It's still one of my favourite WM's in terms of sheer aesthetic. The outdoor Roman temple theme was amazing.

I thought it looked like crap. The show was really exposed when Michaels and Perfect had the back stage fight in a storage shed. I just didn't dig the Roman look. It was really fake and cartoony to me. Plus what was up with the old security guards that were used in the Giant Gonzalez match instead of the regular fake cops WWE uses?

I liked it, not the entire show but I liked the Steiners/Headshrinkers and the main event ending.

IX is bad. The best kind of bad. The kinda bad that swings all the way around and becomes incredibly fun. It's absolutely one of my favorite PPVs ever. I’d watch WrestleMania IX over WrestleMania 32 six days a week and twice on Sunday.

Even then you could see Shawn using his pull to affect matches

This was the first WrestleMania I ever watched, as I had been a wrestling fan for just over a year up to this point. The very beginning of the show looked so cool and futuristic to me, with the wrestlers appearing on the buildings and Vince’s enthusiastic intro.
May I admit something to the board? Luna Vachon scared the crap out of me as a kid.
I had the Coliseum Video version of this show, which included footage of Luna attacking Sherri in the trainer’s room. I always looked away when the video got to that part. Thinking about it now, I don’t know why I didn’t just hit fast-forward.

its bad but I'd rather watch it than 32, 11, 13 (except Bret/Austin,) and 27 (except HHH/Taker)

It's one of my first choices when putting on a classic PPV because it's just so weird and different. I really wish they would have gone that far with the theming more then, or even now. When every... single... show looks exactly alike, it's a VERY welcome change.

It was a quick money grab and they were desperate. Warrior basically failed and Hogan was on his way out. Vegas offered them enough to do the show there but unfortunately it all went wrong. Even the f***ing vulture wanted to attack Taker during rehearsals lol.

It's a weird show with matches that booked themselves into a corner at every turn. They didn't want to take the IC off Shawn but didn't want Tatanka's streak to end. Didn't want Money Inc. to job to Hogan and Beefcake given the main event nonsense, didn't want to job Gonzalez in his first notable WWF match, and didn't really want Bret to job clean either. This show and SS 1993 are two of the worst booked WWF shows maybe ever. That said, the only real utter trash is the whole Crush/Doink thing. Keep in mind in Bret's book he said Bulldog was originally going to do the Doink feud if he stayed around, but he refused. Given that around this time he was being groomed to feud with Vader in WCW for the title I would say he made the right call.

Does anyone know how Hogan suffered that hideous black eye?

I love Macho Man commentary at least.
And Hulk Hogan was ahead of his time in terms of the MITB.

Does anyone know how Hogan suffered that hideous black eye? Either Hogan was in a jet ski accident or Savage punched him backstage due to him taking Liz's side in the divorce. Up to you who believe.

Considering jet skis have a built in feature to not do what Hogan claimed happened, he also said he managed to work a Neveda commissioner into believing it was just make up. His story is pretty fishy.

It was really fake and cartoony You must be new to pro-wrestling. Been a fan for nearly 30 years. Goofy stuff has it's place in wrestling but not imo at the biggest show of the year.

Probably didn’t help that when Hogan came out JR said something like “Hogan must have had an accident” and Macho says “it must have been a cheap shot” lol
