Yeah. This is shitty. We’ve talked a lot about how WWE only uses a small portion of their roster.

they will beat anyone’s offer for talent, although they did not do so in the case of Chris Jericho. Something about this line is hilarious to me. I'm imagining Jericho showing up at Titan Towers with a big grin and a copy of his AEW offer, only for Hunter to laugh and shut the door in his face.

BRAH, hahahahaha. What a good time to be a wrestler. You can finesse the shit outta folks if you are smart enough.
"Yeah HHH, I'd like to sign BUT AEW just sent me this big time offer." *slides HHH a piece of a paper*
HHH: "...This offer is written in crayon. With several spelling errors."
"Well, they were in a rush and that was the only thing around. Plus, you know those indie goofs can't spell, amirite? Hahahahaha, OK, you give me money now."
HHH: "Hmmmm...f*** it, I need another warm body for NXT Midwest. You're signed."

I mean, it gives the talent more money to provide for themselves and their families. Let’s not forget that AEW is likely going to do the same thing.

Hell of a time to be both a wrestler and wrestling fan right now.

I'm actually really bummed that the Pokemon joke was you paraphrasing and not actually a Mad Money Meltz quote because I had already gone to pull this up on my second screen while reading the article but now it just feels like a waste of effort.

These types of promises are gonna leave the wrestling business in lets say a decade in shambles because now to compete other companies are gonna have to play the same ball like when WCW was handing out guaranteed conracts with guaranteed money and that completely changed everything and not for the better.

Man, PWI posted a story that Ziggler might be done after turning down a producer role last week.
It's just funny to me that Ziggler turning down a producer role might have been a component to have Vince rethink some shit rofl.

Not sure the WCW situation still applies. There was such a disconnect between the Turner corporate offices & Bischoff, they had deals with people who never worked. WWE probably at least has the intent to create content with the wrestlers and the power structure is extremely narrow at the top.
The Jericho situation definitely seems like one where WWE no longer sees him as a top guy & other companies do. He took the deal he should have.

As much as I like the idea of AEW being an alternative (not competition), what does WWE gain from signing everyone and everything? They don't need more brands or TV products and they barely use the guys they have now.

These types of promises are gonna leave the wrestling business in lets say a decade in shambles because now to compete other companies are gonna have to play the same ball like when WCW was handing out guaranteed conracts with guaranteed money and that completely changed everything and not for the better. I think more than that, it's going to leave WWE in shambles. "We will literally double this offer if you sign with us right now" is f***ing madness. WWE is on such a self-destructive course right now with all of these ideas and it's going to bite them in the ass hard if they let it keep going. Right now they have these massively inflated TV rights and the Saudi Arabia money giving them the kinds of revenue streams that they've never had bfore, but those aren't going to last forever. Ratings and ticket sales are stil dwindling and like I've been harping on for the longest time: there is a point where the bottom falls out on their audience decline and the climate of the TV market becomes something different, and at that point WWE is going to face a crash unless they change course long before they reach that point. With all these contracts they're signing on for, it's going to create an insane and unsustainable situation the company won't need at a period of decline. Previosuly, that decline was never going to be something I thought would destroy or kill WWE. With them spending like this and making these moves, I think there's a solid chance of actually bringing the company to a very bad place. This insane hoarding tendency and a need to sign everyone and kill off any competition no matter how small is going to be a recipe for disaster. WWE reached the heights of its glory days off of aggressive talent plays, and now we may be reaching a point where those same moves may be what destroys it.

Seriously hoping this leads to a bunch of people signing, making bank, making the least effort imaginable then bailing once the contract ends

So, you have Cody give you a bogus offer of a billion dollars a year. You take that offer to WWE. They double it. Boom! instant billionaires. It was almost too easy.

It’d make more sense to just go to AEW
