His wife has now left him, and he's hired a high end defense lawyer.

Speaking seriously, this is sadly a problem that will never go away. It’s not purely a Hollywood thing, it happens in corporate America all the time too, to say nothing of politics-which I will not go into detail about here. The majority of victims don’t come forward because they are afraid they will not be believed, or that they will be marked for life because of it. And there is always the sheer intimidation of knowing you could be drawing the ire of people in positions of power. I hope I am not stoking passions too much when I point out that a certain celebrity figure in the US became an outcast because of accusations made agains thim-yet after his passing he has become a virtual saint and all tarnish has been removed. With that in mind, you can’t entirely blame the people who suffer this treatment for being afraid.

Linda Fiorentino, Sean Young, Kim Bassinger to a degree, these people were huge stars who just... stopped being stars. The reasons weren't for accusing people, but they got dropped for even less. What makes people think that wouldn't happen to other actresses for talking? Being in big hits, being a star, it doesn't protect you if people decide to stop working with you. You disappear, and that's not even bringing up getting eviscerated in court with victim blaming and character questioning by defense teams, the cops themselves being, charitably, woefully untrained to deal with sexual assaults, etc, and the court of public opinion that jumps to the conclusion that people want a hand out. It's also a problem of their word versus the accused, rarely with much physical evidence they can rely on, and you have to just hope you have some texts or whatever you didn't delete out of disgust, or some witnesses willing to also put themselves on the line for you. The deck is stacked against the accuser even when it's some layperson, much less a mogul or deeply-entrenched power player. It's a warm, comforting thought that the truth always wins out, but that's not always the reality. Evidence and accusations have to mount because it gets to be too much to bury easily or dismiss as disgruntled ex-emplouyees, etc. Yeah, coming out publicly as a victim of sexual abuse and naming names in a field like this is the equivalent of playing Russian Roulette where 5 out of the 6 chambers are loaded. Especially since they also have to hedge their bets on others also being willing to step forward.

So all these people who made millions with him had no idea he was a lecherous cretin.
They're just outraged, I tell you.

Add a very creepy story from Cara Delevingne to the list
This was probably for Tulip Fever which just came out this year....the assistant saying "You should go up to his room...." That person should be kicked out of....society.

From now on these "hotel room meetings" in the movie business should be considered a red flag. It's like a paedo telling a kid there's free candy in the back of a van.

Oh cool, so "bisexual = we should harass her into threesomes" mentality infects Hollywood too.

All props need to go out to the women who have come forward, as well as Yashar Ali and Ronan Farrow for keeping this on the front page. Their reporting has been crucial.

You may have to come back and edit that post a few times over the next few days.

That's the scary part, these guys often can get away with it. That's how bulletproof a lot of these guys are. I mean... Weinstein was a top producer in Hollywood... he could have literally killed people's careers on a whim if he wanted to. Yeah, even if the accusation goes public the victim will still probably be blacklisted or at least put into the 'too hard' basket. If you're even a mid-range actress then you'll probably find major work incredibly difficult to find, let alone a minor actress that only does bit parts.

Yeah, I bet all the other shady directors are immediately putting all of these on the "well I can't casting couch these frigid bitches" list

and apparently Twitter has now suspended Rose McGowan for some undisclosed violation of Twitter's ToS.
I read unsubstantiated reports its because she tweeted some expletives at Ben Affleck, but it turns out she tweeted a private number which is against Twitters Tos.

Somebody in Affleck's legal team made a call to some patsy at Twitter. They relented.
Probably Biz Stone now that I think about it. He's absolutely useless.

Not even surprised. Happens in all big industries. We need to stop supporting big Hollywood, TV and the music industry, most of it sucks anyway.
