So here's my theory on Superman and why I honestly never have been a fan of his.
So he's strong as 10 men right? Why is he so muscular then? If he was so strong he would have to do some serious weight training in order to build bulk and definition. He should have the body of and average man who doesn't work out much if him preforming these feats of strength is equivalent to a human lifting a pad of paper. So His body is pure vanity. Then you have his alter ego Clark Kent. This is how superman hides his abilities in the normal world. It's his vision of what an average human being is. Wimpy, Nerdy, Clumsy and a Coward.
So basically I view Superman as a Vain, Egotistical Jerk. Sure he could have done evil with his abilities. But I feel the only reason he didn't is because of his upbringing with the wholesome and loving Kent's. Had he dropped onto the yard of some criminal family. He probably would have done Evil things.

Please tell me this is a joke thread. Have you read any Superman stories? He doesn't act egotistical at all, is this what you're seriously basing this on?

That whole "Clark is Superman's view of humanity" thing originated with Quinten Tarantino and it's completely off-base. The idea is that Clark be someone you could just never suspect is a hero. It's the same reason Bruce Wayne acts like a complete putz in public.
Superman to me is one of the most likeable heroes in all of fiction. You watch Christopher Reeve as the character and you wish he were real because the world needs someone like that. I find comic and movie fans who hate Superman to be overly cynical most of the time. Just my 2 cents.

I'm not a superman fan at all, but the same reason Batman wear's a batsuit is the reason why Supes probably keeps a cut bod.
Its a natural deterrent against aggression. If someone you didn't know came floating over looking all dumpy in an ill-fitting blue suit with his underwear on the outside, you be like, psh, YOU'RE a superhero?
But if Superman with John Cena body flys over, even the most hardened supervillain who is new to superman would be like, "DAAAAAAAAAAAAMN man! What is going on with your abs!? And those delts! I dunno if I wanna mess with this guy!"
So by virtue of just looking intimidating and strong, he can stop a lot of aggression before it even gets going. Its an image thing, man.
Unrelated, I too find him to be super uninteresting to read as a character. But I find that to be the case for the vast majority of Marvel & DC's properties.

I really dislike superman but not for these reasons i think Clark Kent is like that because it is the opposite of Superman What's there to even dislike?!? 100% Icon of goodness are boring for me depending how it is done(captain america for example, works very well for me,which is odd because i dislike patriotism and icons of moral ground, but now days they make it interesting) .But Superman can't make it work most of the time i tried to read it. I cant bring myself to believe he can be defeated because he IS the strongest being in the DC universe so it is just not fun,i never get any real sense of danger, his power are giant plot devices if needed.I also find boring the explanation for his powers, there is nothing really behind it that makes me like it,it is not interesting. Superman works much better in alternate universes "for the greater good" evil (for me) because he IS the ultimate thing to overcome in the whole DC Universe. For me Shazam is an example of a better written Superman(and the only moments i like superman is when he is facing Shazam, maybe i'm just a Shazam mark)

Clark Kent is a man who spends 95% of his life not showing off how truly spectacular he is. He allows himself to be humiliated and walked-on because it protects the people he cares about and lets him live in the world not as a god, but as an equal to every person around him. Because despite his powers, he truly believes he isn't any better than anyone else.
Egotistical because he's in good shape?
Thats not even starting in on the fact that his genetics do make him look like that. Retired Superman, when shown in the odd story here and there, is still jacked because of his birthright.

What's there to even dislike?!? I cant bring myself to believe he can be defeated because he IS the strongest being in the DC universe so it is just not fun, Inaccurate statement. Arguably not even the strongest being on earth, let alone the Universe as a whole. A wide array of mystical heroes are easily in the same class, as are any amount of random others like Martian Manhunter. Even Supergirl has been portrayed as being more physically powerful than Superman. Villains typically are always more powerful in some way, which is why heroes have to strive to defeat them. You can look over the roster of villains from any random JLA year and see people Superman doesn't beat on his own. As far as not believing Superman can lose, I don't know anyone who could look at all these characters that have had comic-books running for decades and think any of them is going to be losing most of the time.

Honestly one need only watch the Superman Animated Series and both Justice League shows to see how much deeper the character is beyond the "All Powerful Big Blue Boy Scout" perception. I'm gonna put this video in a tag because its a major spoiler but if you really want to see who Superman is, this might just sum him up best: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}

It is about suspension of disbeleif i guess,i can bring myself to believe something awful will happen to peter parker besides mind control. It just as Superman comes off when i read him, even if he is not the strongest,he is top there,or it changes from stories from stories, and it just put me off from him.He can easily just be an all-powerful being. Even so it isn't my only issue with him.

I'm just glad we no longer get the bimonthly "The Elite was right!" thread from that one guy any more. Plus, he's ripped, but the definitive version ain't THAT huge: Also, if you want a "scientific" explanation, his entire body is a living solar battery. He doesn't have to eat or sleep, so it's unlikely he has to work out. If anything, his Kryptonian physiology is such that it doesn't retain fat cells as such; and certainly not in the way that human beings do. To take that one step further, ANY drawing of any Kryptonian ever, even when they're on their unexploded homeworld, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone that's not in a shape that would look like a human being in peak physical condition. Even Jor El, who's a scientist trying to stave off planetary destruction was in really great shape; and he had no time for the gym. In short, Superman ain't human, so his physique doesn't conform to human rules. Bod by Krypton.

I dislike Superman because he has horrible taste in women. Seriously, Lois Lane??? I figure Lois is akin to a high school sweetheart -- your first taste of a crush/love, so no matter how bad of a fit they are for you, you can gloss over that.
