But what I am confused about in general. When I think of Harvey Weinstein and his accusations, people have generally asked "If he was doing this why wasn't it reported sooner?"
The general consensus is the accuser was afraid of backlash, lawsuits, and of course possibly being taken out in an ugly fashion. I think of Michael Jackson who was quite possibly the biggest, greatest, and most well known entertainer of time and he was accused twice. Now who is bigger than Michael Jackson?
While I don't believe Michael molested any children at all. However, surely the argument that people were afraid of Harvey and his legal team can't be used right? Because if two unknown children/parents can accuse Michael of child molestation, then anyone can be accused without retaliation?

Shitty as it sounds, what do a bunch of nobodies have to lose by accusing MJ? At worst they owe a bunch of legal fees they'll never be able to pay, declare themselves bankrupt and start over. If you're trying to make a career in entertainment and one of the most powerful people in entertainment abuses you, what do you have to gain by staying quiet compared to what you have to lose by speaking out? People shouldn't be put in the position of having to keep quiet about the abuse they've suffered just to avoid being blacklisted from their career of choice.

I completely understand what you're saying. Just makes me wonder about the circumstances with not just Weinstein, but Spacey, Takei, and several others. It's just frightening to think about that this has been going on and covered up for years. We've heard and read about harassment, casting couch, and sex rings within the industry for quite sometime now. It's just shocking to finally see it coming out to light after many years.

At this rate the only scandal free actor available will be Ron Jeremy, because he was genuinely acting. Ginger Lynn and some other adult film actresses a few years back talked about how Ron has a habit of taking advantage of new women in that industry.

An article by Hollywood Reporter has come out about Tom Sizemore and an incident involving a 11 year old girl has surfaced, she's potentially seeking legal action against him and her parents who found out about it, but didn't do anything. Hollwood Reporter

My immediate reaction was not surprised...and then I read the details and man..that's just horrifying. I was pushed into acting when I was 5 and I'm so glad I pulled myself out of it. That's just horrific.

At this rate there will be no one left by awards season. The Oscars will take place in an empty auditorium with the janitor sweeping up.

Hosted by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. With special quest: Mick Foley, Mankind, Cactus Jack, and Dude Love. Special musical performance by, "Mr Socko".

Every movie in Hollywood will be a remake that just stars Terry Crews and Patrick Stewart playing multiple characters. Oh God I want this to happen so badly right now.

Jimmy Kimmel is hosting again, right? There's two ways the Oscars can go:
One: Jimmy comes out and says, "Now, it would be easy to make jokes about all of the big names who crashed and burned this year. So...here we go." And just Ricky Gervais' everybody.
Two: Kimmel just stands there and reads the names of all the winners as they come up to collect their statues. Like a high school graduation ceremony. Entire show lasts fifteen minutes.

Entire show lasts fifteen minutes. I'd pay money for 2 to happen instead of 1. Nobody needs Gervais. I should expand on this. I'm not a fan of his post Office work anyway, but do we really feel he'd approach the subject with the sensitivity needed? Oh yeah he'd probably tear into some of the people accused but it would be done with a mocking sneer towards the victims too. Kimmel is safer and far less likely to be shocking for the sake of it at a time when it's not the right time to make light of these issues. Ideally you'd get a female presenter now but it's likely too late to change. Give it to Meryl and Lupita.

I should host the Oscars. My monologue will consist entirely of listing all the stars who have worked with or publically supported Roman Polanski since 1977.
