cause the WWF and Vince had never really trusted a monster heel as Champ before. And he kept getting dominant by the late 99.
But the things that happened in 2000, especially with the Kurt Angle feud started pissing me off. Also not so long after I started to get "smart" on the things of pro wrestling, learning about stuff on the net, so I knew what was going on behind the scene. Well some of the stuff.
Now I'm one of the few that actually liked the Evolution run? I'm a fan of strong heel groups so that was the attraction for me. But really from 2000 on, I started to really dislike the guy, turning into real hate around the Katy Vick thing.
Also I have to say that his DX run in 2006 was a pathetic display of an overbearing uncle who thought he was funny and cool. Who needs a PG DX.

2003.
There's no excuse for what happened to Booker T let alone everyone else. As a black boy, that crushed my dreams. I've seen racism since I was little so seeing something like that on television, in something I loved, was inexcusable.

I was done with him after he cut Booker T off at the knees in 2003. Booker was so freaking over, and was top babyface material. It was such an anti-climactic burial, that people have actually forgotten just how insanely over that Booker was at the time. WWE can be so frustrating with their "Oh Crap, we didn't plan for someone to get as over as they are, quick, kill their heat so that we don't have to change our plans!" stuff. That's definitely my number one issue with the company, and has been for ages. Why on earth would you squash someone's overness because it wasn't what you were planning? When someone gets that over, you capitalize on it. It's like they're sabotaging their own company's income.

Probably the worst thing to come from their desire to want TV people on the writing staff instead of Wrestling people.

Honestly 2008-2009 for me. I guess I have to vote for 2008 since it felt like one era and that was the start of it, but that was Triple H's most dominant vanity project run era. Like this is how every Smackdown in 2008 was:
*Smackdown opens with WWE Champion HHH cutting a 20 min promo*
HHH: I are Triple H and I am game, I am champion, and I am asskicker
*crowd pops but random heel comes in (MVP, Shelton Benjamin, TBK, etc)
Random Heel: HHH I respect you but I respectfully disagree you aren't game but I am
HHH: <buries heel by making gay jokes, reminding him he's jobber, insulting his mic or wrestling skills or any insult that is personal and smarky>
*Heel gets upset and sucker punches HHH but HHH fights back and clothesline him over the top rope* *The Game entrance theme blares out and HHH does his pose* *SD main event is revealed to be HHH vs Random Heel in a non title match* *LOL HHH WINS*
THAT WAS EVERY WEEK FOR MONTHS

I've never really hated him, but I will say the reason I got the Unforgiven 2003 DVD was because I knew he lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Goldberg.

I'll admit, I'm surprised there are people who voted for 98/99 HHH. Wasn't he pretty much an IWC darling pre-ME push? If "darling" was translated from the Latin for "slow, methodical 1980s style that no longer gets over", then that's what the newsletters thought. I will admit he gets kick-ass theme music. "My Time" is a favorite.

2004 for me just because it came after 2003. Sure he wasn't actually champ sometimes but "Permanent main event HHH" had gotten REALLY boring by now.

1998 after seeing him in the 'Hitman Hart:Wrestling With Shadows' doc. Watching Martha Hart verbally ream Hunter a new one is legitimately one of the most compelling exchanges ever recorded. Just...man, she flat-out emasculated him and told him she was doing it. Much respect to her. The Booker T. and Punk burials were unforgivable, as was the ridiculous notion he was Brock's equal (not in his wildest dreams). I'll only vote 2011 over 2003 with the caveat that he killed the direction of the company and Punk's push while still a part-time only performer.

Whenever I see people question how high up the list HHH is, career wise, it puzzles me.
Especially when people take offense to him being put at the level of Austin and Rock, because since I started watching almost 15 years ago, those three have been intertwined in my mind as the top guys.

I'm still sour grapes about his victory over Orton at Mania 25. The IWC was up in arms over his burials of Booker and Punk, but Trips buried Orton TWICE (2004, 2009) and still loves to make him look like a chump on occasion. Doesn't get brought up enough anymore. No matter what way they tried to justify it, no way Orton shouldn't have come out a winner instead of the lame finish we got the next month.

How can I hate someone I've never met? Hate is a very strong word, I don't even hate the people I feel have wronged me most in life. Hate will get you nowhere, hating someone you don't know based on what you hear from the rumour mill is even worse.
Unless your on about the character Triple H, in that case I hated him most around 2000 when he was doing the mcmahon helmsley facigme stuff.

I've actually always enjoyed Triple H, never hated him. That being said 03 was awful because of how he still had the belt despite being at an all time low work rate wise, though other than Booker he didn't have amazing workers with him in the ring. I remember really enjoying his early 06 where he feuded with Cena. That Triple Threat at Backlash 06 is one of my favorite underrated matches

Can honestly say that I have never liked HHH, not only in WWE, but also WCW. Always found his promos long and boring. All of his moveset basically contains moves from Harley Race and Ric Flair. Never found him amusing or all that interesting. He has a million nicknames and most of them are lame.
There is one thing he does that still makes no sense to me. HHH has a tendency to belittle his opponents on the mic and say they aren't in his league. Then when he fights, he beats the guy he belittled. What does that prove for HHH?

1999 was when my dislike of him interfered with my ability to enjoy pro wrestling.
