Kizarny was never going to fly after his intro vignettes. He could have worked with a manager, have Kizarny jabbering in his language, acting crazy, if I remember right he can do some actual circusy freak show stuff that'd look weird and interesting. Just need someone to translate or something.

Berlyn. I commend WCW for steering away from that archetype after Columbine, but nevertheless that shelved the gimmick almost immediately. Berlyn was ruined by getting sandbagged by Jim Duggan in his PPV debut, nothing to do with Columbine. Wright appeared on Nitro right before Columbine in his Berlyn get-up, where he was acknowledged as Alex Wright. That's when the gimmick got shelved--he was brought back as Berlyn about 5 months later and treated as a newcomer. As a man both proud of his German heritage and a fan of the young Alex Wright, this was a big let down. By his own description, Wright created the character because he felt that he was going nowhere as the dancing Das Wunderkid. He tried to shill for feuds with DDP, Eddie Guerrero, and even Flair. He pitched the idea of Berlin winning the US title and renaming it the German title. And all to nothing because of Bagwell and Duggan.

Maybe if he constantly told funboys to get a room. And his theme was a recording of Kraftwerk form Dusseldorf Well, it was close enough. That 90's stock techno music might even be based on Kraftwerk hence why they gave him the theme. www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJe81M7-lbk

Seven was the first that came to mind. Seven was probably planned that way or deserved to be ruined after the pedo implications from the vignettes.

Since his music was basically a mashup of a couple of Kraftwerk songs.

I'll never understand how a woman that beautiful that can actually wrestle didn't become a star in WWE. Was it really just injuries? MONTHS worth of vignettes were just thrown away with one simple promo and it was back to regular ol' Emma after. Wasn't it that Kevin Dunn got pissed that Emma couldn't play the character right and axed it? It's pretty much what the Mandy Rose character is now give or take a couple of differences.

I heard something similar to that. What was there to the gimmick though? Walkout, look amazing and seductive and wrestle your match. Pretty sure Emma could have handled that.

Tho in fairness, people didn't really like the Emmalina gimmick. They wanted her as Emma

Which is funny to me because Berlyn was supposed to be a rescue for the fact that Alex Wright got ruined by Paul Roma doing the exact same shitty thing in his debut.

That was months after Wright's debut, and I can't say that it "ruined" him. He was still an upper-mid-card babyface having competitive matches with the likes of Ric Flair for another 6 months or so before the influx of talent for the start of the MNW pushed him down a little bit. Even then, it's not like he ever descended into Cobra/Renegade-levels of JTTS-dom.

Even then, it's not like he ever descended into Cobra/Renegade-levels of JTTS-dom. I would say it was the switch from Ric Flair to Kevin Sullivan as the head booker that hurt him much more. Flair apparently was a big backer of Alex Wright and was the reason why he was pushed so hard initially. I don't think it coincidental that once Flair stepped down as booker just prior to MNW that Wright's push started to fade and he was pretty much on job duty for two years until he turned heel and got a renewed push. The influx of talent with Benoit, Malenko, and Guerrero coming in also didn't help.

What was the Gooker supposed to be? Was that a gimmick or a one-off?

He was supposed to be a mascot. Whether year-round or just at the holidays, I'm not entirely sure.

He dies because the vignettes weny around 6 months before he debuted and then he didnt even had matches or story

What was the Gooker supposed to be? Was that a gimmick or a one-off? According to Bruce Prichard it was supposed to be a year-round mascot. Which is stupid since nobody thinks about turkey except for one month out of the year. I watched an episode of Superstars from late November or December 1990 on YouTube a couple years back and the Gobbledy Gooker was promoted in one of the Event Center segments for an appearance at a house show. So it seems he did make more than just the one appearance at Survivor series. Which was news to me.
