I'll say it right now, I don't like Fall Out Boy, but then again most Pop stuff made after 2000 I truly dispise.
The 80s was the best decade. Early Rap, R.E.M. when they were good, the Stones first Farewell Tour, Michael Jackson's hair catching on fire and frying his brain (which may have caused him to be with the kids), Scandal and the list goes on and on.

Why? Well, he just seems like (pardon the word) a poser to me and a little arrogant. Plus the attention always has to be on him. I have the same problem with Brandon Flowers, although my problem with Brandon is not so much his looks it's just the crap he comes out with in interviews slagging off Fall Out Boy, MCR, Green Day, Bravery etc. The whole 'emo is dangerous' thing doesn't really help. The only guy who can slag off anybody in an interview and get away with it is Noel Gallagher. Because he's f***ing hilarious. I'm with ya on all those points. I like FOB quite a bit, but Pete strikes me as a bit of an attention whore. And The Killers are one of my favourite bands ever...they're amazing. But sometimes Brandon Flowers can be intensely arrogant, and it's a little off-putting. If only he weren't so damn hot. And yeah, Noel is hilarious. What's wrong with being an attention whore? It's not like he's slaughtering puppies.

It's not like he's slaughtering puppies. True, but the rest of the band is pretty much completely ignored for Pete. I know it happens a lot, but still...everyone focuses on Pete and doesn't care about anyone else. Patrick OCCASIONALLY gets attention, but it's mostly just Pete.

I hate Pete Wentz. That man is earning millions of dollars every year and very likely getting hit on by a groupie at this very moment, and yet all he can talk about in his interviews is anti-depressants.

Well I don't know about you guys but I like all of their CDs. They have yet to disappoint me. And I'm not a poppy punk person.
And as far as the comparisons between FOB and PATD!... well I can say I can always tell the difference in their voices. PATD! angers me alot of the time. They have a few good songs but eh, well overrated.

It kinda bored me...it wasn't very interesting. I like Cork Tree and Infinity on High a million times better than their old stuff.

Are they the ones who do that song about "haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?" Because that song - as much as I want to hate it - is catchy as all hell. That's 'Panic! At the Disco'. The songs called 'I write sins not tragedies'. Fallout Boy. They did a good cover of 'What's this?' from Nightmare Before Christmas. I like them, but I've never really considered them an emo band. I mean, yeah, their guitarist looks emo, but their songs seem quite upbeat. Wouldn't go out of my way to watch them in concert or anything but I don't mind listening to their songs.

Hate to bring this up again, but I really, really get tired of the word "emo"...a lot. I'm so sick of it being hurled around as an insult. If you don't like music, fine, but is there any reason to insult anyone else's taste? Nope. And for the record, mcmahonfan...that song is godawful, and is NOT emo. Agreed!

They're pop-punk. Ain't nothin' wrong with that. But they're also really, really, not particularly good. They can write a good chorus, but lyrically WAY too clever for their own good. Half their lyrics are just strung-together cliches. But, if it helps... in the video for "Carpal Tunnel of Love" (yeah, their song titles are even more of that not-wittiness) they get run over and decapitated by a runaway ice cream parlor. So that's nice.

Heard em, think they are waxing awful....I'd rather listen to a cat get thrown into a tree shredder.

The difference between PATD and FOB is that FOB seems to be more of a straight-up pop/punk band, while Panic takes influences from techno and cabaret-style music.

The problem i have is why is it called emo? Because it's emotional? Then does that make The Smiths emo? Or R.E.M? Or U2? Or Joy Division? Killers? Oasis had that 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out' song, does that mean they are emo?
If anything the only emotion Fall Out Boy make you feel with their music is upbeat. Unless you dislike them obviously.
