It was the first Wrestlemania I'd ever seen, and I'm amazed it wasn't my last. Saying that, I loved the double Doink moment, and Razor getting cheered over Backlund (and gloating about it to him) blew my freaking mind at the time, because I'd never seen a heel get cheered before.

I absolutely love the set, its the booking that's horrible.
The thing with 1993 is, its roster was almost completely different to 1992 because they lost so many wrestlers. Looking who is at Wrestlemania 8, but no longer in the company at 9 is big. Its also the first WM to not feature the two people who in last years main event.
The Legion of Doom (interviewed) Jake The Snake Roberts Rowdy Roddy Piper Big Boss Man The Mountie Ric Flair The Natural Disasters Hulk Hogan Sid Justice Ultimate Warrior
I feel like they had quite a task on hand having to build up a lot of newbies on this card as well. You had these guys making thier Mania debuts, this is almost as many that is missing from last year.
The Steiner Brothers The Headshrinkers Crush (as singles) Doink Razor Ramon Bob Backlund Lex Luger Giant Gonzales Yokozuna
I feel like they still could have built a solid card had they used Ric Flair & Randy Savage, you keep Ric on until Mania instead of letting him go early (he was under contract until June, I am sure Flair would have stayed another month for a sound Mania paycheck) those two alone being utilised would have given it more star power than it had
Put Flair in the match with Perfect and get the awesome Loser Leaves Town Match on PPV instead, you put Savage with Razor Ramon to blow off that feud, you give Razor the victory to build him up as a top heel. Then move Lex Luger into a match with Owen Hart as a filler match to get Luger over and Owen is gread enough to make Luger look good.
Bret vs Yoko Perfect vs Flair Savage vs Razor Money Inc vs Mega Maniacs Shawn vs Tatanka Undertaker vs Gonzales Headshrinkers vs Steiners Doink vs Crush Lex Luger vs Owen Hart

It’s strange. Like it should have been a PPV special and not a Mania

It's crap, but enjoyable crap. It's nostalgic crap. I did not care for it at the time, but.......there's a hint of nostalgia there, mixed with a good aesthetic as you mention in another post. It's very right near that line where the classic WWF (to me) ended and the New Generation / oh this all just looks terrible in an outdated sorta way WWF began.

It's crap, but enjoyable crap. This is my thought as well. I watched it and XI recently and IX was a far easier watch than XI. XI was a damn chore to get through.

I absolutely loved this WM as a kid. It has its moments and is still my favorite from a visual standpoint.

This was the first WrestleMania I didn't ravenously hunt down at the video store as soon as it was released. It was years before I watched it all the way through, which I did again last night because of this thread.
Some thoughts: - They're like a month into the show before they start the intros for the opening match. - Could not believe the number of blown spots and screw-ups in promos. Perfect tripping over himself with "The Lexercist" takes the cake. Really sloppy for a WrestleMania. Everyone just seemed to be off. - Randy Savage saying "DOIN' THE THING!" 950 times on this show is my counterpoint to every person who says they liked Savage as a commentator. - Shawn and Tatanka clearly don't care about Luna and Sherri's presence. - Todd Pettengill with his backwards cap and earring at the toga party is every guy you've ever met who tries too hard to be cool. - I would have preferred Razor vs. Kamala to Razor vs. Backlund. It's already a silly show, so just go 100 percent with it. - Natalie Cole stunned that Hogan was giving away "real money" ... as opposed to fake wrestling money? Also, her total cluelessness about who Pettengill is. - I bet people in the live crowd, not hearing the commentary after the Mega Maniacs match, thought Danny Davis was back to being an actual heel ref character. - Okerlund mispronouncing "athleticism" multiple times. It's like he'd never heard the word before. - Savage trying hard to get across the possibility that Gonzalez actually MURDERED the Undertaker. - Gonzelez, after attempted murder and chokeslamming a ref, backs away from a bunch of middle-aged security guards. - Say what you will about Hogan stinking up this show (and I'm one of the people who really resented him even being there, let alone winning the title), but the live crowd was SUPER into him. - I would love to know all the other things Bret had planned for that match. He claims in his book that Yoko was badly blown up and went home early. I thought it was pretty solid.

He claims in his book that Yoko was badly blown up and went home early. I thought it was pretty solid. Fans are also chanting Hogan at the end of the Luger/Yoko match at X. He overstayed his welcome by 1992 but 1992-1993 he was at least giving fans reason to like and want him. I thought the Las Vegas theme was pretty cool but sometimes WWF tried way too hard to put something cool on but as someone else mentioned the venue looked pretty subpar when you look back on it. It almost looked like a real life version of an arena a little kid would make, putting a lot of makeshift stuff together but behind the scenes is just his room. They should have just put the show in a casino or convention hall, like IV and V because that stair setup still looks cool to me and I don't believe has ever been done outside those two events. I'm also thinking a casino or hall would already have an aesthetically pleasing setup. I was just getting back into wrestling (for some reason I took a few different summers and early winters off from watching wrestling) so I did enjoy seeing this but as an adult you can see things just not being as good as a normal WrestleMania. This was another show that kind of suffered by a slim roster and lack of quality storylines. Where most previous WrestleMania's had many more feuds going on, they also had more quality feuds built over a longer period of time (sometimes many months) but this was pretty much thrown together. WrestleMania X would be much better with talent and storylines but then XI a year later was worse. At IX you missed Nasty Boys, Beverly Brothers, High Energy, Virgil, Bossman, Hacksaw, Bushwhackers, Terry Taylor, Damien Demento, Natural Disasters and Jerry Lawler and most of those guys were just about to leave, if they hadn't already left or were injured in real life or in storyline.

WM XI > WM IX
I was fully on board the HBK train at this point, although he wasn't really seen as a true main eventer yet.

........if they'd put Tito/Shango on the actual show, it woulda bumped the star rating up by at least 2.
(Tito Santana's last WM was a dark match. He won, making it his 2nd WM victory - his 1st was at WM1.)

Show hasn't aged well with the racist moments with the Japanese fans segment and Hogans Yokozuna comment.

If anything put Brooklyn Brawler on a dark match since he probably did more dark matches than anyone.

Has footage of El Matador vs. Papa Shango ever come out?
The idea of Tito Santana leaving the WWF as a winner at WrestleMania still baffles me.

Seeing this show live in England meant I had to stay up all night to see it. I was 18 so that wasn’t a bad thing, but come 3am I was pretty pi**ed off at what I’d just seen. I’ve said on here before that alarm bells began ringing when Hogan gave the promo saying that he and Bret were all BFFs backstage. Somehow I knew that I’d not seen the last of Hogan at WMIX, but never expected him to get the belt!
I agree with those who say that IX is better than XI, though. Not by much, but it’s a better show in terms of production, look and content.
