Okay, just to be clear, I'm not talking about a dog spot or Arn Anderson's spot. Nor am I talking about YOUR spot.
I'm referring to in-ring moments that were supposed to seem like legitimate, competitive spots. But instead, they're over the top and clearly require effort from all competitors. Your average Canadian Destroyer falls into this category, as does the Davey Richards/Eddie Edwards suplex sequence. But what else comes to mind?
What is the spottiest spot that has ever spotted?

Generally, the Irish whip, but I found this particular example that makes the move look all-the-more unnecessary.

Jack Evans/Teddy Hart from Final Battle 2009 was one of the worst spotfest I've ever seen. It was five minutes of just them burning out the crowd, during a blizzard, right before the hour long plod of a main event that sent everyone home angry.

Honestly, there's actually a way to explain this spot and make it work. Instead of selling it as "Canadian Destroyer", you sell it as the other guy going for a Waterwheel Drop, and Virgil (somehow) using the momentum from the guy putting too much into it to counter it.

Seeing that I feel like I should say sorry for all the times I've called the Cena / AJ matches mindless spotfests. Holy shit.

I don't even mind the headscissors escape, it's the literally running at the ropes for no reason that's really annoying.

If they had three more workers do that, they could've formed Voltron.

My favorite ever is during the Young Bucks/Adam Cole vs Sydal/Ricochet/Ospreay match from PWG where there are just crazy moves after crazy moves and the announcers are even joking about how silly it's getting. Then Will Ospreay does a backflip off the ropes and IN MID AIR Adam Cole superkicks him in the face. And you just hear Chuck Taylor go "....Alright then."
I bust up laughing every time I watch it.

Yknow...for as much as Cornette rags on the Omega/kid or Ibushi/doll stuff as exposing wrestling....this is far, far worse for me. As at least within the kayfabe world of those other matches, those are still presented as actual contests, so you can suspend disbelief that in-kayfabe this 9-yr-old kid is somehow an incredible wrestler, or in a wackier promotion that the doll is alive. This? This is straight up both guys breaking the immersion of wrestling as a competition, to do a Cool Flip And Pose for a cheap pop. They're not trying to present it as legit in the slightest. And it takes me entirely out of the match, because it's the same as 2 actors in a play breaking character to do a bow to the audience mid-scene, because they're so proud of their acting.
