Kayfabe doesn't need to die, worked shoots do.

Kayfabe isn't the problem, consistent episodic storytelling is. If actual story and character development were consistent or even just good, there'd be less problems suspending disbelief. That’s pretty much it. Know what your universe is and build your universe around those characters. People’ll be invested in the shows if it feels like you know what you want to do with the pieces you have before you.

I honestly think there are two paths a company can go down when it comes to Kayfabe
if you wanna kayfabe everyone both in the confines of the show and outside of it then go all in on the Sports direction just a straight competitive no fantastical elements wrestling show.
If you wanna confine Kayfabe to simply the show and not have your guys doing in character interviews or anything like that clearly just saying these guys are performers what is on the show are characters go full TV show.
It is my biggest annoyance with WWE that insistence to keep trying to walk the middle ground and just destroying every sense of immersion.

Kayfabe is gone, and has been gone for a while now. WWE is a television show, and kayfabe has no business in the personal lives of the talent. This isn’t the 1980s. With social media, we get a pretty good look into the personal lives of most celebrities, WWE shouldn’t be any different. In my opinion, the talent of WWE should only be in character during the shows, but can be themselves outside of the WWE Universe, just like the performers of any other TV show or movie.

I don't know that the WWE functions like any other movie or t.v. show

I feel like it should be like any other show: in place during the duration of an episode, other than that eh.
Something like Game of Thrones, during an episode, you suspend disbelief that Danerys controls dragons or whatever, but off-screen Emilia is just Emilia.

I wish WWE had a brand that was total kayfabe and over the top with stuff like final deletion, Undertaker and Kane type stuff or out there gimmicks.

On another note, it seems to me so many fans ditch kayfabe because of workrate and star ratings

That can still be in the main show, just make it make sense for the show universe you have. And no, fans didn’t ditch kayfabe for star ratings, companies ditched it in the Monday Night Wars for ratings and it worked until it didn’t anymore.

On another note, it seems to me so many fans ditch kayfabe because of workrate and star ratings As a brand it wont work because it resides under the WWE umbrella. IMO in order for that to work go all the way with it and it would have to start from the main shows but WWE is so incosistent keeping their own kayfabe that it would bungle it multiple times on the same shows by creating plot holes that not even Barry Allen could fix.

Kayfabe was officially dead as soon as the first wrestler fought a bear.

No but I would appreciate if they didn't rubbed it on my face in social media that they're friends and hang out after the matches.

I don't have a problem with that, because really.....you don't have to follow their twitters. They're not obligated to entertain us on their off hours. If they wanna instagram something they're doing with a pal of theirs, it's their prerogative.

If they wanna instagram something they're doing with a pal of theirs, it's their prerogative. The stranger thing to me is that all the reasons I see for going back to how things were is the same reason we have theme park mascots or people dressed up as the characters in paid cosplay. Like, I know that Donald Duck is a guy in a costume but for that second, that Donald’s mannerisms and actions are setting out to make me believe that guy IS Donald Duck. And you know what? Great. Kids in the parks and kids at heart love that (I’m a sucker for it). But that doesn’t mean they have to be Donald Duck on their time off. There is protocol you have to follow as a Disney employee (same as being a WWE independent contractor), sure, but you don’t have the costume when you’re on your break or off work. You did your job and got paid. That’s all that should be expected. If I watch the show and the Bludgen Brothers are beating the hell out of New Day, that’s what I expect to see and they better be on their A Game when it goes down. Afterwards, if Harper wants to play Gang Beasts with Rusev, English and Victor, let him damn well play Gang Beasts with them. He’s an entertaining dude on two platforms for two different reasons instead of one.
