Well, damn, this’d probably be the biggest exit from WWE since Punk left.

He'd be great in NJPW though.

As someone who really hasn't been watching since last Wrestlemania: was it really that bad? Did they bungle the heel turn? It seemed so easy.

Well, shit. That’ s a pretty big blow, honestly. The Shield boys are the acts they’ve invested the most into in recent years and now they’ve lost Roman (temporarily, hopefully) and Dean in a six month span

Well, damn, this’d probably be the biggest exit from WWE since Punk left. I would put it on the same level as Cody, TBH. If true, it sounds like it's about at the same level of acrimony for similar reasons. And, coincidentally, you have to figure AEW and ROH are going to be chomping at the bit to sign the guy as a centerpiece of the Free Agent Wars.

You could see it in how he's been in the ring. His oversell of the Curbstomp was up there with HBK's selling of Hogan's big boot and he was telegraphing everything he was going do to. He was setting up for stuff 3 or 4 moves before Rollins was even ready. I am NOT saying he was doing any of it on purpose, just that you can tell he's checked out already.
EDIT: ROH and AEW have to be lining up the Brinks trucks already. He'd be huge for either one.

I have to wonder if he wants to go somewhere else, or if he just wants to go home.
He hates doing social media, etc, and that's kind of a big deal for someone doing the indies thing, promotion and all, but he's also probably got a lot of money in the bank. He is likely pretty set to just do whatever he feels like doing as Jon Moxley, or just staying home.

Especially after him apparently nearly dying last year from complications from his injury. He might have just decided that it's not worth it anymore.

Yeah, if his heart's not in it anymore, then there's no point in staying and doing such a grinding schedule. From how it reads, it doesn't seem like it'd be a "bridges burnt" type of departure... hopefully, anyway.

If this is his career done, he did a shitload in a short amount of time and has nothing to be ashamed of. If this is more like a "I still want to wrestle, just on my terms and schedule", I respect that, too. Dude has to have a lot of Shield money in the bank, and realistically, he's going to be looking at residuals from that for years to come. He's got the security to do whatever he feels best.

A damn shame, but I can’t say I didn’t see this coming. Dude was jerked around for way too long. Dude went from being a serious dude in the shield, to a wacky man, to a kingpin champion, back to a wacky man, to a scorned friend, to a wacky friend, to a serious brute, to a heel turn, to a germaphobe, to a moral compass.
Definitely won’t be surprised.
