I'm excited to see "I was wrong about this match" at the appreciation thread of this match. There's not a lot of "this match is going to suck" going on in this thread.

This feud has no heat whatsoever. It's not a match that needs a cage, it's a cage that needs a match.

Because they have a list of "historical events" or "first times" and they are rushing through it.Just something to brag about. That's the impression I have. But on the card, it's the longest term feud, least one sided feud, and has the most amount of hatred between the two. Plus it's in Sashas hometown as a bonus so the crowd is probably going to care about this more than Reigns vs. Rusev or Owens vs. Rollins unless HHH makes a surprise cameo. Now the entirety of Rusev vs. Reigns including putting it in the HIAC is the definition of forced Yet neither of the two have ever even hinted at using a weapon on the other. Sasha literally just came out and said "#WomensRevolution, let's make history and have a cell match". It's so contrived and transparent. They could have even tried to pull it together a bit this week by having them be super physical with each other but instead they choose to have them in sit down interviews. Like...what?

Even those sit down interviews, though, had a lot of potential to illustrate why they want each other in a cell other than just to check a box in the history books. Say this has been brewing for years, Charlotte's bag of tricks won't work in a cell, Sasha can get just as nasty as Charlotte this time. The complete lack of effort in this regard is just so bad, and at this point if they try at the last minute next week to go "oh yeah but we also really hate each other" it won't be believable in the slightest, they had weeks at this point to establish hatred. This whole thing is superficial all around.

Yeah it is weird, these two have a feud worthy of this match in storyline but instead of letting that be the story, they've dropped that to focus on screaming "first". While I'm sure it will be a great match, I do think focusing more on "first" than their battles through NXT to WWE and everything since then has hurt the match some. In this instance, I'm totally fine with them screaming "first" because at least the match is happening. The feud, I will concede hasn't been that great. The Smackdown women are being handled better without coming off as "look at us, we've finally caught up with most of modern society!" I'll admit that. But again, the match is still happening. WWE is always going to pat itself on the back, it's just what they do. I'm just happy we're long past the Bra and Panties days.

This stuff really drives me crazy. You only have one chance to do this stuff for the first time and instead of engaging us with a compelling story it's just "look how progressive we're being." Sasha and Charlotte are great and deserve the spot, and it's not like this is a woman exclusive problem, all three of the HIAC matches are awfully put together, but man I wish they'd be more humble in their approach and just tell stories. It's very pat yourself on the backish to me too. "Man those skanky bitches from 2002 to 2013 sucked a bunch of dick because they just sucked and were hoes with no talent outta bikini mags BUT WE'RE WRESTLERS NOW cause the company's not sexist pieces of garbage in public." Like we get it, you're aping pop culture, I like Sasha but shut the f*** up about it.

So is Nia Jax going to do the Kane ripping the door off the cell spot?

They both deserve it.
And on a totally selfish note, I'm looking forward to seeing the first WWE PPV to be main evented by the Women's division live in the area.

This feud is designed to put over the company's use of women, not the women themselves.
That kind of defeats the purpose.

I'm happy for them but this feels like they just got the main event so they can say that women main evented a PPV. The story doesn't feel main event worthy.
To be fair though, nothing on HIAC feels like a main event. The Owens/Rollins story has been disappointing, while Reigns/Rusev has been trash.

I don't have a problem with this. The whole thing does feel a bit manufactured. But that can be said about almost everything on Raw. And it's as main event worthy as anything else on the card. The KO/Seth feud has been lackluster and Roman/Rusev has been flat out bad.

The entire build up for Rollins vs. Owens is "LOL JERICHO IZ PEDIGREED IN FRONTZ OF YOUUUUUUUU!" for the past month. The only Hell in a Cell match that used any weapons during the buildup and has the most amount of violence between two people is Reigns and Rusev. And it's literally the worst feud of the year.

I definitely see the argument about WWE patting themselves on the back and wanting to tell a corporate narrative more than wrestler's stories but I'm still excited for what I'm hopeful will be a great match and psyched for the success of the women involved.

Oh man they're gonna have a f***ing great match. Can't believe are still doubting Sasha & Charlotte in 2016..... SMH bros -.- Great matches aren't the problem in 2016, they're the norm Great stories are missing on RAW

I'm sure all this has been said but...the performers and feud deserve this chance. They shouldn't make that the focus on TV though. Them fighting off and on since NXT and they're "hatred" should propel them into wanting a cell match.
And these two have dynamite matches but I think they're gonna have at best the 2nd best cell match on the card.

I think fans, wrestlers and "suits" (Vince, HHH, bookers, agents) perceive Owens/Jericho as the main story/brewing feud

It's kind of like how TNA used to be, where the main storyline of the company was "boy, is TNA the shit now or what?" and talked more about getting TNA to the next level than anything else.
