As far as the territories go, there are three promoters who are generally seen as being decent human beings - Paul Boesch, Sam Muchnick and Don Owen (and Boesch just barely makes it). Pretty much every other promoter of note from that era had some serious taint to them in one regard or another. Curious what aweful stuff Boesch did. I haven't heard a lot about him. But what I have heard was all positive. Getting a bit ahead of me on that one - I didn't say Boesch did awful stuff. I see where the way I worded that can be construed that way, and I apologize for any misleading with that. When I say he just barely makes that list - and he DOES make that list - I was referring to his praises not being sung by virtually every person he worked with, like Owen and Sam. He definitely made more than a few enemies in the business, more so than the other two. Justified on his end? Probably, on most accounts, but there are a few that weren't fond of him for various reasons. During the brief time I was in contact with the late Skandar Akbar (I was trying to convince him to do something similar to a shoot video before those were a big thing), I brought up Boesch. Ak's response (I'm paraphrasing after some 20-plus years of memory) was that "Paul was a great guy. He was no saint - none of us were - but he was a great guy."

From what I've heard, ICP are really good to talent that come to JCW. Whatever else ICP can be condemned for, fairly or unfairly, yeah, this definitely isn't one of them. They go above and beyond with the talent they hire.
