Still haven't watched it. Were the "sisters" presented as trans or as obvious actors just pretending to be women? Could only make it a few seconds but it sounded more like it was supposed to be men dressed as women, and not transwomen.

Yeah I dont see any transphobic or homophobic jokes here, I see a senile old man putting a segment together and thinking this is "comedy" and it failed hard. Pretty much any time Vince tries to do "comedy", it crashes and burns.

WWE is booked to please Vince and no one else. We all know he's a moron who laughs at stupid shit. He's the only person WWE creative caters to and that's never going to change until he dies.

Still haven't watched it. Were the "sisters" presented as trans or as obvious actors just pretending to be women? They were the latter. And I don’t think Vince was specifically going out of his way to malign LGBTQ people, but I feel segments like that do play into a lot of misconceptions that transgender people deal with on a consistent basis. It’s ignorance on the part of the WWE writers, but still irresponsible in this case. This is pretty much what I was getting at when I was saying it was transphobic. Trans people's voices are finally starting to be heard and are tired of being made to feel like their existence are a joke. So to fall on the old "ha ha isn't it funny that Lashley's sisters are just men in dresses" shit in 2018 is just cringe inducing. And yes Santina was awful when it was happening and in many ways worse. Not really a hill I'd die on trying to defend.

Are you saying that you didn't cry when Lashley punched the helmet to signify that he's working to overcome the trauma of his childhood? Nah, I didn’t watch the segment. I’m gonna have to later anyway to write up the entry for the Golden Snowcones. And yes, I know they’re not until Christmas, but I’m fairly confident that this won’t be topped. You seriously might as well write it up....honestly, it's not even worth putting on the ballot as a blank option. Nothing's topping this. Nope. (at least I sure as hell hope so.)

Man, from the sounds of Raw as a whole, I picked the perfect night to crash on the couch and miss the show entirely.

I think these days blaming things on Vince being old, lame, unfunny, like shit like that doesn't cut it anymore. If someone is turned off from a segment that doesn't make it better. Hell, I didn't like seeing Rusev beat down every black superstar week after week years ago (to the point Xavier even commented on how bad it was) and yet it's ok because it's in Vince's grand plan.

Again it speaks volumes about the worthlessness of WWE's oh so valuable Chief Brand Officer, who completely owes her position to merit and talent, that she is either unable or unwilling to advise her father to stop doing stupid shit that will make the company's image look bad.

I'm trying to imagine this board today viewing the may young giving birth to a hand segment, or the gobbledy gooker hatching at survivor series or the Katie vick segment.
I think we'd see the exact same responses. "That's it, I'm done. This is the worst segment in the WWE ever and screws over their fans entirely".
Not that they'd be wrong but....this segment isn't quite on the same level. It's crap. Boring dumb crap. Not offensive hated crap.

Clearly we need HHH to bone Sister Abigail now.

All that shit was already infamous at the time they came out and probably got those exact reactions back then. Hell, these forums' former associated site in Wrestlecrap calls its Worst Wrestling Thing Of The Year award "the Gooker" for a reason.
And I'd call the segment last night offensive. It was offensive to my intelligence.

I agree in one specific kind of way: there is a sick kind of bad movie-esque enjoyment to be found in Katie Vick, something so amazingly ill conceived and insane that it circles back around in some awful way to become a fascinating train wreck. Last night was worse than that. Last night was less enjoyable than Triple H in a fleshtone thong and a Kane mask f***ing a mannequin in a coffin.

I watched the whole segment and while it was terrible it didn’t strike me as being close to as bad as the Bayley thing or even as bad as Rusev’s lawyer.
It was just stupid and served no purpose and developed no one’s character.

The number one question I came away with afterwards is this: who did it help? It didn't help Sami. He looked like the most incompetent geek in history. It didn't help or Bobby at all because he just laughed it off. It didn't pop a rating or draw any money. So, why did this happen?
Honestly, I think it's just because Vince and Dunn have such awful senses of humor that they thought it would be funny because crossdressers. That's the only reason I think they ever wrote this abomination of a segment.
Someone needs to shove their noses into a calendar and remind them it's 2018. These kinds of sketches worked in the 90s because of the edgy, crash TV culture of the time. It doesn't work now.

Vince thought he was the funniest thing ever.

Well no, I wasn’t a fan of the gimmick either then. Whatever entertainment value came from it was Marella and his charisma, not the concept. It was the same “haha, it’s either a man dressed as a woman or a gruff woman!” stuff from last night. And yes, angles like that are transphobic, because they play into negative stereotypes that many trans people have been assaulted and killed over in real life. Especially when you consider there's just literally no reason for it to be men instead of women aside from giving Vince some yucks because he thinks men in dresses are funny. Well they DID get beat up by Lashley for their trouble. If it WAS actual women (Cis or Trans) getting beat that would get way more heat (with good reason)

I went in optimistic about it, and even I didn't enjoy it.
Not going to claim it was phobia, just an immature segment I'd do goofing around, but as a kid.
They are really hurting Lashley. He did get a decent pop out of it, so there's that at least..

And yes, angles like that are transphobic, because they play into negative stereotypes that many trans people have been assaulted and killed over in real life. Oh no I totally get you, just joking around. And yeah that's where it does sort of come around to the issues here; "Ha ha a man in a dress!" and especially like with Santina when he was being booked against other women and fighting for the Ms. Wrestlemania title and all that, are absolutely problems that imply trans women are just men in dresses. And in last night's case, with the guys putting on "I'm trying to sound female" voices, it's still not great. It doesn't have to involve open slurs and direct mockery for it to have shades of transphobia in there and for it to subtly be leaning in that direction. Especially when you consider there's just literally no reason for it to be men instead of women aside from giving Vince some yucks because he thinks men in dresses are funny.Bryan Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Live today that the reason they had men dressed as women instead of women is because WWE can't/won't do male-on-female violence.
