TBS would certainly love to have Ambrose join AEW.

What the hell? I don't follow current wwe but this look is terrible? I preferred his grunge shield look to whatever this is? Looks like a random nobody who walked in off the street. I think they were trying to avoid having him be "cool heel" since he'd have just kept getting cheered, but they took it too far in another direction. The weird sirens they added to his music doesnt help the crowd reaction either

His heel turn should have ran Raw.
Now he looks like a chump. And to add insult to injury, they had Nia hit him last night... imagine Austin taking that. Ambrose COULD have been on that level.

Oh shit, the curse lives on. What the hell? I don't follow current wwe but this look is terrible? I preferred his grunge shield look to whatever this is? Looks like a random nobody who walked in off the street. He looks like a generic thug on "Streets of Rage 2."

At the end of the day, I’d say Ambrose has had a good run, especially for someone with a deathmatch background. Did he get to reach his full potential? No. The character never got to be as dangerous and dark as it could have been. I’d even say that his FCW run is probably his best character work in the WWE system. But, once he got to the main roster, he was basically a featured talent the entire time, arguably up until this possible last few months where he’s dropped from upper midcard/fringe main eventer to just midcard.
He’s won a shitload of belts and got a back catalogue of banger matches with a whole bunch of Shield six-man tags and some other scattered stuff here and there (SummerSlam 2014 Lumberjack match with Rollins, Backlash 2016 with Styles, the tag matches with The Bar)... There’ll be some regrets, but not too many.

Honestly I'd been having trouble thinking of what Ambrose's current run reminded me of and the news he's leaving made me realize it - it's King Booker after he lost the World title. You know, when he was aimlessly drifting in random midcard matches then looked like a total loser feuding with Lawler before just disappearing like it was nothing. Except at least King Booker was still actually entertaining instead of having every aspect of him neutered to the point of being borderline unwatchable like Ambrose has.

I never liked skinny Ambrose. He came and finally looked like a star and now he’s leaving. Damn

Good.
I don't know which company he'll end up with, but now that there seems to be a relatively equal financial alternative in AEW emerging for the first time since the Attitude Era, I no longer feel guilty or naive about saying guys that have long been misused or looked at as a second banana should leave and give up those big paychecks. Some guys at his level MUST leave in order to send a message that there is an actual competitive marketplace for talent, and the company can't just keep it on autopilot like they have for way too long. Moves like this will actually test WWE creative to the point that they'll either actually have to step up their game or get left in the dust.
I like it, this is a baller move. It's time for the talent to start taking back some of the control, stop making it so easy for companies to jerk them around.

I understand it, I can see why he would be frustrated. There have been a lot of flubs with him and this heel turn was a big letdown. But, I can also see Ambrose being pretty hard to figure out what to do with. His character has always been kind of hard to get a handle and read on for me, and I know he is supposed to have this natural charisma and magnetism, but it has never really translated to me. We will see how he does elsewhere, or if he just wants to chi and do some other stuff, I am sure they will welcome him back.
I can’t imagine him just jumping to AEW or something though, not with Renee’s position in WWE.

Holy shit, damn. I love Dean and I'll be sad to go, but I'll follow him wherever he goes (no, not in THAT way...)

Not being able to reform the shield to pop a rating or hype up a houseshow actually seems like a really big deal. He's not a game changerfor another company but losing him hurts.

I can’t imagine him just jumping to AEW or something though, not with Renee’s position in WWE. Why not? He has to collect checks from somewhere if not WWE. If they retaliate against Renee, they'll look petty AF (though I admit that's never stopped them before). If worse comes to worse, they can very easily find a spot for her in AEW or wherever he ends up. I doubt she's too worried.

This current run hasn't done him any favors and to be fair the guy's clearly phoning it in, which hasn't helped. it's a shame because you can make the case for him being their most over babyface in 2015-16 and he was even able to bounce back from the Brock bullshit to have what was a pretty damn good (IMO) WWE title run.

A shame but it's always good to see these guys doing what's right for them. I'm sure he'll be back when he's ready and it sounds like he's doing everything properly to make his exit.

Yeah, if his heart's not in it anymore, then there's no point in staying and doing such a grinding schedule. From how it reads, it doesn't seem like it'd be a "bridges burnt" type of departure... hopefully, anyway. Yeah, it doesn't look like a "bridges burnt" thing, they offered him a raise and they probably want to keep Renee. The injury, complications, his not social nature, and Roman's illness has probably all added up to him just being completely burnt out and doesn't want to do it anymore. This would be my answer. Take a year off, or go work somewhere with a lighter schedule, maybe get talked back to WWE under his terms. Though I'd pay some WM Money to see him and HHH do a contract negotiation on Raw like Punk did
