Well, Clinton, George W., and Obama were all two term presidents, so that's 24 years and only 3 presidents. Makes sense so few formers would be living now. It's interesting from a statistical point of view that the most recent former president was one of the youngest elected at his time of inauguration, and the current was one of the oldest elected at his inauguration. US presidents do tend to be upper middle aged (at best) at time of inauguration though, so it makes sense there wouldn't necessarily be a long list of former presidents living at anyone time. The thing we should really be mourning twofold - the death of experience in history and the death of presidents we disagreed with, but still believed to be decent men. Although McCain wasn't president, this makes him spring to mind as well. The death of decent people who genuinely served based on what they thought was best for a nation should be mourned, regardless of the side of politics they came from.

My grandfather also died after my grandmother passed away eight months earlier. When you're with someone that long and are that far up their in age, it definitely doesn't help. RIP.

"Only" 4 Presidents still alive? We should feel honored. There were 5 times where there were ZERO former Presidents alive. (Not counting Washington's 2 terms, as he was the first to hold that title.)
John Adams (1799-1801), after George Washington died in 1799. Ulysses S. Grant (1875-77), after Franklin Pierce died in 1869, Millard Fillmore died in 1874 and Andrew Johnson died in 1875. Theodore Roosevelt (1908-09), after Grover Cleveland died in 1908. Herbert Hoover (1933), after Calvin Coolidge died on Jan. 5, 1933, until Hoover left office on March 4, the last president to do so. Richard Nixon (1973-74), after Dwight Eisenhower died in 1969, Harry Truman died in 1972 and Lyndon Johnson died in 1973.

The scion of one of the most prominent families in Connecticut history, the son of US Senator, the father of a President and a President himself (as well as VPOTUS, CIA Chief, Head of the RNC, etc), a combat wounded Decorated Naval Officer... his accomplishments go on. While myself and my family rarely agreed with him politically it was clear that he cared deeply about the United States and took actions he thought were for the betterment of the country. Rest in Peace sir.

We actually had a similar streak under Bill Clinton in 1993 - Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush I. Nixon died in April 1993, but we didn’t lose another until Reagan died in 2003, so we were up to Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush I, Clinton. So, five in an era of great health care isn’t unreasonable. . Want something weirder? During the Carter administration, there were only two living ex-Presidents (Nixon and Ford).

What I loved about him most was he went skydiving...at age 75, 80, 85 and 90! Retirement didn't mean living was over. You've only just begun to live. They took him out of the wheelchair and put him on the plane at 90 years old. That's insane! Yet, that's who he was.
If you've ever seen a Garry Shandling stand up in the early 90s, he tells a story about getting to meet him and work the Washington correspondents dinner that evening. "I get cleared and I get to go to the third floor of the White House; where the First Family actually lives, where nobody goes. And there's President Bush behind a desk in shirt sleeves waving me in 'C'mon in!' He's the kindest, gentlest man; I swear to you, if you had an Uncle Bush, he would be just like this. I thought he was gonna give me a nickel at one point. I'd be like 'Ohh, Mister President, what will I buy?' Anyway, he's this war hero, this great leader and stuff, but he's like this regular guy who just happens to be doing this job and loves what he's doing. He's showing me the Gettysburg address signed by Lincoln(!!!), okay. And as he showing, he turns to me and says 'And you know, there's LOTS of stuff like this here!' "
RIP good sir, and thank you for your service.

To tie it back into the forum at large, wasn't he the President who wanted Mr. Wrestling II at his inauguration, but the mask couldn't clear security? Or was that Carter?

All I could find was stuff about Bush Sr. coaching a Pony League baseball team that Wahoo McDaniel played on. Dunno about anything that happened post-1988 wrestling-wise with him.

Interesting fact about George Bush was that he played in the first two College World Series for Yale back in 1947 and 1948.

He’s the first president in my lifetime that I was aware of.
That’s pretty much all I know about him

Only WWE and Vince being big supporters during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Think Hogan did some USO stuff, but can’t recall meeting with Bush.

Just seen the note he left for Bill Clinton as he was leaving office.
"Your success is the country's success, so you will have my full support"
Great to see him put aside political alliances and think of the greater good.

94 years is an amazing run in and of itself. He was a great man, a great leader and by all accounts that I've read, an even greater family man.
RIP Mr. President.

He met Ric Flair at a Republican fundraiser in 1990. from thehistoryofwwe.com: - 6/20/90: NWA World Champion Ric Flair attended a fundraiser for Sen. Jesse Helms (R-NC) in Charlotte. Flair was requested to attend on behalf of President George H W Bush and sat at the head table with the president. During the fundraiser, Bush introduced Flair, with Gov. Jim Martin then holding up four fingers. Flair had a personal audience with the president for about 10 minutes. NWA US Tag Team Champion Stan Lane was also in attendance. Bush was, from most accounts, at least something of a wrestling fan. He was friends with Ernie Ladd and there was some sort of connection he had with Paul Boesch long before he took office. Have also read two different references to an encounter between Bush and Johnny Valentine resulting in Valentine flipping him off to his face, but I know nothing else about that.

^ did not know about the Flair story. Imagine how awesome a picture if Flair and Bush with Bush doing the Four Horsemen hand gesture would be.
Knew about Jimmy Carter being a huge Mr. Wrestling fan, not about any others.
