............oh my God if this costs them the Smackdown/FOX deal..........
We live in the kind of the world now where the outrage could do that.
And it's WWE so OF COURSE THEY'D RUN WITH THIS IDIOT STUNT THE SAME DAY THEY BASICALLY MADE 1 BILLION DOLLARS.

I know people like to bash Impact Wrestling, but at least they treated lashley's character better. Wwe is the new WCW - go and get your money, but they'll have no idea what to do with you creative wise.

Yeah I dont see any transphobic or homophobic jokes here, I see a senile old man putting a segment together and thinking this is "comedy" and it failed hard.

In 20 years, I'll reference this segment when someone asks me why I always carry a broom around. Poor Sami... he tried so hard, but there was no amount of effort that would have been able to polish that bath turd. Fixed

Pathetic.
I really cannot understand WHY they thought that this segment was appropriate at all. I wonder how shareholders would feel when confronted with angry fans?

I find it more confusing than offensive. I'd like to think they weren't making fun of trans people but I can't even understand the logic of the segment. It's as nonsensical as Katie Vick angle. If Lashleys sisters were known to the audience then maybe it would have got heat? Why his sisters? Who the hell are they? This is a guy who had the President if the United States in his corner. A guy who made Vince shave his head. Why aren't they using that? If he's a face then have Steph want revenge for humiliating her dad. If he's a heel then have him be an entitled prima Donna since he helped the Prez.

As been said, Vince still has the same mindset and thought process of when he has 13 years old and found his Dad's hidden stash of nudies for the first time

So...
I just watched it now having read all the uproar about it.
I don't want to be a contrarian but I gotta say, I don't get the fuss.
Was it lame? Sure
Was it anywhere near the lamest, most cringe inducing thing to happen in the history of wrestling? (as some seem to be suggesting) Was it a "quit watching wrestling because this one segment was so lame" moment?
Nah.
Sure, the segment was lame and was clearly falling flat in real-time. But it's wrestling, things fall flat all the time.
I'm reminded of what they used to say about WWF during the attitude era. It's like the circus, if you don't like the clowns just wait, the aerial act will be on in a few minutes.
If the Lashley segment sucks, hold on, the B-Team are about to celebrate their second win.

Sorry, I have no idea what's going on.
Last night, I was watching Will Ospreay vs. Bone Solider Ishimori, and tonight I'm watching Hiromu Takahashi vs. Marty Scurll and Dragon Lee vs. Sho Tanaka.

I can’t believe people are actually crying and being super offended by something done on a wrestling show need to seriously check their sensitivity at the door. Was it dumb? Yep. Could they have done something better? Yep. But should you actually cry because it hurt your feelings. No. Jesus Christ it’s a tv show. Get over it. There's like one person who talked about maybe crying and I feel like it's more 'This is just so bad it was the last straw and I'm upset because I love wrestling but I can't take this shit anymore', I don't see why this has to become a thing about "the sensitive people and their feelings". You couldn't have explained it better. I wasn't offended by the segment proper, but rather that this segment was approved and brought out to the joy of nobody. Coupled with the Fox deal earlier that day and I felt like "How can incompetence be rewarded so handsomely" as a result. I said that about TNA, but they are more like the mooch finding another basement to crash. And it's stuff like this that makes me question why should I care about wrestling. I've never broken down over it until last night. I hadn't exactly been the best lately, but if there's a time to bail and stay out for real, it was last night.

I had a "f*** this" moment with GRR and now I just vaguely keep up with things to kick about here and watch other wrestling instead. Sometimes shit's just at a point where you don't find any joy in watching and don't feel any hope anything is going to get better. Especially if you're going through other shit, there's no reason to keep putting yourself into this situation. Take a break from wrestling, go watch other, non-WWE stuff that you might like better, whatever it takes. But if it's making you miserable, you don't need that shit in your life. Sorry, I have no idea what's going on. Last night, I was watching Will Ospreay vs. Bone Solider Ishimori, and tonight I'm watching Hiromu Takahashi vs. Marty Scurll and Dragon Lee vs. Sho Tanaka. Well no, I wasn’t a fan of the gimmick either then. Whatever entertainment value came from it was Marella and his charisma, not the concept. It was the same “haha, it’s either a man dressed as a woman or a gruff woman!” stuff from last night. And yes, angles like that are transphobic, because they play into negative stereotypes that many trans people have been assaulted and killed over in real life.

Still haven't watched it. Were the "sisters" presented as trans or as obvious actors just pretending to be women?

It's super dumb, it's super stupid, they deserve the heat coming their way, it's not gonna cost them the new tv deals.

And yes, angles like that are transphobic, because they play into negative stereotypes that many trans people have been assaulted and killed over in real life. Oh no I totally get you, just joking around. And yeah that's where it does sort of come around to the issues here; "Ha ha a man in a dress!" and especially like with Santina when he was being booked against other women and fighting for the Ms. Wrestlemania title and all that, are absolutely problems that imply trans women are just men in dresses. And in last night's case, with the guys putting on "I'm trying to sound female" voices, it's still not great. It doesn't have to involve open slurs and direct mockery for it to have shades of transphobia in there and for it to subtly be leaning in that direction. Especially when you consider there's just literally no reason for it to be men instead of women aside from giving Vince some yucks because he thinks men in dresses are funny.

Still haven't watched it. Were the "sisters" presented as trans or as obvious actors just pretending to be women? They were the latter. And I don’t think Vince was specifically going out of his way to malign LGBTQ people, but I feel segments like that do play into a lot of misconceptions that transgender people deal with on a consistent basis. It’s ignorance on the part of the WWE writers, but still irresponsible in this case.
