Listen I with you guys. I'd much rather have Ambrose or whomever in the mania main event, but is that really Roman's fault? Like what went wrong this time? When he finally won the belt in December, we for the most part were content and glad for him. It has been overly obvious that he was main eventing mania, yet something happened from about the Rumble on that brought back the Reignshate in full force. The rise of Ambrose. Similar to how I believe that last years Roman hate was that he wasn't Daniel Bryan. So does the latest round of hate really fall on the booking and skill set of Roman or just that our preference of a main event isn't happening?

That's everybody's biggest fault.
Everybody but Matt LeBlanc.

It's a mix of...
1), There are people on the roster just plain more entertaining than he is.
2), He hasn't really done much of anything to warrant the push he's getting. He puts in effort to be sure, but so does everyone else on the roster - if anything more so given just how often, "Roman is sleeping!" is a thing - and he's blatantly only where he is because of who his family is and because of how pretty his hair is.
3), They're not playing to his strengths. People want him to be Goldberg effortlessly, silently crushing people and taking no one's shit, and they keep trying to write him as John Cena, a scrappy underdog who tells lame jokes and despite being an underdog never f***ing loses.

Regardless of who's fault it is the booking is shitty. That's all it is at the end of the day and most of it isn't even Roman's fault. Just because it's not his fault doesn't mean I'm going to be fully invested in everything he does because he's a guy just trying to get a paycheck. I'm going to hate bad booking no matter who's in the driver's seat.

He's Lex Luger.

He just doesn't appeal, his moveset is lame, his promos are lame, and outside of a few moments he does not get you invested into his character, what he is about and why you should in fact give a flying shit over other people on the roster
That is both his fault and bookings in a collective manner. Booking for not using the strengths he has and shoving him down peoples throats, and Roman for just not being THAT GUY that WWE is begging him to basically be and handling himself pretty shitty in some facets whether it be PR or definitely promos (And this dude apparently took Acting Classes while he was hurt. Get your money back dude) and NO ONE is having it...

I think there's a hodgepodge of things. I think fans are random at times, and the unanimous cheers he got earlier this year just might have happened anyways regardless of the booking. I think the Royal Rumble did the most damage to him because when he won the title I think people were ready for a babyface champion who can kick ass and stop getting mired in this Authority bullshit, but then that Royal Rumble put him right back to underdog status where no one believes it for a second. I think the idea that Ambrose is the hot ticket that's killing Reigns' push is wishful thinking, Ambrose is over and he's good but he doesn't have amazing momentum himself. He can win the title and everyone would probably be cool with it but I don't think it's like the majority are dying for that right now.

Sure, if he had the exact same amount of skill as he does but looked like Manu he wouldn't have the push he's getting, but if he wasn't related to the Rock they'd have been hesitant to ever let him in the ring as a solo guy again after that shitfest with Bray leading up to Mania 30.

He's a terrible copy of Cena's awkward humble corny Superman routine. He needs to be a bad ass. Period. Be it heel or face, that's what got him to the dance so to speak and now its just weird and off balance.

Instead of having the fans want to love him with a heel turn or a slower build the WWE wants the fans to love him. Its retarding his progress and I don't get it.

I'd say it's probably that the company doesn't really know what to do with him other than, "Well, make him the champ!"
He really doesn't have a character. They'll have him be the quiet asskicker for a moment, and the fans go, "Hey! We like this guy!" (See: TLC). Then, they have him cutting overly scripted, transparently fake, supposedly funny 15-minute promos the next night, while also having him in a match against someone like the Big Show, where Reigns is supposed to be the underdog and sells for the first ten minutes of the match (completely going against the "quiet asskicker" that people got behind). They are trying to throw all of their character ideas onto one guy, which then just makes him have no character. Compare that to Bryan last year, who people had a strong connection to due to his underdog character (and it being his return from a lengthy injury that caused some to think he would retire), and Ambrose this year, who has the never-say-die Foley-esque character. Reigns doesn't really have something to latch onto, because they keep changing what he is supposed to be.

I just think that in the last two years, Roman gains momentum with the fans, but someone who we prefer rises to prominence, Bryan last year, and Ambrose this year. WWE teases us, but sticks with Reigns, and once that happens all of his momentum transforms into Boo-city.

When he finally won the belt in December, we for the most part were content and glad for him. I don't remember this. I remember people were just kinda relieved that Sheamus was no longer champ. On here, anyway. Can't speak for any other boards.

On here, anyway. Can't speak for any other boards. people were marking for him going bad ass and he was receiving pops in both Philly and Brooklyn, the latter I was there for. And that may be to due to Sheamus and no one else really in the main event picture........Until Ambrose. I totally understand the booking argument, and has Reigns really reverted to his "Sufferin Succotash" persona?

I blame the booking 100%. They haven't booked him consistently since The Shield broke up. Until that fixes he will struggle.
I think he is perfectly fine skill wise, just need to have better booking.

There's a couple factors here. Booking is doing him no favours as others have mentioned. Strapping him with long promos clearly doesn't work yet WWE still insists on it because that's apparently how things have to work. 20 minute promos must open the show even though it'd be a lot more exciting (and a breath of fresh air) to open with a stellar match. There are more talented people around but I think part of it is, Reigns lost the belt in the rumble, then he had to fight a triple threat against two of the top guys in the business (one a legit beast) just to get a chance at his belt again. If he wins at mania that makes him a 3 time champ and I think people are wondering what the hell the point of the past two months was. Why not just keep the belt on him? Really though, they need to start playing to his strengths.

IMO Reigns' biggest fault is that no one knows who Roman Reigns is.
Seriously, what's his character? Samoan guy?

Huge punk fan here, but I partly blame him. That podcast where he repeated "ya gotta make Roman look strong" stuff killed him. That and terrible booking/writing.
