Chuck realized he had to stoop to Jimmy's level in order to catch him. It wasn't the most bombastic end to a season, but in terms of subtle character shifts it was actually kinduva big deal considering all of Chuck's grandstanding about the sanctity of the law and how he perceives himself as a "real lawyer" looking down on Jimmy's tricks. Thing is, it's not like this is actually a massive shift in character. Chuck has always thought of himself as this white night of honesty, but how many times has he snuck around behind Jimmy's back and even used his condition to guilt and hold Jimmy back. Hell the big revelation of last year was that he'd been doing that for yeeeeears.

I guess we're just actually seeing Chuck do it this time rather than it all happening off screen. Maybe that's why it feels even more underhanded. I dunno.

Think a good bit was when they showed when jimmy went to chucks for dinner with chuks wife chuck wish disgusted that jimmy was trying to make something of himself but chucks wife loved all Jimmy's jokes.

I'm not a lawyer, but I think Jimmy could easily argue his confession on tape was under false pretenses and not genuine. Chuck knows I bet and just wanted to know that he was right about Jimmy the whole time. I think Jimmy finds out in Season 3 that he faked the whole thing and he decides to break from being a McGill. Maybe. Reasonable assumption I think, but you never know. Gilligan, Gould and co. probably have something better in mind.

I'm saying he was always at Jimmy's level, it's just Jimmy is open about who he is but Chuck portrays himself as a hero.

Like when Gus' mask of sanity slipped ad you realised that he wasn't truly any better than the Salamancas
