WWE could genuinely let 70 people throw up their deuces right now and I wouldn't even notice. That's how overcrowded that place is. I'm sure it's been said before, but it bears repeating: WWE's hoarding stars was never going to work in the long run. Hell, I'd make the argument that this hemorrhaging was going to happen even if there was no AEW as the next big thing out there. Nobody wants to sit in limbo and watch the same five to seven guys headline PPVs with each other, regardless of your prospects outside the company.

Please let him take Burch with him. I'm very fond of them as a team. Being completely honest the only Oney match I've actually seen is that preshow borefest with Gulak. Watch his NXT stuff, his match with McIntyre was REALLY good Yes, Drew McIntyre, he made him look the best I've seen him since maybe the Ricochet matches. His series with Burch prior to them teaming was excellent stuff too. Just two dudes throwing down.

The Lorcan/Burch tag team was solid gold and never got a chance. It's really great to have a brawly team in your division to keep the matches you can have fresh, just two ugly guys who hate everyone and will scream half-nonsense all time time, both in person and on Twitter. I wanted to see them as bodyguards for some smug heel character like Roode or someone, so we can watch the smug guy trying to keep a straight face every week while Lorcan is walking around screaming about nothing.
This... is one of the strangest takes I've ever seen about Lorcan. If he's bland, I have no idea what bland even means.

Just stay quiet if you want to leave. There's a thing to be said about open frustration though and I have a feeling they try to stay quiet and it doesn't work. This is a way they get WWE to listen, and it also rocks the boat, it hasn't just been one person it's been multiple. Hell Orton teased he was walking and they gave him a fat contract extension for it

I mean cody just did not re-sign. Ambrose sort of just stayed quiet. Jericho also just up and left
I mean sure all of them would be and were welcomed anywhere.
Doing the whining either lands you a bigger contract or they do the whole bury you in florida until you play ball like lio
I mean rhino sort of just left with no fanfare.
But he did not go and whine about his position. Rhyno was under wwe contract for 4 years. And made money. Now he left not asking for his release. But not signing an extension.
In 3 years we will probably see rhyno gore somebody and retire quietly.

No, Cody requested his release and at the time WWE was giving them. Oh that was that wwe won't fire you but you can choose to not re-sign era Sure but the key thing right now compared to that era is there's a bunch of guys in the space of a year who've asked for their releases. Luke Harper Rusev The Revival Mike Bennett Sin Cara ACH (it's a different situation but he's basically quit so sort of the same thing too) and now Oney. The latter 4 were in the last few weeks and regardless of the circumstances, eventually shareholders are going to take notice of the inaction WWE is taking publically. So it leaves WWE in a bind. They either go by a case by case basis, try to deal with their situations individually, keep ignoring the situations or, as I have personally said before, release them and give the money saved to the people who actually want to stay and counter that potential bad PR with news that these people are staying and gotten better deals from it.

In terms of wrestling alone, 2019's been a long ass year.

Asking for your release is leverage. Leverage in pay, leverage in a push, even just leverage in having an out to kill off the worst storyline. Staying quiet isn't going to get you anything you want.

Rovert on Twitter is working off the belief that Lorcan had signed two three year contracts, which would suggest that he is under contract until September 2021. The release request will almost certainly be rejected.

It's only leverage if you know that WWE is willing to do at least one of those things for you in order to keep you. Seeing what they've done to the likes of the Kanellises, Rusev and others who've asked for releases should be enough to make one question why one would go public with a request for a release. If you want more pay and are willing to go through crap storylines far from the main event to do it, by all means give it a go. Not everybody is in this for the money, though. For some, simply throwing more money at them will not be enough and won't guarantee that they'll re-sign. However, with Vince wanting to play with his toys his way and his way only, there are some talents who should probably think about requesting some insane amounts to stay in his toy box - like, eight digits insane - if they're willing to be buried.

But "I want to go home and stop killing myself for the pay of this developmental deal, I'm going to wait out ten months of this, mend up, get paid to spend time with my family, and then hit the indies" is sitll a valid strategy. Leverage can be a lot of things, but you're not getting anywhere by keeping quiet and spinning your wheels.

I think guys like sin cara have made their money. I mean looking at how he was living in 2012 youtu.be/qsi63N-91lkNice big house. Dude is probably still making bank on replica masks. From his view he still has value as a wrestler and could have one last hurrah working all around. Luke Harper also probably knows his value to njpw and aew Guy like oney who gets used a lot on tv. This seems more like a bargaining chip of give me more so i stay. While playing to aew fans. Similar to orton. Revival may or may not leave for aew. But oney is a dude who had quietly had a good run on nxt/205. What is next depends on him. If he was just leaving because he did not re-sign things would be different Rusev apparently did not re-sign. But he is a big enough name that those tactics bring him more money

The Lorcan/Burch tag team was solid gold and never got a chance. I can only imagine what might've happened if Lorcan hadn't broken his orbital bone at the worst possible time.

He’s calling himself Biff in promos so I guess if he’s not getting his release, he’s going to at least push his brand...

Rusev and Lana are a weird case because they'd already taken a leave of absence earlier in the year. Rusev only worked the autumn European tour and the June Saudi show between the middle of April and the middle of September, a period of five months, so they'd essentially come back to TV with this angle. So, the fact that they'd taken leave, come back and aren't turning the f*** right back around leads me to believe one of two things... One, they have dates to fulfill on their contract so they're stuck with this angle until further notice. Or two, maybe, just maybe, doing this angle doesn't bother them as much as we either think it does or want it to.

Honestly, I'm not sure all that much changes, at least in the short term. Moustache Mountain trading the tiles with Undisputed ERA happens regardless since they did the UK tour later in the Summer, so their best shot at changing the timeline would be them being the tag team going into War Games with the UE later in the year instead of the War Raiders. But when the match is named War Games, being named the War Raiders and being big bruisers to contrast Dunne and Ricochet mean they still get that nod. They could be better positioned for the Dusty Tag Team Classic, but I think eventually 205 Live would have called for Oney anyway. It's whether or not the added months on NXT TV get him more over when he's in front of the dead Smackdown audiences, and I don't think he benefits much from it\.
