The biggest failure with Jason Todd was putting his fate up to popular vote and killing him off based on that rather than on telling a good story. It was a dumb idea to begin with because comic fanboys have always been terrible like that. Granted, but I feel like telling a good story in this particular case would have been killing him anyway. It would've been absurd for him to survive what he went through, the character wasn't popular anyway, and a ton of quality material came out of the decision to kill him.

Deadpool. When Black Mask was getting a push to be a top villain for Batman in the mid-2000s he had go away heat with me. Black Mask is so much more interesting when they're not trying to push him as an A-lister. I am totally cool with him being a B-tier kind of villain, that is a lot more appropriate for him, particularly if they just let him be a freaking weirdo.

Black Mask, brilliant schemer pulling the strings on everything? Boring. Black Mask, guy who tries to be that only to get enraged as it all blows up in his face? Fantastic.

For Damian and Jason, depends on who is handling them.
Saw a recent(?) comic where Jason finally made some peace with what happened to him, and that's a good step for the character, that he accepted that what happened to him was because he went it alone. If that moves him away from being such a dickhead, super.
Damian works a bit better if you play his arrogance against his insecurities. He's overcompensating because he doesn't just have one parent figure who is difficult to get approval from like a lot of these types, but three in the form of Bruce, Talia, and Ra's. He also knows he isn't ever going to have the same relationship with Bruce that Dick or Tim have, and that f***s with him, too, so he has to try to act like he's perfect. I think there a way forward with the character in that which keeps him from being a dime-store edgelord.
I think you also have to embrace the inherit silliness of Damian as almost a living parody of "I'MBATMAN" portrayals of Bruce, like Damian claiming he can rest parts of his brain individually to never have to sleep. Patently bullshit, but exactly the kind of thing a kid would think makes him sound impressive.

The Fantastic Four are completely lame.
Most of Marvel's ultra powerful heroes I care little about. Thor, Iron Man, Sentry. Theyre ok in a team but I dont care individually.
I find I just can't relate to them. Or find their foes interesting.
I much prefer the street level heroes... Daredevil, Spider-Man, Iron Fist. They're more relateable and their rogues gallery is cooler and more interesting to me.
Like, I'd much rather read a story with a villain like Kingpin, Hammerhead, Doc Ock than about Thanos or Ultron.

These Damian Wayne comments make me think....a mini version of a well loved character....a son or maybe a nephew? Obnoxiousness turned up to eleven?

I never really thought about it but that's a damn good answer. The character's roots aren't bad by any means, but he's been coasting off of one kill for nearly 50 years now and has been the starting point of a LOT of horrible shit for decades now. Yep. He’s got go away heat from me nowadays. Wish he’d have stayed dead.

I thought Warren Ellis did a great job with Norman in Thunderbolts as this guy who thinks he's a big-time player but is really just an psycho with more money than the other psychos but that unfortunately ended up letting others take him into the total realm of absurdity that was Dark Reign and Siege. I just didn’t really care for that version of the Thunderbolts. Huge fan of the Zemo led book, and Norman’s version felt like a mockery to me of how good the other book was.

I like the character of Valeria Richards but they should tone her down to a more realistic level. She is pretty much an off the IQ charts genius, wise old lady in a childs body.

Modern day Carol Danvers is insufferable.
The Sentry’s brief ultra push was also awful.

I never really bought into Mister Sinister. I never got a handle on his motives, his powers, and his goals.
Same with Apocalypse. Ridiculously overpowered.
Sentry should have never been brought back after the initial 'forgotten hero' story.

More of a leg of the plot than one specific character, but I've always found the X-Men space stuff incredibly stupid and out-of-place.

I have been completely over Wolverine since 1995.
Also, f***ing Magog. I f***ing hate that character. He serves a fine purpose in Kingdom Come, which f***ing rules, but when they decided to have him show up in Justice Society in the main DC universe? f*** that noise. It was all because they wanted to slap a Superman on the team, so they pulled Kingdom Come Superman and then pulled Magog...and then did a shitty Civil War kind of storyline that split the team into two seperate teams. This completely killed both books. Justice Society had become too big of a team as, for sure, but instead of trimming back, they expected you to buy two books...one of which starred f***ing Magog. They even put some of the best characters on each team just to really f*** you over. Like the marriage between Hourman and Liberty Bell? Well they are on seperate teams now, motherf***ers!
Anyway it was very cathartic watching him die in the Brightest Day tie-ins.
I guess it's silly since none of that shit is even in continuity since New 52 anymore, but damn did it ruin my favorite book.

Wolverine. They took a popular character and drove him into the ground by making him a constant presence across all books and animated series then threw every other x-man of note under the bus for Wolverine in the movies, Cyclops getting the worst of it. I understand capitalising on a popular character but they went way beyond that and now I'm just so utterly burned out on him and all of his side characters, clones and offspring.

Sentry - A literal joke character who I never got the appeal of. Thanos/Darkseid - I'm lumping them together on the premise that if they're beaten, it was only a clone/avatar, not the real deal. Or written as "they actually wanted to lose for the better good".

Spider-Man. Not that I particularly dislike the character, I've just never cared one bit about him.
