Yea, like either way you look at it just seems dumb If you believe in yourself so much you will make it on the indies. He will get bookings without looking due to his talent and how long he has been in WWE. He would get a heros welcome on the indies imo but the question is does he want to do that and does he think he can make it? Now, if the answer is no, then that is on him. From a kayfabe perspective, Dolph has a HOF resume. In a perfect world, him and Kofi would be fighting for the WWE title striking back to fighting over the mid card title like Jeff/Edge did, HHH/Rock etc but at the end of the day dude has won every title there is to win there. You go on the indies and get on your shit and you're a made man I’m not saying it’s a reason but he possibly saw how Curt Hawkins did going back to the indies (his PWG run wasn’t seen as...good, from what I remember) and doesn’t want to end up like that? But then, like, it wasn’t even like Hawkins did nothing of note outside of WWE (former TNA tag champ with Trevor Lee of all people) but maybe he doesn’t feel he’d live up to himself. But the difference between him and Curt is that, well, Curt tried. And hey, got him back with WWE which would have happened with Dolph easily. While true let's address the big ass Elephant in the room, CURT HAWKINS IS NO DOLPH ZIGGLER, in any way shape or form. That's not even a comparison. Curt was always a guy struggling to get on TV and left and really didn't do much of big noteworthy but he came back to WWE to be a enhancement talent and he accepts that Dolph wouldn't have that problem in theory. A closer comparison would be Del Rio. He left WWE and was treated like a king before his own problems sunk him TWICE. If we a closer comparison to failure and something that would scare him it would be Sandow. But once again Sandow was his own failure. Impact booked him like an eventual world champ and he had no gimmick which didn't work. Dolph doesn't need a gimmick, he just needs his working boots

At least to begin with. And he could have come up with a new name for himself that was still porn-influenced. He still might have ultimately sunk himself with his apparent inability to adapt and change, but he absolutely would have been signed and treated like he had name value out of the gate. Personally, I kind of think he'd have turned out like Ken Anderson, where he stayed stagnant and just slowly wasted his value away (as opposed to rapidly flushing it down the toilet the way Sandow/Rex/Stevens did), but he'd have been given at least that initial push out of the gate to try and show something.

If he stayed just in Impact he probably would have ended up like Anderson. Someone who has an okay run, wins the world title a few times but never became a go to guy for the company He would have had to learn from Cody in regards to not sticking in one spot at once. Obviously, with AEW now he could find that one spot and they are doing a good job in making Swagger dangerous and trying to separate people from their WWE personas but it brings up the question, how diff can you make Dolph

He's been this weird amalgam that's a mix between Billy Gunn, Mr. Perfect, and HBK (presented in order of how I see the influences on him from most-to-least).

I think he just needs a look overhaul Tho in AEW it would make him stand up because dude does look like a star. If anything they'd probably give him something of a self absorbed gimmick like Miz and Jericho. Never act like you're too big for the company but the fans should be happy that you're in the building at all. He may actually be the first guy they'd may reference came from "over there"(WWE) and he uses it to his benefit But it is a moot point. At this point I don't see dude leaving WWE
