Wow, the Reset trick in Sonic 2 actually works on this. The trick being that if you collect any Chaos emeralds and reset, you can start the game with those emeralds intact. So you can get Super Sonic on Emerald Hill.

Internally the Genesis Mini is basically the same exact product as the SNES, so hacking's pretty much already coming together on it. Yeah, there's a few differences on the programming side of things so it's really just a matter of time. Probably within a week, based on how quickly the NES and PlayStation minis were hacked.

I honestly feel like these mini systems are made with the full knowledge that they will be hacked and roms will be loaded (even judging from the txt file found in the NES Classic that read "We spend a lot of time on this, so please don't mess up the place.")

Playing through Bloodlines (The Vampire Killer rom) and I gotta admit this game is amazing. I could never find a cart at decent price, so it's great to see just how well built this game is.

I know the Super Retro-Cade lets you do it right out of the box.

WOW someone else remembers Skitchin'. Back in about 96 a buddy got it cheap at Blockbuster. For weeks all we did was sit around his house playing Skitchin and listening to the Red Hair Demo album.

Finally beat Castlevania Bloodlines (Cheesing with save states, but the point remains). Fun game. Honestly, I think I like a lot of it more than Castlevania IV, but IV still beats it in terms of controls.

Update: Project Lunar is expected to launch next week, so it'll be the first viable hack tool for the Mini.

Project Lunar is live. Tested it on my Mini and it works fine. You'll definitely need a flash drive to store games since there's a little over 100 megs to play with, but if you aren't hunting a large library and want some missing titles, this is a fine tool.

Right now, most games work, but some have errors. Notably, Zombies has issues, NBA Jam: TE won't work, and Hyperstone Heist has audio issues where sound won't play.

Got my mini at Christmas and having a ball with it. Tetris to me is really terrible. The controls aren't as fluid or tight as the NES/GB versions. No wonder why it didn't get released. Also, was Ghouls and Ghosts that hard? I can barely get passed the turtles in Level 2. Aside from that, loving it all and have been doing a lot of Road Rash 2 playing. It's a great game and I'm happy its on there.
