I really doubt this is going to be Becky Lynch all over again. Bryan actually got boos and in spite of how many people here were sick of his title run, AJ Styles is still very, very popular with a lot of people while Charlotte's had lukewarm reactions vs. a person with red hot reactions in Becky Lynch, who I'd currently argue is one of the most popular wrestlers on the roster.
Bryan needed something to reignite the spark and I think this heel turn is it. The suddenness of it all is probably throwing people off, but I think it's a good move overall.

So this might be silly, but I legit think he was getting booed last night because of the Seahawks colors.
They were in St. Louis, former home of the Rams.

Why do they think heel Bryan is gonna work? They know the fans wont boo Him. Why do they think smackdown needs another top heel When They already have Orton, Joe, Nakamura, Miz hell You could even do something with InsaNity Smackdown has like 5 top faces now AJ, Hardy and the other 3 being New Day. I dont even watch WWE anymore really but still keep up with it but I think I should just ignore the whole company now as its so dumb that it stresses Me out. Bryan pushed for the turn. They gave HIM what HE wanted. We don't know if that true even if it is its still stupid. Maybe in a year or two but not now

Turning Bryan heel might be the point where I quit altogether. That's in the top 10 dumbest things they've ever done.

I was bored of AJ with the title, and Bryan as a face has felt kinda stale, especially with how smug he sometimes comes across in promos. A heel turn and title change does intrigue me some.
Granted, I have less faith in Smackdown than I do Raw, even, but Bryan vs Brock is probably one of the only even remotely interesting matchups for Brock at this point, so... bit curious.

Not everything is “Vince/Dunn/Creative/Whoever hates x so he’s going to do whatever he can to ruin X”

The big difference is that although this is Bryan's comeback run, he's been busy with several feuds and still quite featured as well as getting shots at the title. What did Charlotte in was that Becky was coming off a losing streak and being treated as nothing, clawing her way back up by working through the entire roster and finally reaching the end of a truly fantastic balboa arc when Charlotte snatched it out from under her. It was a perfect storm that led to an amazing feud and if that story hadn't been there Charlotte might well have gotten more cheers. I am curious to see how Bryan as a heel works out.

I think the last time so many people turned was when Russo was booking.
It gets confusing when you turn so many people in the space of a few weeks.

Bryan is the most natural face they have and him winning the 2019 Rumble, then beating either Brock, or Miz, at Mania to win the world title and regain thetop of the mountain is not just a natural story but SUCH a crowd-pleasing, blindingly obvious story that it's beyond "Obvious predictable" and just straight up "This is can't miss route-A booking that will make everybody happy."
So naturally, they f*** up a can't miss like they did with him last time and turn him heel.
What the f*** WWE. How is it that New Japan botching Naito's redemption is the 2nd worst screwup of a popular face this YEAR alone!?

Vince probably realised the Rumble was just round the corner and thought "Dammit they are going to want Bryan to win AGAIN! Ah whatever we'll give him the title then fans won't expect him to win!"

And to think that he was "done" as a main eventer after standing up for himself on the Crowd Jewel mess Vince loves that kinda of behavior, it was probably then that Vince saw him as a man with huge grapefruits worth facing Lesnar

How is it that New Japan botching Naito's redemption is the 2nd worst screwup of a popular face this YEAR alone!? Nah, I disagree with this. I and others have said it already but every singles title Bryan's gained in this company has been that "underdog climbing to the top to get the title" storyline that you're presented. This is Daniel Bryan. The guy who Cole said had the most impressive 1 night performance out of anyone in WWE history. The guy that's beaten the Cenas, Triple Hs, Batistas, Ortons, Shield guys, everyone you name he's beaten them. It's that guy. He's just not an underdog anymore so to do that storyline would sorta be an "eh, again?" type of situation. It's not new, interesting and given who Bryan is it's a waste of time.
Secondly, Bryan himself was the one who had been pushing for this heel turn. The company didn't want to do it but Vince eventually said "ok let's go with it." Bryan knew he needed something else because he knows for a fact that he can't keep relying on the same old stuff repeatedly. Bryan didn't want to do that and mind you that Bryan knew he was getting the title and yet he still wanted that heel turn because he loves being a heel way more than a face.
If you want to blame someone then blame Bryan himself because he doesn't agree with the storyline you're trying to give him. The company did what he wanted and gave him a belt on top of that.

I feel like he's still definitely an underdog because of the whole, coming back from retirement thing. Especially if you put him against Brock, who many quite rightly see as having Vince's balls in a vice and being the final boss of WWE. Miz meanwhile has so much history to it that the story again writes itself and I feel like it was vastly undertold the last couple months. There's a lot you can draw on for it. It's not new, but I think it's still interesting and given how many on here wanted it I'm not alone. And eh, Bryan wanting to do it doesn't make it an idea I'm on board with. I still think it's dumb as hell whoever pushed for it.
